Between each major release we like to focus on adding more content across the board, version 1.41 is all about this. Additionally, during this release we reached 2,000 concurrent players for the first time; a major milestone for the game!

Some notable new content we have added follows.

Macro Botanist

A new Macro Botanist skill has been added allowing players to create macro-organisms by combining rDNA parts. This organisms can then be released on a planet with varying effects good and bad, ranging from macro-organisms that can cause blight and mutate wildlife, to others that can purify commodities or create population booms. To support this new skill, two new missions have been added as well as a new Macro Focus boost, objective tracker and skill focused consumables and books.

Augmentation

A new augmentation skill is now available, allowing players to augment their characters with offensive and defensive capabilities to use in combat. This can range from subtle augmentations like sub-dermal pulse emitters to more extensive augmentations like replacing your entire arm with an auto-cannon, or deployable buzz blades fitted to the inside of the arms. The augmentations require low slots to use, so the key will be finding the right mix to your combat style. Additionally, each race has different augmentations to choose from.

Dozens of augmentations are available to choose from and new books have been added to help train this skill.

Live Radio Station

The popular ambient music used in TextSpaced which is played when not partaking in activities has been changed to a live radio station, complete with in-game adverts and idents. The radio station can be listened to outside of the game by visiting https://radio.textspaced.com/live and we plan to use this platform to push in-game announcements and world building events in the future.

Situations

A new situations section has been added to the system entry screen that currently lists power outages or macro-organisms present. We plan shortly for other situations to be added to the game, ranging from natural disasters to civil unrest to have real effects and be listed here, as well as in the system information screen.

Fuel Scooping

Inline with changes to how fuel works, a new fuel scooping equipment category and skill to optimise their usage has been added. Fuel Scoops can be fitted to a ship allowing the captain to scoop fuel from a body type the scoop supports.

New Ships

Four new ships have been added: the Marquess for the Merchant Guild, the Cargo Liner for the Movers Guild as well as the Builder for the Civilian Guild and a new exotic ship only available by completing a character job.

Falling inline with trading ships now generally being able to trade fuel as part of their role, the Marquess is a new trading ship that has massive amounts of fuel storage, allowing it to trade fuel with other players even in the depths of space; a real money spinner in the current game climate.

Designed to deal with the ever-expanding needs of modern factions, the Cargo Liner is a slow moving ship built with a singular purpose; to move massive amounts of cargo. With a hold rating at 80,000 Mgs, the Cargo Liner is a behemoth in terms of logistics a speciality of the Movers guild.

The Builder is a construction craft larger than a Serf but smaller than an Engineer, designed for mid-range construction tasks. The Builder features a faster speed than other construction ships at 0.15 LYs/m and plenty of power for equipment.

New Crew

Two new crew roles have been added, the Handler and Hacker. The Handler can utilise training grounds for relevant wildlife on your ship to train them on the move, where as the Hacker improves all forms of hacking including hacking treasuries and cyber warfare.

What will be in version 1.5?

We plant to add the following tenants to TextSpaced in version 1.5:

- Multiple selection of items (cargo, buying)
- Defining your colonies focus across multiple metrics
- Upkeep balance change to be an exponential scale instead of linear
- New macro structures including a spatial research structure
- Exploring wrecks through narrative, similar to interaction charting
- Ship based combat (and adding defensive rooms) - including stealing cargo or damaging a ship
- A sublight idle game for optimising speed and fuel usage

That’s right, the next major release as described will have the ability to change the focus of your colony.

Hello. I have never played this game. Can the game be played on mobile devices?

Hello! Yes it can be played on any device with a web browser, it’s a web app.

2024-03-17 11:09:16

@TextSpaced, Yes I know it. But I should still ask again to make sure, Because not all web games can be played on mobile devices, It depends on how much the developer supports that game on mobile devices. But, if you have confirmed it, I believe it is completely playable with my Android device. Thank! I will definitely try it smile.

ok so when is there a projected release date for the colony stuff?

We don’t tend to assign exact release dates, but the entirety of version 1.5 should be at a minimum several months of work.

The ability to adjust the focus of your colony across several metrics will be the smallest feature of the release, as doing this simply dictates what your colony will produce, what their area of focus will be and their response to threats.

2024-03-17 14:04:14

so what can you tell your colonies to produce then? i'm assuming this doesnt include escort ships for yourself?

Conversing with the developers, the options are expected to be as follows. Changing one category will affect the others as they are a shared pool of effort. Meaning the maximum one focus could be is 100% and the maximum all of them could be is 11% (100 divided by 9 areas of focus) or any combination thereof that adds up to 100.

Amenities
Increases population happiness and effectiveness of amenity structures at the system.

Defence
Improves the quality of enlisted ships that will join combat in range of the colony and the effectiveness of defence structures at the same body.

Industry
Increases crafting and fabrication by the faction with higher chances of new structures being built by the colony.

Mining
Improves the effectiveness of mining structures at the same body.

Trading
The colony will take part in trade of their goods and the effectiveness of trading structures is improved.

Security
The colony will protect the population from outside threats such as wildlife or Outlanders.

Sustainability
The colony will gather consumables and hunt wildlife in a sustainable way with the chance of new consumables and wildlife becoming abundant.

Research
Increases research efforts with the chance of the colony finding new technology and research centres on the same body are more effective.

Unassigned
Increases population growth.

so if colonies can be set to trade then where do the credits go that are made by the trade? do they get split between all people in that faction or do they sit at the colony and if this is the case what can be done with them.

Like with all trading with structures, credits are added to structure profits to later be distributed amongst the faction and cargo is added to the hold.

2024-03-17 20:54:02

so who trades with the colonies is this passive via npc's or can players contribute to this as well.

Talking with the developers this has yet to be play tested. But it will likely be that the colony will trade with nearby systems to generate structure profits. Additionally, items procured or created will be sold at a merchant structure at the same body.

What are the differences between the live radio station and Twinkle Radio? I just re-logged into the game and noticed that live radio wasn't Twinkle Radio, E.G. what I was hearing in-game.

Is there an easy filter to find uncharted planets? My faction is so big that it takes over a day and a half to find undiscovered systems.

The live radio station and Twinkle Radio are the same thing. The game uses the live radio station now which is better for load, but also means everyone is listening to the same music at the same time, when not in an activity. It also means things can be scheduled and in fact on Earth Day the Descendants take over the radio station. Lastly we can push audio announcements if we need to.

To find the nearest uncharted planets you are aware of, open the helm window, choose search and in the systems section change the body type to “nearest uncharted”.

Hi.
I have decided to give the game yet an other try. I went ahead and deleted my account to create a new one so I could start from scratch.

The games interface have really improved from last time I tried the game very long time ago. Thanks so much. Now it's so easy to navigate.

How do I chat with other players? Has that feature been removed?

I have completed the basic mission and simulated a combat. I got totally stressed out because of the timer in the combat. I don't get how the combat work at all. I hope I'll get it later. I don't care much about combat, but I'm more interested in mining and exploring.

I think this game needs more basic missions to teach newbies how the game works, or maybe some YOutube videos with tutorials from screenreader users.

Well, I really hope I'll get used to the game this time, because it seems so cool.

Edit:
I figured out how to chat in the game. The tutorial doesn't say anything about the "Comms" link. smile

Best regards SLJ.

am going to wait until especially resource management is a little more simplified than it used to be. i always found that part of it a chore. as much as i love the game and still support it financially.

2024-04-21 10:01:22

Hi.
First, I have a bug to report:
The chat doesn't work very well when using Safari on my Mac. The focus jumps randomly around when using VOiceover.
What can I do in the game while traveling or mining? It seems like when moving away from the mining screen or traveling screen, the activity stops but I'm not sure on that.

Best regards SLJ.

no, the activity will still run, even if you close the window. sometimes it doesn't update if you're not focus on the page, yes, but staying on the page for a few seconds should resink the progress.

2024-04-21 11:46:53

Okay, thanks a lot.
But, I don't get how to resume to the activity page after I, for example, have checked my cargo.
The learning curve in this game is extreme, combined with a lot of things you can kind of mess up because you don't pay attention.
I have just waisted 3 hours. The tutorial talks about the missions you should look out for as a newbie. So far so good. I have completed a few of them which is awesome. Then, I decided to fly out on a mission where I should pick something up in my cargo, and deliver it to somewhere else. I accepted the mission, and started a flight, which took about 3 hours even when using fuel. I didn't got any warning at all, so I thought everything was okay.
I finally arrived at my destination, and tried to pick up the objective. Then, I got a warning that my cargo was too small, and I couldn't pick up what I needed.
Yes, I know I could have checked my cargo before flying out on the long flight. But, why are missions available to me which I cannot complete? Why do I not get any warning sooner as a newbie?
So, now I'm flying back to Nova again which takes the same amount of time, so I get back to where I started.
I'm seriously thinking about dropping the game again after this.
My goal is now to follow the rest of the getting started guide and see how far I get.
I wish the game had a system so things got unlocked as you need them. All the information is available to you at the beginning, which is extremely overwhelming. When looking at the different missions, I even don't know if I have what's required. So I'm done doing the missions for now.

Best regards SLJ.

to return to the main interface, you should see a link called "close window" below the combobox, click it.
I feel you about the learning curve. I failed some mission too, really had to read thoroughly to get the ones that you could complete, to make it easyer, you can figure out the filter adjustment on the mission window. It took sometimes for me to get used to the game too.

2024-04-21 12:48:16

Thank you. smile
Now I'm stuck on buying a construction ship to start bilding, as described in the getting started guide.
I have 96.216 credits, and the builder ship in the construction category cost 7.200 credits. But the buy button is unavailable, like if I didn't had enough credits.
I bought 1 crew for my current ship, and tried to buy one more, but that didn't helped.
Any clue on what I'm missing? Or am I somehow reading the amounts of credits wrong? The numbers are copied from the website.
In the meantime, I'll start mining, and do something else in the real world. smile

If you click into a ships details it will list all the requirements needed to buy and command the ship. In your case it will most likely be a skill requirement.

2024-04-22 02:51:47

this is sad, I can't find any unclaimed systems
