Well, since this one is only slightly more expensive than a decent cup of coffee, I decided to buy it and give it a try.
I would have to agree with a lot of points which have already been mentioned here. Lack of background music, missing tactical depth, and slow dialog are my three main gripes, in addition to the fact that the name "Blind Quest" breaks the immersion for me as nothing about the quest itself is related to blindness.
Given the moderate price tag, however, I must conclude that we get a lot of game, or shall we say interactive audio book with sound effects. Having defeated the king of the swamp I'm not sure how far into the story I have managed to get, but the plot is deep enough to keep me interested in how this plays out, and that guy was quite tough so I feel I got an investment going.
To those considering whether or not to buy: Expect a captivating storyline, some side quests, decent narration, and a very elementary turn-based combat system where you deal random damage and occasionally level up if you have collected enough experience points by slaying monsters. In spite of its shortcomings, I have kind of decided to like this thing for what it is.
Cheers Perry

Hi Perry Simm!
Thank you for your review! I'm glad you are enjoying storyline and narration.

Hi Max,

I have also tried to request the update but had no luck, the system claims my E-mail wasn't found.

I beat the game yesterday while streaming it.. The stream is quite long, playing through the game took about 4 hours. Skimming through the thread here I see that most things have already been mentioned(battles really need more sounds and variables, the pauses shouldn't be so long and you should be able to interrupt the speech while tabbing through items). Halfway through the game I randomly decided to try applying a Cheat Engine speedhack to see if I could speed up the navigation any, and let me tell you tabbing through items and going through battles is so much more responsive at 5X speed even if the speech interrupts itself.

On the topic of speech, something else I noticed while playing is that if you're blind you end up missing out on a lot of information. I decided to OCR the game to see if there was any visuals I could put on the stream, and I found that the game displays your exact health, the exact amounts of HP damage you and your enemies cause, how much XP you get, the quantity of items on the inventory screen, and how much XP you need to level up on the main map. The recorded narrator either makes a lot of this information vague (like how the HP report goes from 100% to >75% and so on) or misses it completely (there's no way to see how much XP you need to level up) or exactly how many potions you have.

If you couldn't afford to record more VoiceOvers for this info, just get the Unity screen reader plugin and use it for the battle screen and navigation and leave the prerecorded VoiceOvers for area descriptions and other dialog. Most blind people will thank youfor it and if someone is sighted, you're putting the text there anyway so they can read it. If the reason was something else, like someone thinking this information isn't important, I think that for a turn-based RPG it really is. I would say that RPG's like this are 50% about the story and the other 50% about the numbers which can help you gage how well you're doing, particularly if you add things like equipment down the road.

I really hope you build on this concept. You have a lot of potential here for a good RPG and the story, although a bit cliche, is already there to support such a game. If you need any help with testing or more feedback I'd be happy to help, RPG's are one of my most favorite genres so I'd definitely love to see more of them!

Hi Pitermach!
For the review try again from this link: http://www.ticonblu.it/audiogame/update … p;lang=eng
I think that something was broken from the other one.

For the review: thank you so much! I'm really glad that you beat the game and I think you're very right on a lot of things you said. I'm gonna write you an e-mail, so that we can stay in touch and, if you want, I can share with you next updates so you can try and give me hints before they go live. For example: I'm gonna build a sample scene trying different battle systems next week; maybe you can give me a direct feedback.

Thanks to everyone who has shared his thoughts on the game. If some other users want to help, they're welcome. I'm gonna work on this game to make it perfect!
Cheers!

I would like some acknowledgement regarding the title, as that's been the gripe for many people here. Not asking for a change, just to keep in mind for future titles that blind is not mandatory, nor in most cases even wanted, for makin this game more appealing. But we've beaten this dead horse enough so I'm going to be quiet.

hello
hear  what i think of this
the narration is great
the discription and other things are great as well!
but the navigation system is kind of out of date
as of the battle system, it needs to be inpruve a lot!

i mite be wrong at some point but that's what I think of this

Sorry to be a pest, but I am having another problem with the update.
I installed the game on my laptop originally, but I'd like to install on my desktop. At the moment since my wife is undergoing cancer treatments, I'm spending time shuttling between my parentts' house which is closer to the hospital where I have my laptop, and then going home at weekends where I use my desktop.

The user code does not seem to work for my desktop at all, when I run the game, I cut and pace the user code, and am told it is invalid.

If the game is only installable on one machine, I'd have rather known about it before hand, since then I would've installed on my desktop anyway.

If the game can only be installed on one machine, is there a possible of generating a second key for my desktop?
Or if the computer  nothing to do with it, is there a problem with my first key (I copied it straight from the update email which fortunately did come this time).

Hope there is a way around this.

@Dark, sadly the game can be activated only on one machine so this is why you're experiencing this.

Hey, Max_Depa.

In battle it would be helpful to know how much health the enemies have. Also it would be helpful to know how much xp the player needs to level up.

2020-02-08 03:59:37

I've beaten the game.. I like it for what is. My likes and dislikes have already for the most part already been stated by other users.. I have one question after reading this thread. Do I have to request the update even though I've already paid for the game? Shouldn't it automatically be sent to me? Just wondering..
It gets better as you play, the sound affects broaden a bit as the game progresses, and the story gets more interesting. I would for sure play a sequel. Not bad for the price I paid.

2020-02-08 04:00:34

Well if you want someone thats really hard, try the necromancer.
He can beat me down in 3 or 4 attacks on level5.
So I need to attack once, use a potion then attack again.
Now for the game, like all audiogames made by this company, its the same as always.
I would like the blind gladiator battle system maybe but this turn based system is fine.
Thing is, if you deal with a monster in an ariea then it shouldn't resporn when you leave.
Next, if you tab about you should highlight the object you are on, but not move towards it if you don't want to.
I do not need to fight a monster that I have allready faught.
Next, some of the bosses like the necro could trigger even before I do the side quests, so I could come along, and the big mean boss comes and suddenly I need to handle it.
If I am being told that I jump onto an enemy say the necromancer, then I should be attacking first not him.
Since I am a mercenary it is unlikely that if I see the monster to handle that it may not always see me at first.
My character is after all a stealthy bastard and isn't going to jump into battles for no reason.
If I smash say the swamp king, or the alpha wolf then all the minions he controls should automatically clear.
Same with the reptile man.
There is no reason to fight someone you allready killed.
You could of course put them here  but if you select them, you may fight again the enemies and other npcs in the game you battled earlier if you wanted to.
In the town if for example the iron giant or whatever he is called wants to fight again, You can say yes or not, maybe have a maximum time you can do this and get extra stuff.
Also I'd imagine that some enemies would have gold after all you are searching for cash.
You should get some cash for beating a monster, a lot of cash for beating a boss or something.
If you complete a quest from someone like the game keeper you should expect to get something back, a potion maybe which is fine but whenever I have completed quests on games in the past I'd get gold to use for myself else whats the point in completing sidequests.
As for the turned based combat and all the text in the game  an ability to skipp things would be nice.
Tabbing round is nice but you could easily walk to a location maybe on harder levels.
Maybe there could be the easy levels which could be a story and the harder ones, or simply as you level your monsters get harder and harder.
I would expect exp for each level and a reward for reaching hhigh enough, extra attacks, powerups, etc.
I do like how you regenerate as you move about and or rest.
Saving should restore full health then save, also each level up will restore health not sure if all of it but could be.
The necro is really hard so I may drop my game settings to level3 and try again.

Crashmaster made many good points. I don't think saving your game, stopping, and restarting later should restore your health though.. Thats just me though..
Once you vanquish an opponent than that should be the end of them.. Why do they keep coming back, and sometimes more than twice at a time? Might be a bug..
The king of the reptiles is around, but he is hiding.. I did however notice that the supervisor/scholar is lost and disoriented no matter how many giant toads I kill off. So that is an uncompleted mission.
And maybe ask around before you have testers beta test games they aren't even interested in.. I mean no offense or rudeness, but I'm just saying.

@Lirin, that is extremely disappointing if so, and I'd have much rather known before hand so as to activate the game on my primary machine, since in the normal course of events I only use my laptop sometimes.

As regards returning opponents, I always assumed that was because there was more than one opponent of the same type in the same room, indeed you can tell this sometimes if you alternate tabbing and shift tabbing between objects, for example in the second room of the prison with the friendly arquebussier there are two enemy arquebussiers to fight.

Do anyone know how to enter the cave that is near the beginning of the game? I am about to go to the castle.
So far there has been no mention of that cave.

2020-02-08 10:35:33

If I remember rightly, the gamekeeper in the eastern room tells you about what is in that cave, after you've talked to him you can go in and get your first subquest.

Hello!  A few days ago I purchased the game but I still haven't received the link to download it and the activation code.  I am Antonio Cotugno and my email is alleluja81 @ icloud'com I would like to know, however, if the game is also in Italian ..

2020-02-08 12:50:23

Hi.
Since the game is that cheep, I'm going to purchase it to try it out for myself.
@Dark: The website says the following:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: your purchase will entitle you to 1 activation.

Best regards SLJ.
Feel free to contact me privately if you have something in mind. If you do so, then please send me a mail instead of using the private message on the forum, since I don't check those very often.

Just completed it on normal difficulty! The game says I've explored 80 % and I have no idea what I might have missed as I examined everything closely, making sure to do every side quest that was suggested.
I don't see much replay value though, as the many random encounters are more of a tedium than a challenge. Has anyone else noticed that many fights can be avoided by shift+tabbing instead of tabbing as the exits are often listed last in the map? Is this intentional?
Best,
EG

The gamekeeper asks you to handle whats hidden in that dark cave, but I unintentionally didn't go back to kill it my first time playing it. haha Same with the head reptile man, but I was preoccupied with the fence..
@Dark, Its kinda odd that paying for the game only gets us one activation..

2020-02-08 17:56:45 (edited by manamon_player 2020-02-08 18:00:32)

great trailer!

2020-02-08 18:05:58

I feel like they’re being a little more responsive to feedback this time around, or at least the guy behind this account.

I would rather listen to someone who can actually play the harmonica than someone who somehow managed to lose seven of them. Me, 2019.

2020-02-08 23:05:54

Right? They hardly responded to any user feedback on The Demon.. It was so bad though, one couldn't help but vent..

2020-02-08 23:53:07

Well the only bit I did not complete is the rune quest I found 1 roon in the swamp but I forget where the other 2 are.
Aparently there is one more monster to fight.
However now I have completed the game in story mode its quite good as an rpg story.
I do hope if I ever have to reload  windows due or crash or something that I can still activate on my laptop though.
Really should be  a way to unactivate games or if you load to another computer you have to switch things to the other one and the game asks you if you want to change.

2020-02-09 04:56:05

@Slj, I should've checked that before buying the game, it is rather irritating though I will live with it.
In terms of avoiding fights with shift tab, I thought that was an intentional mechanic so  backtracking to complete random side quests, you don't have to pound your way through more foes.

2020-02-09 09:43:51

As an update to my previous post, I completed the game and found all the runes.
The last monster does not attack though so who knows.
I get told I have still completed 80% but I have finnished all current quests.
The good thing is that I have finnished the game.
I wanted to complete the game at least once in story mode before I listened to the 2 streams I have on my drive.
The game is good for 1 handed mode.
But with music at the menu and end well its lacking in soundtrack, transitional music, and other things.

Battling, well as well as the stuff I mentioned before, while potions are fine cash would be one thing that would be good.
Also surely there must be a progression of the day as you move about, so eventually the main market and shop of the main city should open.
Once people leave 1 place to be found in another location, they shouldn't be in previous locations.
Same with enemies and there should be more than potions to find.
There should be rewards for quests, for example in exchange for getting him out of the prison the aquabussia would teach nathan how to use the aquabus and he could take and use one.
There should also be a way to convince the merchant you are not the enemy.
There should also be more than 1 activation.
The sounds are good.

Fountains etc depending what they are should have different sizes.
As a basic rpg this looks good, however in cases where nathan jumps onto an enemy he should get first move  and at least for a few rounds the enemy would be surprised and act accordingly.
If an enemy jumps natyhan they would get the first attack.
Finally if you break open the big crystal in the christal lands you should be able to get something out of it and maybe it helps you later or maybe you can use it to upgrade something.
Depending on what you have done etc dialogs should change.
There also should be a way to mark things and move back and forth to them without backtracking things.
For example I would want to mark things I would like to do like where the runes are and other things.
