I was browsing through my Reddit frontpage today and thought some of you might find this interesting.
Some guy made a Pokemon Emerald accessibility script for the Bizhawk emulator. I haven't tested it yet but I'll give it a go and see what works and what doesn't.

I tried it out and it kept saying it couldn't find certain files that were actually there. I have no idea what's wrong.
So everything is working fine for me so far. But many important points are not displayed. For example, I had to find the clock in my room myself. And even in the city it is not that easy with map navigation.
I also find it a little problematic that the coordinates are only announced when you stop moving.
But its a very nice start for this script!

Aww, it looks like the accessibility script crashes every time a battle comes up. As soon as you choose your starter, it'll stop reading stuff. Well not really, but, the keyboard shortcuts refuses to work and the dialogue for the battle that displays what happens does not read like at all.
If only we can get in touch with the dev somehow. I'm not sure if it also happens to the other language that the script supports.

So, I am trying to get to the script. I got the emulator donwloaded, and in the installation instuructions it says to "decompress the archive". Wshat does this mean, and ow do I do this? This script seems interesting, and I would very much lie to give it a try.
last time i tryed Bizhawk, it was not accessible, so, has this changed?

Same happens to me. I wonder if I can continue by simply save stating the game after the battle, reset the emulator with ctrl+r and load the save state again.

Hey this is pretty cool! It reads text quickly, the footstep sounds for different types of tiles are useful and it reads battles well. The biggest issue I have with it is locating things on the map. I just don't think presenting a list of entities with their coordinates is very useful when you have to close the list, then re-open it if you forget the coordinates of the thing you're looking for or check to see if it has moved. A way to mark that you're looking for something and the ability to press a key to read its current coordinates without pausing the game would be great. Still a big improvement over playing with no scripts at all.
Hey there, is it possible to adjust the clock at the beginning of the game?
Pathfinder from pokemon access is the best solution, in my opinion.
Hello, everyone. Does anyone have more detailed descriptions on how to load/play the pokemon emerald script? The directions it gives are pretty vague. I already know how to downald the emulator, but directions form there would be great. Have a wonderful and safe day.

This is awesome! Having so much fun with it. Pokémon emerald is one of my favorites.
With everybody having so much fun with it, I may try it out again. It just takes some getting used to for it to work right I'm guessing and I just didn't have the patience to do more than download it and try a cursory glance to see if I could figure it out. Ugh, when I do try again it's gonna be kinda annoying ...
and I agree with 19 there about emerald being one of the best games. Definitely my favorite gen 3 game.
Can somebody help me? Somehow the route to the north in the first village remains closed to me. But I talked to the daughter and she ran away. Do I have to do anything else in particular?

I posted the script here 2 days ago, went away and totally forgot about it untill a couple minutes ago.
I'll go download it now and see if I get pulled in, I find playing games pretty boring these days but I was a huge fan of the 3rd generation when I was 12 so worth a shot.
Hey folks, I would really appreciate a little help getting this thing started. I got Bizhawk downloaded and running but I am not sure how to get the game going from there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
