Hey guys
I'm Huw and I've been on audiogames forums for years but have never posted on the main general game discussion forum so I thought I'd come and introduce myself and present Warsim The Realm of Aslona
Warsim is a game that wasn't developed for visually impaired users, but is a text based game with a crude system of ascii graphics. Upon being approached many years ago by Audiogames' Dark, I spent a few days and produced a graphic-less version which has since been in development for 5 years.
In that time the audiogames forum has been a huge help in both developing the game and keeping it supported, with easily over 1000 bugs fixes due to audiogames users, and 100s of features added, and we've even got users like Bookrage, Niklas, and Defender represented in game as characters.
The game itself is a complex and deep kingdom management game that is deceptively easy to play but has a mountain of content to explore. It puts the player in the shoes of the ruler of a fantasy kingdom in a wacky fantasy world and has a huge emphasis on choice, you can choose to become a dictator and send everyone who visits you to the dungeons, or you could waste the kingdoms treasury on scorpion fights and gnome battles.
Some of the games notable features are:
Over 100 locations to explore, some of them very huge
1000s of throne room visitors from gamblers, and singers, to beggars and mercenaries
Over 94 million randomly generated races to occupy your world that can all change gameplay and make each world unique
An arena system where you can watch heroes rise and fall, host tournaments, and bet on fights
20+ mini games from simple dice games in taverns to snail racing tournaments and more
Procedurally generated bards that whistle, strum, and grunt their horrificly bad music to you
And tons more
I have worked extremely hard on this game for years and I genuinely believe if you are interested in rpg and management games then you will love Warsim.
It's rated 97% positive on steam from over 600 reviews and has sold just under 30'000 copies so far in it's development, which has been amazing for me and allowed me to work full time on it.
Warsim is available on both steam and itch.io but I have been told itch.io is more screen reader friendly, here are links to both pages for the interested
