Hello! Are there any accessible symbian emulators? And another question: is there an alternative browser for symbian than the default one? I got a situation a while ago where my iphone wasn't usable for 2,5 weeks, and wanted to browse the web. When i tried to go for example to Wikipedia, it said: Opening secure connection. Continue? I klicked yes, and it said. Error error error error... Are there any accessible alternative browsers that can open for example most https sites and they work with talks?

Best regards: Marco

The official Simbian emulator is around, but absolutely won't work on Windows 10 (even with Active Perl installed). Thus, I am stuck with none other than limited ocr functionality in a windows xp vm. The stupid thing doesn't seem to take kindly to .sisx files that are past their signature date, either that or the installers aren't running properly. In saying that, I have Talks, and I have an n97 emulator. If I get it working, I can do with it what I did to the Windows Mobile6 environment and upload it here, along with some games we found. Though if I manage to squeeze a Mobile Speak license out of Code Factory, I'll obviously be putting that in Talks's place, since it's doubtful we can get a license out of a company who pretty much scrapped everything blind-related while still holding the copyrights on them.

What about the browser? Are there any accessible alternatives to the default browser on Symbian? By saying accessible, i mean it works with talks or mobile speak.

but why? it's an older system. No accessible games or tools that are better than on other platforms as far as I know.

That is true, but I've never tryed Simbian myself, I just jumped to the iPhone 3gs when it was still a thing.
I was always curious how these work and the n97 was an interesting device also.

I am myself and noone is ever gonna change me, I am the trolling master!

Hello,
@#3Can't you use the nokia screen reader instead of mobile speak? As far as I know it reads the internet.

I post sounds I record to freesound. Click here to visit my freesound page
I usually post game recordings to anyaudio. Click here to visit my anyaudio page

Now a few questions from me.
1: Can someone give me a guide on how to setup talks/mobile speak/nokia screenreader with all of these unsigned installers?
3: What is the best phone with fysical keys running symbian to buy/get? My cousin has alot of nokia phones and if he would give me one i would want to know if it supports pretty latest symbian software.
I know symbian wil not run latest things any more but i want to assure my self that it wil be a good thing to take that device from him if he would be willing to give me one.
He somehow managed to actually install talks on a E66 i had like 4 years ago lmfao. To this day i have not figured out how he did that.

@ogomez92: For the same reasons we virtualize DOS/older Windows? Nostalgia. For all our work with dos virtualization and such there hasn't been much interest in virtualizing the first accessible phones/smartphones. Windows Mobile's already been done, but Simbian is harder to get going what with the general inaccessibility of the platform without a screen-reader installed. Windows Mobile (even on real hardware) was the first that could be made accessible without any sighted help, as the phone's had immediate activesync connection ability, and you installed Mobile Speak through the computer.

I'm going to see if I can get a full license from Code Factory, then I'll upload my virtual environment. For now it has a demo of Mobile Speak, plus a few games and programs.

Can we browse the net with the virtualized symbian, since it doesn't have a sim-card?

Best regards: Marco

Yes, it should go off your wifi. I know the Windows Mobile definitely does, and has a cellular emulator in case an application needs a number to authenticate (the mobile speak trial as an example).

@Jack, where did you get your virtual environment?

oooo oh oh oh, this brings back fond old memmories. Me rocking a nokia 3230, then a nokia n73, and then a nokia C5 all with the simbian OS installed. I'd really really love to see a emulation of this OS if ever you can get the screen reader to work. does any one know ware I can stil get the old nokia screen reader file that will work on those phones? I also had a 6710 navigator during those times. and oh yep. not to forget about the good old 9500. that slide up phone with the camera. whose battery never lasted long. I cannot remember if it was called the N95 or 9500.

A genuine microsoft Windows mobile 6 professional environment, off the Windows Mobile sdk. I do have real hardware (verizon htc ozone with Wm6.5) and I can easily rig up images for both the Windows Mobile for smartphones and Windows Mobile 6 professional for pocket pc's.

Hmmm...

I think folks may be looking for this page linked below:

The download links are apparently broken. I'll give it some more time and see if I can get a license out of them, but if not, then up it goes in trial form.

Good luck.

I really hope they play nice.

PS. I knew I should have gotten Mobile Speak instead of Talks when I gotten my Nokia n86...
*sigh*

If you can’t get a licence for mobile speak, then please get Nokia screen reader

Hey jack, any update on that emulator, really deep nistalgia going on over here. Packmate broke recently, want it back lol.

2020-09-26 17:13:10

It will be uploaded eventually, given it's clear Code Factory just doesn't give a good crap about my Mobile Speak inquiry, though Steve over at Dolhpin over at dolphin was a lot nicer and actually told me that they didn't have the resources to get us a license for Smart Hal. Understandable considering it never moved beyond a few handsets anyway, since it had a harder time on smartphones than Pocket Hal did on PDA. That being said, all we got is a Mobile Speak 10 minute demo, but we do have a lot of games...missing the Phrase Madness for mobile demo though.

@23 I'm excited!
