Hi community!
I will put this here cause i think it is not completely offtopic.
Has anyone here tryed to run an android-system on a pretty normal desktop-pc?
I know there is an android-port called android-x86. I am not sure if the accessibility-features are implemented. Some old information of 2013 says no, but maybe this changed? Whats for sure is, that we would need sighted help to install android-x86. Thats a little shame, but OK.
I also tryed to run Bluestax. But this themes not realy accessible for us. On that i am not completely sure. Maybe there are some workarrounds.
Thats all what i tryed till now. Did someone here allready found a good solution?

Best wishes to all! And a nice weekend too!

Hi.
The only thing I have heard about is Android version 4 as a virtual machine which have Talkback. Otherwise I'm not sure about what's accessible. I have heard about an emulator where you can run Android apps, but I don't know if it's accessible.

Best regards SLJ.

No, the emulator surely isn't accessible. What I am wondering is how gestures are handled in this Android x86? I heart it has talkback build in, but I personally haven't tried it yet

If you want to contact me, do not use the forum PM. I respond once a year or two, when I need to write a PM myself. I apologize for the inconvenience.

Hi SLJ: Do you think onli Version 4 was able to emulate Talkback? I am not sure but i think i saw a post wich tells that they did not implement accessibilityfeatures in the x86-builds. And i dont know if they did it later or if they did it onli for one version and deleted it later again. Its not easy to get informations about this..

There's an android 5.0 virtual machine out there with talkback in it. And android n doesn't use gestures, it relies on the keyboard, so using android n is pretty much like using a bluetooth keyboard with your android phone.

Hi Jack!
Any idear where i can get this image?

2017-03-05 00:26:16

right here

Does this work independently in itself or does it need something like VMWare or something that can run emulators? Another question: does Talkback comes enabled with that?

2017-03-05 16:43:35

You need at least vmware player. This is actually better for you because Android x86 originally required virtual box as far as virtualization was concerned. With it converted to vmware player, it's now better than ever. And Talkback does come enabled.

Hi Jack! When you are talking about  Vmware you mean virtual box, wright?

2017-03-05 18:31:41

No.
VMWare and VirtualBox are two completely different products made by different companies.

AAAAAH! i thought VM is a shortage for virtual machine. So VM ware means all programs wich are used for creating virtual machines. My fault.

Oops! Seems like there's something not working when playing the virtual machine! I'm used to run VMs and I know how that works, probably I have downloaded the wrong version of VMWhere on this PC.
Edit: Well actually what I thought was true, downloaded another version of VMWare and it's working fine. The problem is that I couldn't change ESpeak's extremely slow speech rate in the TTS options, pressing enter then the arrow keys did nothing.

Hi Riad, could you upload your Version of vm ware? Or is it simply the latest one? Oh i would need the Version for 32bit-systems. I am using some pices of older hardware.

have anyone try  remiks o s

2017-04-27 08:17:54

I tryed Remix OS but it doesn't seem to work with talkback from the experience I made. But I have some questions regarding the android 5.0 VM with talkback
Have you tryed other speech engines than espeak? Do they work?
Is the Installation of apps from the playstore working well?

2017-04-27 11:24:55

Hello.
My friend tried it and it is ok with all things.
He instals apps from play store and much, much more.

I am myself and noone is ever gonna change me, I am the trolling master!

2017-04-27 11:41:56

okay, what does he use? The 5.0 VM wich has been posted in this thread? And if I understood right, it works best with VMware, is this correct?

2017-04-27 18:54:45

Or do you mean that your friend uses remix Os? If he uses the VM linked above, it might be worth a try for me as well, since I am currently using a 4.4 machine but have problems with the playstore. It seems that the playstore is hanging in the download process of apps I want to install but he doesn't complete the download. And another thing: Does anyone know how to access the notification bar with a keyboard?

sorry for so much posts above, I forgot to edit the post.

Has anybody answers to these questions?
Thank you

Another thing: I downloaded the 5.1 VM but how to use it now? It's packed with 7zip but were I have to copy or open wich things in VMWare? I mean, how to use it? I haven't imported or used such images in VMware before. Sorry for so many questions.
