I really wish that QTranslate would allow me to paste the whole manual in. Keeps timing out when I do that, so have to translate bits at a time.

Could always use something like google's document translation. Really it's not that bad though and the manual isn't very long.

Guys, before checking for updates in 2.0, run the game as admin. This way the game update will actually download. Otherwise, nothing will download and it'll just say finished.

Hello.
I'm from Brazil, but I haven't played the game that much. However, I translated the first part of the game manual, but
I think I'll need help to
translate the rest because of time constraints.

Here is the translated part and sorry for the spelling errors.

1.0. Introduction

In this chapter you'll learn about the following topics:
* What is Desafio Mortal: a brief description of how the game works
and in what concepts it is based.
* System requirements: what your computer needs to run the game correctly.
* Running the game at the first time: some details you'll need to know
when running the game at the first time.
* Main menu: detailed description of each item of the game's main menu.
* Options: detailed description of all the available settings.
* Creating your first character: step by step instructions in how to
create your first character and connecting to the game.
* Connecting: how to connect to the game with a previously created
account.
* Commands reference: detailed description of the game commands, split
in categories.
* Items: a general description of all the items on the game and what
they serve for.
* Credits: thanks to all people that contribute to Desafio Mortal.

1.1. What is Desafio Mortal

Desafio Mortal whas thought from the concept that, to have a cool and
fun game, you don't need to make it paid, the game doesn't need to be
heavy on computer resources
or ridiculously full of features. It only needs to be full of good ideas,
player suggestions, and of course, be interactive!
It is an online game, with various diverse maps
in that you can walk, run, jump, climb,
go up and down staircases, collect, exchange, sell, or even alction a
variety of items; use public transport mediums, cast spells... And
more importantly: survive the mortal chalenge. and what this chalenge
be that, you ask? Survive!

In this game, you not only can but should engage in combat with other players
in an unfinishable war: a large variety of weapons are available,
ranging from light knives to very destructive bombs! Do you think you can manage such chalenge?

1.2. System requirements

To play Desafio Mortal with total performance and accessibility, you'll
need the following prerequisites:
    * 100 MB free memory
* Stereo sound speakers or headphones (to make the best experience
possible from the game).
    * AMD C-60 APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics processor or better
    * Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10.

1.3. Running the game at the first time

After you install the game and run it at the first time, you'll be asked
if you want to use SAPI speech. In case you choose yes, the game
messages will be spoken by a SAPI voice installed in your computer.
In case you choose no, the game messages will be spoken by the current
screen reader active.
This setting can be changed later in the game.

1.4. The main menu
When the game opens, it will display the main menu. You use the arrow
keys to cycle through the options, and the ENTER key to make your
choice.
These are the options:
    * Connect: lets you connect to the server.
* Test speakers: plays a sound to check if your sound speakers or
headphones are positioned correctly.
* "Your username is (username). Press enter to change.". This is an
self-explaining function.
From it, you can configure another character.
* "Your password is set. Press enter to know it."
In case if you don't have a created account on the server, this option will
display differently. It is useful in case you want to know your password
or change it with a new one in case you changed it with another internal
way.
    * Create a new account: Lets you create a new account on the server.
    * Settings: Opens the game's options menu.
* Advanced settings: opens the advanced options menu, that you can use to
recover your password if you forgot it.
* Check for updates: in case if your game version becomes out of date
and you can't access the server, use this option to download the latest
version.
* Check for patch: Similarly for the previously describbed option, this
option lets you check for any patches that the game needs to run
properly.
* Please, make a donation to keep the server running.
    * Quit: quits the program

1.5. Game settings

When you run the program, you'll be located in the main menu.
From the options available, you'll find a menu called Settings, which,
in turn, is split in General Settings and Profile settings. The
first menu contains the following options:
* Select output device: lets you set the audio output device that you
want to use in the game.
* Disable confirmation at exit: when you are connected on the game, you
can use the escape key to disconnect from it. By default the game asks
if you are realy sure that you want to exit. Use this option to disable this
behavior.
* Disable warnings when someone logs on or off: by default, the game
tells you when someone logs on or off from the server. Use this option to
change this.
* Disable logo playback at startup: by default, when you open the game you'll hear
its logo sound. Use this option to change that.
* Disable voice chat: in the game you can use the f key to speak
something to other players. With this option you can set if you want to
receive and send such messages or not.
* Press F to speak: by default, this setting allows you to press f one
time to speak and and then release to interrupt the recording. Use that setting
to change if you want to press f to speak and press f a second time to send the
message.
* SAPI voice mode: with that option you can choose if you want a SAPI
voice or your screen reader to read the game messages.
Disable screen reader interrupt: In case your screen reader doesn't
stops speaking if a key is pressed, this option will by default make
that happen. Use it to alternate.
* Enable updates checking at startup: when this option is enabled, the
client will check at startup if any new version is available.

Here are the available options in the Profile Settings menu:
* Select voice: your character can speak different things when some
events on the game happen. In this option, you can choose your
character's voice.

1.6. Creating your first character

In the main menu, select the "create a new account" option.
The game will ask you your character's name.
After that, you'll need to enter a valid e-mail address that will be
used for the characters' password recovery process.
After that, the game will ask you your password. Enter it and your
account will be created.

1.7. Connecting

By default, your newly created account will be already set up.
You'll only need to select, in the main menu, the "connect" option.

Prove it. And I don't mean "I'm the developer of BTB, I'd recognize my own code." I mean show us snippets from his code compared with your code.

Otherwise, stop making assertions you can't back up.

Sorry if I'm a bit harsh here. But if you don't want to play this game, and think it is an ultrapower clone, or whatever it is, just leave this topic alone! You don't need to step in, and say "Hey! This is an ultrapower clone, or /btb clone!" This guy has done a very good job, and he should receives a thumbs up for good!

2017-03-01 05:37:24

This game is great! I love the quests, and everything else, haven't tried the other cities because of lack of coins, but this is amazing, great job.

2017-03-01 05:37:51

Yeah, a good job? A good job at what, making maps? That's about it. All of the bugs maybe, one or 2 fixed, are still there. O yeah, something I did a long time ago, the virtualizer, used for input boxes in the game...the only version of that virtualizer that had that tab key enabled was the btb virtualizer. Not only that, but I go in and type /help and its probably the exact same thing aside a few modifications. I also tried hidden commands and they worked, /123 says that I can't do that, yeah, that reboots NVDa on the currently hosted machine. Is there anymore I need to go on about? Come on, if I did something like this you would all be going down the admin's throats to ban me.

2017-03-01 06:10:55

A few things:

1. Blinkwizard, would you mind telling us about some of these hidden commands that will verify your claim? Right now, you are providing only the equivalent of hearsay. This doesn't mean you're wrong, but it does mean you're in this thread making potentially injurious claims about the originality of a game's source code, when that source code is not, as far as I know, publicly available. The phrase "put your money where your mouth is" comes to mind. And if you're right, we'll all have proof. You have nothing to lose.

2. Thank you to the user who actually posted the manual in its translated form. Things like that are one of the reasons why the community still exists. There are still nice people out there who do unpaid work for nothing at all in exchange. I'm still holding out, but I like that there is progress being made both with the game and with its translation.

3. When defining a clone, there are two different definitions. Either or both may be true, but one must be true in order to define something as a clone.
A clone must either
a) borrow very heavily from a pre-existing game's source code, to such an extent that it is readily apparent OR
B) borrow very heavily from the gameplay style of a pre-existing game or games, beyond simply emulating the basic mechanics of the genre. As such, calling TechnoShock a Shades of Doom clone fails because they're only first-person shooters; in almost every other way they're quite different. Ditto Paladin of the Sky and Entombed. However, Manamon would fall under the definition of a pokemon clone, because the gameplay similarities, beyond just catching monsters and making them fight I mean, is pretty staggering.
Now, remember what I said about clones. They're not necessarily a bad thing, particularly the second kind. People borrow concepts all the damn time, and not just in video games. But as far as source code goes, copying it pretty much verbatim is a bad idea, so accusing a game of being a source-code-style clone is a much bigger deal than claiming that the game is ripping off some game or other in a thematic way. And with greater claims comes a greater responsibility to either put up or shut up, as it were.

@Jaid, well said.

2017-03-01 06:15:48

So I'm curious, where are the quests in this game? I've gone into these areas such as the graveyard and, as I said before, it seems like an area just for PK.
What is the phone booth for? Is that part of a quest? If so which one? I went in there and dialed 911 for shits and giggles, but that was just a bit of fun and don't know where to get the quests. I saw a huge gathering killing each other in the RS Bar earlier today, was cool to watch, but if I want a game where I can kil other players I'll play Redspot.
Which, I really don't, which is why I haven't even opened Redspot.

2017-03-01 08:11:27

How did you make the game work, guys?
For me it still doesn't connect....

2017-03-01 08:50:55

Well-said Jade, and until I see proof that this game is a clone of whatever Ultrapower is...or was, I'll see if I can get it to run.  Never played btb or ultrapower, so don't really care one way or the other other, but making claims without proof doesn't help your case any.  Be glad you don't play things in the sighted community, or I think things would blow your mind.
