I'm having fun playing it too. I'm sure I don't remember the north being this tough in the books/films though.

I've spotted another bug unfortunately. I've noticed that when you declare yourself a demonic kingdom (as I did in reaction to the demonic hoard appearing), you don't get the promised demons. Though I have noticed the demonic hoard seem to be leaving me alone for now while they're messing up the other kingdoms and bandits. Shame everyone else now detests me... oops. Should've kept quiet.

Space? Mmmm... I worry I've opened up a can of worms here. I was only sort of reskinning the existing game.

Actually, regarding space, @DracoSelene's suggestion might work. As opposed to having to introduce some sort of sector/system/quarters schema or something like that. String replacements FTW!

IMHO simply allowing custom games to rename lands to...well...anything could work.

I suddenly pictured myself renaming lands to candy stores. I have no idea why tis is so hilariously awesome to me currently...but I do think the simply allowing us to rename lands (or not) is a far simpler idea...and honestly, I don't want Warsim to become yet another space game, I love the setting the way it is honestly, I'd rather we're able to play the custom game and customize as muh in custom games as we want to without sacrificing the core game at all.

This is an announcement of the first mod for Warsim, and with this mod being announced many new features are going to be put in place to allow for better moddability, the game of thrones mod features the following.

Thank you for your work truecraig! I modified it a little with flags, some ironborn names, and tried to make the troop counts a bit more accurate, also added the game of thrones soundtrack and the locations and flags to each faction but your work was very impressive and in depth even down to the currency! cant wait to see what happens next!

wow sounds cool. Will the mods be included in future Versions of the game or will they stay seperate? But in the game a mod Folder would be good, so you could choose from the mods if you start or simply Play the regular game. I think a select mod Option would be nice.

I had another idea wich could be implemented along with changing weather conditions. Other desastrous events could happen as well, like Zunamies, fire, earth quakes and the like wich can influent the game

@Wastelander: Nice one! I never actually considered adding the Game of Thrones music, but it does make it feel more Game of Thrones like! Great work on the other fixes too. Now I understand what those lines in the file were about.. they were the factions' unique locations. And I thought they were things to find when you explore. I allied with everyone just to see all their unique locations smile

And I have noticed other fixes generally too, like communicating with the demon overlord, which is good. I mean I can't convince him to give me more demons, but at least I can try.

@Draco: Well actually, the debug menu is useful for some quick tweaks. But for more flexibility you have to get down and dirty with the save files. I started work on a quick WPF app to help me do it after I had some initial wins, but I don't know what most things do quite yet. If modding becomes more of a thing, then maybe that was time I could've saved. Oh well.

Okay fresh DL of the GOT mod and it now suddenly won't work.

What'd I do, I extracted it and now it won't pick up any of the GoT data, do I have to load in a save again or what?

@DracoSelene89, Not sure why it wouldn't work run gameofthrones as the save name, also I can't wait for moddability to be fully implemented, I will be working on a modders toolbox which will make it 100x easier to do what truecraig has had to do hopefully, I'll add it so you can do all of the tweaking internally in the game in kind of a debug mode 2.0 with a ton more options!

Also in response to what you said about how easy it is to mod the files, not speaking for truecraig but it's 50/50, some things are obvious in the text files, but as for numbers, like troop counts and factions income, it's nearly impossible to edit because you can't tell which number corresponds to which variable, hence why I will be making this modders toolbox smile

@Niklas, I love the idea of a mod folder! will note that down, for now they will just be saves

@Mata, in all the text and data files, go into your savegame.txt and tweak away

@truecraig, To be honest you had done pretty much everything I could think of besides troop count and locations, even down to the currency, I was very impressed, I think I fixed that and forgot about it but yeah it was a pretty serious bug haha, and I know you had to do a lot of work to make the mod and with the new modders toolbox I'll be rolling out it;s going to get easier to mod things and things will be able to be done more in depth, but know that you started the warsim modding scene smile hopefully it grows

Forgot to/missed on extracting the save folder...no wonder it didn't work tongue Redid it and it works fine now..thankfully the autosave doesn't seem to work at that mod...

Also, mod folders are  a reat idea, why not see if ou can have the game pick up on any mods....for instance if I got 4 mods in my mods folder it could display this on startup

1. Play Warsim

2. Play Game of Thrones mod

3. Play Middle Ages mod

4. Play testmod mod

(Not in that example II added mod to each mod name to distinguish it from the original Warsim...and yes, quit would always be the last optio...and one more thing, if we have a ton of mods and I know some people will....let us type in the mod name by hand if we want ton)

a tsunami is a very big and long harbor wave wich can happen because of an earthquake under water for example. It can hit the land with incredible power if the water goes back, it pulls lots of material into the sea. It is very destructive. Another thing wich could happen in the game are hurricanes as well.

As a thought, or a simpler way of doing it why not have somethhing like..

x:\games\warsim\warsim.exe -mod=xxxxxxxx

Where xxxxxx is the mod name you want to load, like gameofthronestxt or whatever it is, that way you can load in the mod if you choose, or not.

Also, being given the demon king in a vanilla game makes for fun, and crazy, times. I had a perfect unintentional soundtrack to my run earlier, started out as the demon king, Ring of Fire came on as I was mulling over my first turn, then Metallica, and Jerry Lee Lewis. I know for a fact I didn't plan that, ah, the joys of shuffling playlists tongue

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention about the Harlaw mine bug... the rebels cozied up to them so I went and gave them a bashing so there was no rebels left, but it still said it was in rebel hands. Even when I sent my entire army against the undefended mine I still couldn't take it. Glad you've fixed that one :-)

I still haven't played a game to the end yet, maybe this one will be the one

Just curious, are there any other major events after defeating the demon lord?
I'm on turn 250 and all I've seen since turn 180 or so was a small undead hord that I got rid of with no problem.


By the way, this game is extremely addictive.

@Truecraig, wait is the harlaw mine bug fixed? I don't recall finding that one? and I don't know if this will be your finished playthrough, I'm working on something another update to come out soon hopefully haha

@Defender, Random little bandit groups and Undead hordes are all you'll get, what you can do if you want more to kill is defeat all 5 kingdoms and then you get the option to find a new continent, the kingdoms will be progressively stronger on each continent, also, if you discover a void race they will spawn the void army which are similarly supposed to be a tough fight! Demon horde used to be the end game but now you can keep going!

@Niklas, Infinite, but it wipes the last five independent kingdoms currently due to it being hardcoded to only store 5, which is why you must destroy all five kingdoms to move on

Greetings Wastelander.

Unfortunately I've found bugs to report. Firstly, when changing laws of the kingdom, options 8 and 9 are not announced. I always press numbers not listed to see what happens in any given menu. Also, both 8 and 9 are the same option; evil policies and I've lost the ability to declare aslona a demon kingdom. Secondly, in the kingdom upgrades, I want to build demon tokens but cannot do so; I don't know why that is.

On a related note, if Aslona is declared demonic, I definitely don't want to destroy any demon tokens, nor do I want to attack any demons; instead, I want to worship the demon overlord by strengthening any and all demon tokens and aiding any and all demons. I'm definitely loving the game more and more each time I play. By the way, what are war sim and the wastes coded in? Just curious. Keep up the good work; these games are most excellent!
