I have just received a desktop computer. I installed NVDA, but for some reason, it only started with the microsoft core voices, which I don't like. I tried to install Espeak online but it didn't work. The change button under speech settings doesn't work, it just makes the entire menu close. What could be wrong?

Hello,
you don't need to install ESpeak.
Since a few years, NVDA just starts up with OneCore by default as people find it more pleasant.
Press NVDA CTRL S though to open a dialog to select your synthesizer, and ESpeak should be included in the list and you should be able to switch to it.
