Yes, the update informations will be posted on redit where you can even subscribe with your Email adress to get the information directly via Mail, and the updates will be posted here, if wastelander doesn't change this. But I think he will publish the future Updates here as well.

@wastelander: it's cool that witches will come into the game, I mean more of them in the next update. That could fulfill a part of the wish to have more female characters in the game. I think wizards would be great as well, for example some could fight or could be hired as well.

@Niklas, fixed the you the gold hag thing, can't find the word sorounded? definitely spelt surrounded right to my knowledge. Fixed the he is a guide bug, so that's another one smile

I'm gonna need a bit more info on those two ascii bugs found though, the knight joining your ranks and the greenskin thing cause I've just checked the only greenskin mining company encounter and can't see any issues

@Dark, nice to see you back and thanks for the update to the DB page, as for the itch.io thing, that's insane, I wonder how many other people have been turned away due to that? I've found their email address but I'm not sure what to say [email protected]

I'd be interested to know if the issues solves itself but I think you may be right about it either being due to the uk or no address, but I don't see an address option on itch.io, very strange.

As for the differences in free and paid, it's quite difficult to say cause there have been so many updates, there's been huge expansions of exploration areas and diplomacy, most of the game has developed further in one way or another

Hi guys, so it's been a week or so since the last update and I just want to keep you guys updated, I've planned out the next 30 or so updates to follow themes, so each instead of being a random mash of whatever I did during the time I was coding, it will now be focused and aimed more specifically, such as the last update which was purely focused on expanding the south.
This next update will be made up of a few minor updates, the main flagship part of the update is Baiaa, the lost city of vampires, then there is a further nomad update and finally a special update purely of niklas' bugfixes, and then of course a general pile of unrelated changes/fixes and features.

Some other things to come:

* Every 3 or so years the nomads gather on the big red canyon to do rock jumping duels to deal with disputes among their men!
* Also Dynamic torturing
* Nasty Vampires
* Spooky Places
* Little gnome families
* And mysterious libraries

Surely it is surounded, that's correct. Regarding the ASCII bugs, if you talk to the leader of the green Skin mining Company after you discover it the first time, the ASCII code appears. And in the trone room, if a Knight appears and you tell him to join your ranks. If he declines, there's the bug as well.

@Wastelander,  I actually am a bit narked about this stupidity with Itch.io since I want to play the full version damnit!   big_smile.

I have sent an email to their support address so we'll see what happens.
If worst comes to worst perhaps I could send some money directly to you with paypal and you could gift me the game on my Itch.io account?

Hopefully we'll not need to do that, but it is really bizarre.

That is a strange issue Dark, possibly a silly question, but have you tried clearing cookies?  I seem to remember that fixing paypal issues once, so it might do the same for itch. 
I managed to buy the game without issue on Monday, so I have no idea what the problem could be.

One suggestion: It would be cool to have different modes you can play the game in. One could be kind of a story mode, were you have to play through the game, with exploring and such and after the end game, the story ends. Another could be open ended such as the game is at the moment. Another possibility could be to play out an entire live cycle of a king and a last example could be that you play a complete generation of kings. This would make the gameplay even more flexible and so anyone can choose wich mode he or she wants to play. That would be great. And you know what's great as well? That the game is portable and doesn't need an installation and at the same time, it is the game with actually the most amount of content I ever saw in a game. Cool man. BTW: Has the game already texts even for the things and items you can examine or look at, for example the ship Modell or the animal scetches in the black market and such?

Niklas's comment about female characters gave me an idea.


I was thinking that a cool new policy would be (allow women to enlist in the military).
At first, as a result of changing this rule, you would get an immediate, sizeable hit to popularity, not massive, just noticeable, maybe like -10?
But right away you would start getting more soldiers in the hiring pool, and more recruited per turn by nights, but only a very small amount at first.
Over time, you would get more and more of both, up to a certain point, maybe like half again what you could before (150%), as most women still don't have the ability to serve satisfactorily in general infantry do to physical limitations so you wouldn't get many, but can do particularly well in some niche fields such as ranged combat, infiltration, scouting, and high altitude fighting: hence new units are formed over time as they find their place in the existing structure.
Now I'm assuming you already get a popularity hit when you get a ton of soldiers killed without doing much damage to the enemy, and a popularity increase for rolling right over them, especially a powerful foe, as that would be kind of a no brainer.
But when you make this change, you should get a noticeably bigger popularity decrease than normal, (no change to increases because people are judgemental assholes), at least at first.
However, after a couple decades, the increased popularity loss from defeats should be gone completely as people get used to this new fact of life and come to accept it.
Additionally, you may wish to make the over all military slightly more prone to losses for a time, probably at least a decade, do to mails trying to protect females in front line combat and getting killed because of it, which is a real thing by the way, one of the major (actual) issues with women in dangerous fields with a majority of men.
This could also open up the door to a group similar to the knightly order, but made up of women, probably powerful magic users or maybe expert archers/assassins/spies, as females are historically seen in those roles throughout the mythology of many cultures, and the real world too for the last one.
Same goes for female generals and spymasters.
Also, it could bring in another element to relations with other kingdoms, with many seeing it as strange but not that bad, and a few seeing it as totally unacceptable.


This is cool because it's a real trade off especially at first, and over time it becomes an advantage!

good idea as well. BTW: If the sounds are turned of, it would be nice to have some alternative throne room Encounters for the musicians wich only Pop up if the sounds aren't used. This way, People who are blind and deaf for example could have an alternative experience and won't miss out on something in the game. Maybe there could be something added for this Setup.

I also definitely need to look at how to run the course of the game as a king, it'll probably have to be done where the game's turns are split to be 4 per year, player starting a random age and then when you die it's finished and you get a little screen telling you about your legacy.

The alternative is of course, immortality, which perhaps could be earned.

The ship description has definitely been added to the game! will look into the animal ones

@defender, a very interesting idea, I have always overlooked having female roles in my games and I need to sort that out! I plan to work on a female face generator soon and roll women into the game at some point, the female soldier point is very indepth with the consequences! I like it! very well thought out

@Niklas, could you give me an example of something to pop up instead of a musician?

Like I said, the Idea with the game endings or no endings could be made as different modes, so you can choose how you want to play. I realy like the idea to have more women as well. Surely I can give you examples: For encounters if the sounds are turned off, a good thing could be clowns and acrobats for example wich show you theier art and performances, wich can be seen as grafic but also can be described as text for the blind.

I've also added an additional option when running a custom game and plan to add a few more if I can, so custom games can get a lot more, well... custom

Another throne room thing were I am unsure if it is a typo or not. There's a man who wants to fight for you and it says "a man who has had vision to fight". Wouldn't "a man who has had visions " or "who has had a vision of" be correct? I am not sure on this.

cemeteries, villages, tombs, catacomps as well as seas, reivers, lakes, swamps and temples would be interesting areas for exploration, if not implemented already. The seas, rivers and lakes could be explored with a boad or ship if such things come in. Even deserts would be interesting as well.

Another question: Do you plan to bring the wastes back again as well? I could imagine that if that happens, it will be when warsim is completed, or maybe as a secondary project while developing warsim? Would be cool to know if you have something planed with the wastes or will it stay as it is now?
