September 29, 2020: Deucalion has been discovered as an alternate of the banned account Talpaiute, and has received a six-month ban. Talpaiute's ban has been upgraded from three months to six months as well. Should this user be discovered creating any new accounts before their ban expires, they will be banned permanently.
We approached this user a couple of weeks ago, on suspicion of alternate account abuse, and were told that the accusation was untrue, and that any similarity was coincidental. Unfortunately, Deucalion ceased using their VPN, which quickly let us realize that the location of both users was virtually identical. When you add in a similarity of writing style, similarity of post content, Deucalion being created the day after Talpaiute was banned, and Deucalion claiming he let Talpaiute "borrow his account" - which is against the rules as well, by the way - it's a slam dunk.
Pro-tip, for those of you who find yourselves on the wrong end of an admin investigation. Don't lie, because it will go worse for you if you do. There may be trouble if you tell the truth, but we do take a willingness to own up to a bad choice seriously, and may consider greater clemency in such circumstances. If you lie, however, you prove that you can't be trusted. Just follow the rules, and when caught, have the decency to admit it, please.
