hi there.
I booted up my computer today, and I tried searching for a program, but my start  menu didn't work. any tips on how to fix this would be apprishiated
Edit: I found out what the problem was, searchui.exe is deactivated. does anyone know how to activate it?

If an exe file appears to be deactivated, something could be up in the registry. go to regedit in the run dialog and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Image File Execution Options\ and see if search UI or what ever it is is in there with a debug thing. If it is then you need to delete that if I remember correctly.

For me, the new coding age begins!

Apparently the problem is related to Bing. I heard a few people who disabled that and possibly the Cortana integration, and then it worked again. I currently have no step by step instructions though, since this hasn't happened to me yet.

Yes i did, but if it still doesn't work there is a fix in the registry but i don't remember how to do it. for me it just worked

I look in my reg files but the search UI thing wasn't there.
I've tried multiple resarts and no luck.

For me there was an optional update. I downloaded it and tried after like an hour sstart search began working. A shame kortana isn't supported here, I cannot access it's settings, I wanna disable that bing search crap.
