Transparency is important. That's definitely true.
However, saying that it's this dude's fault for someone giving him a beatdown like that? Uh...no, not really.
If I make you mad and you punch me in the face, I'm at fault for doing things to anger you, but you threw the punch, so you're on the hook for that.
Johnnyboy, your tone is ridiculous, even if your overall message is understandable. You don't actually change minds that way. Have you ever heard that old saw about how you attract more flies with honey than with vinegar? Well, bro, that wasn't even vinegar. It was the verbal equivalent of rancid goat's milk and liquified meat. In a word, pungent. All you proved to me with your message is that you're too immature, angry or inarticulate to get a good point across. Were I a dev who saw a message like that, I'd probably end up ignoring the good points purely because I had to sift through all the stench to even get close to them. Not cool. Not useful. In fact, it's counterproductive. Either you care about the game and you want to see it improve (in which case, why shit on someone this hard?), or you really don't care (in which case, why open your mouth at all?).
That said, I want to stress the importance of transparency. If the other dev is having personal problems, that is 100% okay and I bet most people would probably understand if that had been mentioned, even in rough. The best thing to do is tell what you can, as soon as you can, within reason. I'm not here to kick you, but if you promise updates, and the updates are crappy (I don't actually know, I haven't played the game at all), you're going to generate some negative feelings, and some of it is going to be your fault if you don't explain what's going on. Even for a free product, this is just good sense talking here; you don't want to bankrupt your supply of goodwill just when you might need it most.
