It was a long time since I last posted here. But, i'd like to present you a project i'm currently working on my free time, called The Forgotten Islands.
This is an online RPG where your progression is made by training abilities to gain xp and improve your character stats. The game is set on a medieval universe, with few weapons and equipment, and only one possible item to craft because I ran out of ideas.
It is still on the early stage of development, but i'd like to receive feedback on where to improve the game.
Also, i'd like to apologize for the lack of English translation for some quests and areas, but i'll try to improve it with time.
I'll be glad to answer any question regarding the game when possible.
You can download the game using this link http://www.blindgameplay.com/Forgotten_islands.zip
How to switch to English: when starting the main menu music, press down, enter, enter, down then enter again.
I hope your guys can have fun with the content already available in the game, if possible.

Spent a great hour on the game.

If you want to contact me, do not use the forum PM. I respond once a year or two, when I need to write a PM myself. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Like you said some strings aren't translated which makes it hard to play the quests and such, but I 100% appreciate someone making something original online either way. You're trying, which is great.

So can you kill things and all that?

2020-01-12 04:26:24

#3 I greatly appreciate you taking it into consideration. Thank you
Guys, i'm writing all ideas given in game and even out of the game via skype or any other contact method i've provided in the readme file. Thank you for the awesome feedback, I received lots of incredible ideas and I don't know how to thank all of you.

Nice game. I hope you'll find enough time to find someone who can translate it to english instead or something like tht, but still a cool game. I only found the blacksmith

Where I can find enemies to fight?

2020-01-12 07:14:29

@7 there's some areas containing enemies north of town. Follow the merchant's road until your y coordinate becomes 45. From there, go eastwards to find the entrance to the imp's cavern.

this game is nice if you have time to translate quest and adding more quest it would be cool.
agree you should have someone that can translate protugal into english.
this is a good start though.
my suggestion is if you have more time to develop could you adjust balance of monster.
monster is so weekness when you are still level 1 and add more creature in to the game.
another bug to report when i choose english as a language choice.
when some one online it translate that someone has connect, but when press read through a message it said something in protugal.
this is my suggestion and bug report i can think of right now.
hope this project go well and don't shutdown server with your previous title.

Ok so I have accepted the kill the spiders quest but I have no idea how to finish it. In the quest journal it keeps saying 0/10 even though I must have killed tens of spiders by now.

Apart from this though the game is pretty fun. A few things that you can consider.

*There should be a way to speed up regeneration of the vital statistics. It's not that I think that it goes too slow or anything, but being able to speed them up would be pretty useful.
*Add skills. What they would do is give your character additional powers that cannot be used like abilities, and are instead used in the background during gameplay. For instance, there might be a skill called dodge, which would allow the character to, well, dodge the enemies attacks, and higher the dexterity, the better the character would be able to dodge.
*Make it easier to receive gold. As far as I know, the only way to get gold in this game is by completing quest, and I have no idea how to do that as of now. Maybe have a small reward every time you kill an enemy, or maybe have some items spawn from time to time, I'm not sure.

Here are just some of the ideas off the top of my head. So far this looks like it will be a great game and I wish you all the best.

bad it's an online game, in a year, and as usual it will cease to exist as was the case with many online games.
so I recommend creating and offline mode.

2020-01-12 11:42:01

Hi. I think I’m going to pass on this one for now, just until it’s got some more content. Is there an auto updater? The off-line mode might be a nice idea. What about being able to play on your local network?

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

I'm not sure what people are on with online games not staying, there are plenty of long running ones kicking around from drakor, to core exiles, to Kingdom of loathing, right back to old Sryth  and several versions of legend of the green dragon.
My only concern with this one are quests and translations, since as someone who really enjoys quests I'm not sure if I fancy a game where I can't do them.

When however the quests are possible to do I'll certainly check this one out.

Our souls with high music ringing; O men! It must ever be
That we dwell in our dreaming and singing, A little apart from ye. (Arthur O'Shaughnessy 1873.)

I think I'm with Dark. When it gets a bit more development in English, I'll be happy to give it a look, but for now I'll just keep following up on it now and then to see the progress.

2 days ago, I thought it would be nice if someone created an online RPG, but not in Chinese. Chinese games are good, but I wanted something in a more familiar style, and here it is! This is a good game, brian, if I have any ideas, I will contact you. Keep up the good work.

2020-01-12 12:47:59

I like this game, i just wish it gets more content.

2020-01-12 13:23:36

And also i see a lot of spamming. For example players talking different languages in the english channel. What a fuck.

2020-01-12 16:26:00

Hi.
Wow what a nice game. I look forward to see the quests being translated as well.
@toto: The developer have already answered that question in post 8. smile

Best regards SLJ.

Check post 7 in this topic.
For a little explanation, move in commerce street to the north. Press spacebar to move to the fields and them You are near merchant road. Now, another explanation is on post 7.
I have also another question. Where to find trees?

Hi,
I'll try this one soon enough.
However, I think it'd be nice if there's a mode that lets you do some things offline or locally, in case the server dies. Just wondering what to do regarding progress, though, if that happens. Here's some scenarios.
What happens if someone starts offline then jumps into online, etc, possibly ruining the balance? So might it be easier to have separate progress for offline and online? The only thing I'd say about that is, someone gets to level 5 online. Server dies. Person wants to progress. What happens if they progress to level 7 then wnat to reconnect? How can we make this so that people can't just reconnect all the time half an hour later with tons of progress, but if a server dies we can still enjoy any quest content we might have missed or at least do something with some sort of character built offline?

actuly, I don't think there's any leveling, but not sure
