And as everyone probably expected, here is another monthly chat topic in which you may chat about months. Note only months! so no talking about weeks or days or years here!

Though I suppose we can talk about other stuff, like life, and what your doing and films and games and general things, just no talking about days! none at all!

Well today (hay I can break my own rules), things are mildly stressful because Mrs. Dark is really not well. This made yesterday's concert in a local church a bit of a trial, though admitedly part of that was because the concert was quite a disaster with half of the people singing unaccompanied because their music teach didn't bother to show up and they couldn't possibly use backing tracks, plus the sound man had problems in balance because some silly arse monkeyed with his mixer.

Still, whilst one of my lady's songs didn't go  expected, her feed the birds worked out well enough, albeit less good than usual. Plus I got to sing the dig song from Pocahontas, even if the balance on the mike vs my backing wasn't what it could be.
Actually I rather like the dig song, its awesome Disney wrote a villain song for a tenor, and its so fantastically greedy!

Sadly the concert program also got buggered up  so I wasn't able to sing the two other things i planned, but as it was the dig song I really fancied that was good enough.

I really need to fix my usb mike and look at actually doing some recordings. I had no luck with it last time, but maybe I can get some assistance. My lady also suggested re purposing some disney songs as youtube recordings, though since I've not got into the voice recording bit that might take a bit of doing, albeit it might be fun to do.

We also spent most of Yesterday putting up an awesome new bed, which was actually less of a torment than planned, even having to hoik everything up our stairs, though unfortunately having to pay for a new bed ontop of paying for my lady's blasted visa means we're pretty skint at the moment. its a shame, its our wedding anniversary on  third of July, and I'd really like to go to a nice restaurant but that might nnot be happening. I was also considering treating myself to the new medevial dynasty game for Ios and/or code 7, and/or the crypt shyfter gamebook collection from Itch.io, but again whether these will happen is relatively doubtful at the second.

We're also continuing with harry Potter, in between my lady not exactly feeling great. I really do wonder if Rowling herself was not feeling great during Halfblood prince. People say Order of the phoenix is the brattiest book, but honestly between harry's Malfoy obsession and Ron and Hermione's constant bickering and teenaged romantic hassles, its really the most irritating characterisation in the series. Even Hagrid seems off here, and with Umbridge out of the picture everything feels a bit too petty to say there's essentially a wizard Nazi party gaining power.

Of course, the end of halfblood prince is very explosive, and leads into Deathly hallows which is one long climax, so things should pick up.

Also, I've been reading some Kate Wilhelm short stories which are fantastically disturbing! actually, she's more known as a legal and sf writer, but her sort of surreal horror type stuff is surprisingly good, albeit being published in the mid seventies its a wee bit dated in terms of society and technology, still like the best kinds of fiction you just overlook that sort of thing when the writing is good enough.

Speaking of writing, that is the one thing that is! actually going well. I'm finding getting a regular  routine for writing and trying 500 words a  works out pretty well, indeed I've started making that my priority each morning which is a good way to get serious work done.
I'm just hoping that there will be something I can do with my writing when I'm done with it, but we'll see.

Hope everyone else is having a good July so far.

Hello dark
Happy July to you and the audio games community
It’s months I plan to get a lot of work done on coding and much more, The reason that this text might seem a bit weird in the form is because I am using dictation on an iPhone, currently don’t have access to my computer at the moment
Anyways, hopefully maybe this month the form might clear up in the negativity, hopefully

everyone in life has something to contribute to this existence, its just if people actually will contribute anything that actually counts

I would dare to say that July is currently at a good start on sport wise, specially when we lost the cricket world cup match to the England at thirtieth June, but after beating Bangladesh, we have secured the place in the semifinals. also, since the world cup was held in the round robin format this year, we still have one more match against Sree Lanka. I am sure we will win that match as well.

Meanwhile, on other fronts, it is not a very good start. specially when a woman forest officer was sent at a place in the Tilangana, (a state of India,) to plant the trees on the land where people were farming illegally.

My god, the beating she received... it was horrifying.

The horror gets doubled when people made a video of that, and shared it across the social media.

Chenai is still facing the drought, while Indore which is the city in which I live in, started to receive the rain. but again just like every year, the Mumbai is miserable this year as well. apparently, someone co-responded with a professor in US, and they told that person that Mumbai would start receiving the cyclones in coming years.

Moving on, I also started to think about starting a blog. but most of the services which I looked into were payed, (naturally!) while free services weren't that good. basically not receiving the change if I wish to do in the future. (Again, Naturally!)

The problem is, I have no income. while in any other country, if I worked my college days, people might not raise too many eyebrows. but here in India, people do not work during the highschool and college. during the post graduation years? perhaps. but not during college years.

Besides, the only thing in which I could get any work in is programming, and I quite honestly don't feel that I am good enough with that.

Still, I am determined to start a blog at some point, when I'll do that, it will most definitely will contain three sections.

First, the general secssion. which will cover about my thoughts on the developments which I described above. (the beating of the officer.)

Second one will be the game experiences section, containing my gaming experiences with the mainstream games. (there will be a lot of fighting games.)

Third and the final section currently planned will be programming section. if I ever get good enough that I could explain people to do how to do this and that, that will be here. also, my experiences as a blind developer.

I also thought of contributing to the open source projects, but sadly c, which is the language I am learning does not have very many of them. perhaps I should switch to the python or c++? because my current teacher seems to have lost interest on me. thankfully he had given me enough knowledge that I could self study with the books. (converted in to the .docx, of course.)

Hope everyone is having ambitious plans as myself.

Hello Everyone!
Well it's been a little crazy. My niece and nephew are finally here, and I've been a little annoyed. My nephew is about 8 and never stops talking or begging for attention. I believe this is because he gets 0 attention at home. I try to have a real conversation with adults, he just talks over everyone. However it's been nice seeing my niece, she's growing up so fast. Me and my parents have pretty much raised her since she was a newborn, so I have a good connection with her.

I've been playing a lot of games lately. I recently got back into the blindfold games. The sound quality is terrible, but the gameplay is excellent. I'm trying to master card games like rummy and solitaire. I'm not having much luck but it is still fun trying. I'm finding I enjoy mobile gaming a lot more than I used too. I've also been playing around with dice world and game world which has been great. The interface on those is a little confusing, but I'm slowly getting used to it. I'm hoping to practice enough to where I can join a dice tournament, I'm really enjoying farkle!
Audiovault has been getting some hospital shows like the resident and station 19. I can't wait to watch the resident especially, the first time I watched it I didn't like it too much, the main character was too vanilla and the other one was too sarcastic and a little over the top for me. I'm willing to give the resident another try, maybe the characterization is something I can get used too.

@Dark eagle, no comments on the sport myself since to me most sports with balls all seem a bit pointless, indeed I'm a rather bad Englishman being as I have no interested at all in football or! cricket big_smile.

Horrible to hear about the lady forester though, I hope she recovers.
I've actually been considering starting a blog myself, for book reviews, general thoughts etc, however even if I could work out all the formatting stuff, I'm not entirely sure how I'd get around to actually getting people to read the thing, since finding followers isn't easy. I'll probably just stick to writing reviews or items for the fantasybookreview.co.uk blog instead.
=
@Guitarman, welcome to the reason I do not like children, dogs are much nicer big_smile.
Actually there is some fun stuff on mobile at the second, though I've mainly been doing pc games myself at the moment like Breed memorial etc. Dice and game world are great for train journeys though.

Well today has been super crappy! First I get a phone call from a very condescending woman who tells me that since I don't  have three routes of more than a mile each they're considering not letting me app[ly for another guide dog after mine retires. Of course, this is because they count the entire bloody  centre of where I live as one mile, irrispective of how complex it is to navigate or what places I need to find. They've demanded I learn routes in Nottingham where my parents live, which is bonkers since I don't go there.
This i suspect is because they're having a shortage of dogs at the moment, but honestly this is down right crazy, as well as feeling very prejudiced against anyone who does not live in a huge city, indeed what gives the right of a bunch of sighted people to decide whether I! need a guide dog (when I've had one for the past eight years), is entirely beyond me! God I'm sick of bureaucrats, and pointless people running everything!

Needless to say if I don't have a dog, I'll be pretty stuck considering my wife does, of course I can get around with a cane (did it for 17 years), however not when trying to follow someone else with a guide dog and especially when trying to learn my way around new places.

anyway, just to make things even more cheerful today, I get a phone call from my parents telling me my god mother died. Its not entirely surprising, she was in her eighties and went very peacefully, but its still a really sad thing to happen, and I hope my god father is alright.

So today has thus far been an absolute bundle of laughs, particularly considering Mrs. Dark is still feeling ill and likely will have to go back to the doctor for a third time tomorrow despite two courses of antibiotics.

Hi everyone,
For me, it has been a good month so far.
With summer holidays starting this weekend and the ICC 2019 in England (which will probabbly be one of the highlights of my summer) around the corner, this month is promising so far.

Regarding Harry Potter, I really like the fifth book, I find the career advice part especially funny.
The book I dislike the most is the fourth one because I feel like there's not really much going on plot-wise during the better part of the book, while all the plot is slammed into your face at the end, which seems a bit overwhelming to me.

Regarding games, I am getting back to play Death Match: Project Alpha and hopefully also going to finish the extra missions this time.

I wish you all an awesome July with not too much heat!

Greetings and happy gaming, Julian
BTW, give me a thumbs up if you like my Posts!

July was a bad month for me.
It took me a year to get into the habit of exercising every day for about two hours.
But because of the nature of the work.
As a result, my work and rest are not regular, and I can't fall asleep until almost two o'clock in the morning every day. Therefore, my lack of energy during the day once led to my unwillingness to exercise.
Today, I think I've adjusted. In about 40 minutes, I'll try to exercise. I hope it won't be as bad as I thought.

The Goblet of Fire is actually my favorite Harry Potter book. There's just enough angst to not make it overbearing as the fifth book is, the challenges themselves are very well-written, and the ending is amazing. I know most people hate on Order of the Phoenix, and I can't say I blame them for the most part, but for some reason, I've always found The Chamber of Secrets to be the worst book in the franchise. There's very little interesting stuff that happens in that book, and the ending just serves to set Harry and Ginny up for being the "perfect couple", which has never sat right with me. So he saved her, big whoop. That basically makes her a classic damsel in distress, made all the more sickening by the ending of the series in which they name their children after their heroes. UGH!

The glass is neither half empty nor half full. It's just holding half the amount it can potentially hold.

2019-07-06 08:52:31

Agreed. Chamber of Secrets is the worst, followed by Philosopher's Stone IMHO.
Goblet of Fire is one of my favourite books, but I didn't hate Order of the Phoenix. I recognize its flaws, but I think a lot of good stuff happens there.

Previously to this reread I think I'd have agreed on chamber of secrets being the weakest book, mostly due to the mystery feeling more disconnencted from the plot and yes, Ginny being less than a particularly astounding character, however during this reread it wasn't quite as bad, actually as I said, we were most unimpressed by halfblood prince due to how all the characters (even Hagrid), started being absolute arses in this book.
Personally, I always liked Order of the phoenix, and I'd probably regard it as the best book so far. Umbridge is such an awesome villain and things just go wondefully dark that any moment of triumph really sticks out. While I am not a fan of  how Harry  or the anxt, at the same  it is at least just Harry who is a git there, indeed Ron is comparatively likable, where in Goblet of fire he was a right arsehole, though as I said I really don't like the hole "teenaged boys are emotional meetheads who need everything explained to them by girls", particularly given that Hermione doesn't exactly seem the type to be hugely emotionally sensitive up until that point.
As regards Ginny, for me she was just too perfectly written to be Harry's girlfriend. He saves her (as Turtlepower said), and she's an awesome quidich player, and she plays jokes on people, and she's really pretty and all the boys want to go out with her, and she's better at jokes than Fred and George.

if Harry potter has a succeedinator character, its Ginny.
Really, I'm still of the opinion Harry should've ended up with Luna, and Nevil should've ended up with Ginny, then again as I said before, I definitely have a thing for gentle, rather eccentric ladies so I'm hardly unbiased here myself, although at school I was probably more like Hermione than harry big_smile.

In other news things have been quiet. i finally got hold of the bbv doctor who stories. These were done in the very late nineties and early two thousands, before  finish really got started, when the Bbc didn't really care  Doctor who very much.

They had a lot of Dr. who actors,  and a lot of fudging to get around copywrite, EG time travellers called Ace and the professor instead of the Doctor (even though Ace called the 7th doctor professor much of the time anyway).

Its interesting to see Ace actually behaving like a 17 year old girl for once, albeit a pretty tough one, rather than the ultra hard case space warrior she turned into in later stories, also this was the point that audio adventures  were still able to do weird and surreal stuff that you'd not get elsewhere.

I've finished the first series, but now intend to have a break and go on to Dragondrumbs by Anne McCaffry. I'm really getting irritated at the Sjw crowd who keep maligning McCaffery and calling her a misogynist, especially when she's clearly depicting a society where genders were not equal, and even more especially since she was one of the first female sf and fantasy authors back in the seventies.

Oh her books have their issues (I've already reviewed several and have no problem pointing said issues out), but the way she's being pilloried at the moment, especially with her no longer here to defend herself is actually rather dire.

Other than that I've been trying to basically relax from all the shit that's been going on recently, so lots of playing of trimps and continuing with harry Potter, i also hope this latest antibiotic is going to help Mrs. Dark feel a bit better since that makes things very grim indeed.

2 hours of exercise every day! If only I could motivate myself to do half that every now and then it would be an improvement. It can't be that bad to skip a day every now and then, I guess as long as it doesn't break the over all routine. The not being able to sleep sounds like a problem though, it can't be very healthy to not get enough sleep every day.

@Dark:
I would agree with you there, most of the sports involving a ball are not very much playable to us. (Football comes to mind.)

But even then, Cricket is much more playable to us. yes, you have to use the uneerarm bowling, other ise it will turn in to the practical experimentation for the probability.

Other reason why I like this sport in particular is because I played it during the school. even in the underarm bowling, I always spin the ball quite well. (After all, if you do good in a sport, that is obvious reason to like it.)

As for the forest officer, strangely the news about that entire matter has disappeared. I suspect politics behind that.

In other news, India got to the finals, we will be playing with New Zealand at ninth July. my progress regarding the blog has sadly stopped.

Also, I am considering picking up a Anime for watching, something which I haven't done for quite a while.

@Dark eagle, my dislike of sports isn't really related to lack of sight, there are plenty of blind football and cricket fans over here, and people who play various ball games with balls with bells in, (not just goalball, but also football, cricket, basket ball,  etc).

I just personally  have never found any of that sort of thing interests me whatsoever. Maybe its that I'm not really a competitive person accept with myself, maybe that its that I really hate patriotism, so couldn't care less whether some people supposedly representing the bit of rock I live on manage to hit or kick balls or whatever better than some people from some other bit of rock.
I'm not sure, but either way, sports have just never interested me at all.

Hopefully Mrs. Dark is feeling better. Also we received a card through the male which we believe is her new residency permit. This is good news indeed, since had she been denied we'd be in deep trouble, albeit we'll still have all this crap to do again in another couple of years, though god knows what sort of state immigration will be in by then given they've already changed their damn minds.

I'm also hoping that  new antibiotics Mrs. Dark is on will help, since she's feeling better, and we still need to go and celebrate our wedding anniversary.

Hi,
My month is just going okay. There are some things which I don't like, especially, the starting of my UTs every week from now.
In ninth grade, the chapters of social science are also around 18-20 pages long. I had earlier decided that this year I'll start doing some exercises for my health but the worst thing is that I can't even get some time away from studying.
Besides, I have also started watching some TV shows like Sherlock and Game of thrones. Politicians here in India have gone mad. One was I think throwing mud on someone and one was from Utarakhand who had made some video whose contents I don't remember but then he was banned from the party. I think he was drunk and was doing somethings and even abusing some other people. I am not clear on it.

Winter is coming!

@Dark:
I think I should apologise to you, because I think I miss judged you a little. sorry about that.

@vaibhavbhandari:
You're right. they most certainly have gone mad. just previous weak, I saw in the news that a politician was throwing a bucket full of mud over a civil engineer, because apparently there were few holes in the road. also, I sympathise with you on the social science subject, frankly, I am glad that I never have to read that subject after tenth. specially when it doesn't ad any value other then enhancing the workload... or that's how I felt.

Well, my month is going just fine, other than India getting themselves outed from the tournament. everyone is giving the players a lot of flack for that... including the coach, asisstant coach, selectors... I think you get the point.

My result of first year exam have still not arrived, despite the exams being over since thirtieth April. also, I think my programming teacher doesn't want me anymore, (A sad face.)

@Dark eagle I'm a bit confused why your appologising to me, since I really don't see what you need to appologise for.

I'm not entirely sure what social science is, since while I did do psychology later at sschool, and had this really pointless subject called personal and social education, we never actually studied it.
I did had to read a lot of sociology for my phd, since most of the writers on disability are sociologists, though that just told me sociologists tend to like to make group assumptions and tend to assume everyone behaves the same way as people of their respective gender/skin colour/age/sexual orientation or whatever.

Really the subject struck me as a little pointless because of its major set of assumptions and stereotypes.

Politics in India sounds about as nuts as politics over here. Right now we have so much idiotcy about which of the latest conservative morons will be the next prime minister its not funny,  honestly they're all bloody stupid and blatantly out for themselves. [email protected] rather wondering whats going to happen next year with the election given people are right royally pissed at the hole lot of them right now.

As for me, I've had a good couple of days with Mrs. Dark finishing off Harry potter and the deathly hallows. The book has generally been awesome, but Harry himself really falls into the trap of being an arrogant and often not very nice hero. Really there are so many occasions in which he's just plane not very sensitive, like the occasion he shows absolutely no compassion about Hermione's reluctance to use the wand she was actually tortured with!

I also don't like the lies and occasions when Harry really just doens't trust people, for example, why didn't he just tell the goblins "look I need to borrow the sword of gryfindor, you can have it back when I'm finished!" rather than a stupid double cross plan.

Though harry doesn't get as bad, its rather like what happens to October Daye in the series by Seanon McGuire, when characters start being "heroes!" they suddenly turn arrogant no reason.

Its also been nice to have a break since last week was bloody awful. In particular, there is a woman from Guide dogs who honestly looks like prof umbridge who is supposedly responsible for my application for a new dog when Reever retires, but is actually a lying toe rag who talks to everyone as though they're five year olds, then tells complete and utter lies about the meetings.

Honestly, she's one of the single worst people I've met, and right now it seems that the decision about whether I'm allowed to reapply is up to her, so all we can do is delay things and hope she leaves.

Really I'm damn sick o petty, power mad burocrats like her running the world!

Then again on the  side hopefully Mrs. Dark will be feeling well enough this week to head to the cinema. The Kid who would be king looks like rather silly fun, so we plan to see that and go and get some nice grub at an awesome local Italian, assuming Mrs. Dark is feeling well enough.

So that's what's happening now, things have honestly been rather stressful, but hopefully are going to pick up.

@Dark:
I apologised, because I think I made asumptions about your dislike of the sports which use balls.

As for the social science, it is basically the subject in which geography, sivics, (political structure of a country,) history, etc. are covered about the country in which you live in.

I personally liked the geography. specially the mineral part. I always had a strange urge to eat those minerals. it also helped that in the early days of the subject, we did covered the space, stars and our solar system. later these topics were shifted to science, with more detail.

I really liked those topics, specially when I watched discovery channal when it used to air those shows about these topics, instead of endless survival shows.

Ha!
I must agree with you on that dark eagle. Nowadays I have also seen mostly survival shows in discovery and the other shows I don't like much.
I remember earlier I used to watch Science of stupid and brain games which used to come on National Geographic channle. Don't know if they come now or not?
In our computer class our teacher told my other blind classmate and me that we will start Python from July. But she didn't teach anything like that. She was explaining the other children about some MIT app inventor that they willl learn now.
This week I had my mathematics UT and I must say that it was very easy for me. I'm hoping for marks around 32 out of 35. I had feared about the questions that will come from the chapter lines and angles but it was for-not. They weren't much difficult.
And about the Harry Potter books, I have read them all. The worst thing I felt that was Harry's friends. I mean in the first four books, Rowling has shown that he had only two friends and I repeat only two not including his quiditch mates as they didn't come often. After reading the book when I thought about it a bit, I just felt that the win against Voldemort was just like a coincidence. I didn't like the ending.
I must say that the pairing which I don't think about much but still it was very weard.
Woops, I think I ranted a lot. Sorry. smile
Edit: I also had a question and I don't know where to ask it so I just thought I'll ask it here. Earlier the forum used to send Emails about if we got any reply to our post or topic but it has stopped happening since a while back. Is their any reason for it?
