well i am running on android 10, and loving the new talkback changes...
The braille keyboard is not that buggy, the web navigation works great and i love the fact that i can swipe one finger down and up to move for example between headings and links... good job so far google.

best regards

I've noticed, seac controlls are now called "sliders." And instead of using volume keys to ajjust, i used swip up and down to ajjust and it worked for me...

Hey. I am trying to use the talkback voice command. But It says, error recognizing voice shortcut after doing the gesture to activate it. What could be wrong? Just wanna try this out

2021-03-02 10:47:07

Same problem as 79. I'm not using any words, I use the swipe combination indicated and I get the response: "error recognizing voice shortcut"

2021-03-02 11:16:44

wait...does this work on android 10 too? I mean, multifinger gestures? I herd they are available only in android 11.

2021-03-02 12:24:13

no. MFG only works on droid11.

@80, the command that I am using to activate that voice command is swipe right and up but as what I've said, it says "Error activating voice shortcut. It is after I do the gesture, swipe right and up

O and I just recently updated my A51 from android 10 to android 11.

2021-03-02 14:34:50

You did allow the app to access the microphone right? I've had the same issue but I believed it was due to the custom rom, but maybe there's a problem as well.

2021-03-02 15:10:16

does it wait before giving the error?

Yeah, allow Microphone access...

I allowed microphone access, still does the same thing imediately. I then set it to ask for permission each time then used the gesture. It asked for permission to use the mike, I gave it and got the same error imediately.
I'm running android 11 on a Galaxy S10+.

2021-03-03 00:55:03

Yes, I did allow the microphone but no avail. O here's what I've noticed too. I can't find the braille keyboard in talkback settings. Where is the braille keyboard? Did they remove it?

2021-03-03 01:00:45

Ah, that explains it. You still have the old Samsung Talkback that was released before this version. Try checking for updates in the Galaxy store, but it's possible it's not available yet for Samsung devices, don't have one myself so can't confirm this.

2021-03-03 01:04:01

Hi.

The probable cause for the voice commands not working on your Samsung device is because you're using Samsung's version of TalkBack. Somehow, they are two different versions of TalkBack. Samsung's is direct replacement for Voice Assistant, and it being installed has resulted in Google's TalkBack being uninstalled from the device, with no possibility of installation.

Google's version of TalkBack, 9.1, is being rolled out to devices that can't get Samsung TalkBack, such as Samsung phones running Android 10 and earlier, and every other Android phone that could run TalkBack 8.2. The thing with Google's TalkBack is that multi-finger gestures won't work on phones that aren't made by Google (Pixels) running Android 11 and the March 2021 security update.

Of course, one can use a tool like ADB AppControl to uninstall Samsung's TalkBack on Android 11 and install Google's TalkBack, but, based on what I've written above, the multi-finger gestures won't work with TalkBack in this setup, as it is not a Pixel.

What a mouthful.

oh its funny you all have the very latest updates and still have trouble.. i am stuck on October 2020 in security and android version 10, but well, no problems. Also, i never used the silly samsung store, what for_ I also would like someone to really enlighten me on all the awesomeness of finger gestures because I frankly don't see much of a point?

Oh no, you have to try pairing it with the physical keyboard I mentioned and now, love too much. Thanks to talkback's shortcuts , any navigation  turns almost into a pc like experience, its kind of amazing.

So the new TB on the S21 doesn't have braille keyboard, but Samsung helped Google with the update? How does that work?

2021-03-04 05:40:00

I have no idea bro. Well, you can get it from apkmirror anyway, so.

to me, yeah, it's just not good, unification system, but i can customize which, you know that's good for me, but i know is it is this same thing. i mean, i wish they can make it up it faster, maybe this just my phone.

2021-03-04 14:22:11

hello
Well, I received latest android accessibility suite update, and I don't know what to do: if Google made this ability to read symbols, words and etc, don't know how this thing called but anyway, if they made this by swiping up and down, and they did the gestures to choose from the this navigation list by swiping up down or down up, and from this moment I don't know what to do because i have no ideas what gestures to use to go to the top or the bottom of the screen, cause I don't have free gestures to setup.

let's rock!

2021-03-04 16:06:11

Well, look at a gesture you dont use and reassign it.

TBH I never found those super useful on a touch screen. You can alway just touch either the top or the bottom and focus there. Now if it actually scrolled all the way to the bottom like it does on iOS, that would be a different story.
That being said, what I often reassign are gestures for home, back or recents, but maybe you need them so it all depends on your preferences.

2021-03-04 20:38:48

@93
People care about multi-finger gestures because iOS has a very good gesture recognition system that makes it so that you have to barely move your fingers, and for those of us who don't want to lug a keyboard everywhere being able to scroll etc. with a small 3-finger flick or whatever rather than the strange things Talkback thinks are a good idea is a very nice thing indeed.

The one thing I've never heard said about Android is that they've suddenly nailed gesture recognition quality.  It certainly used to suck.  I'm not surprised that you don't get the point if you still have to be almost ham-fisted to get Android's gesture recognition for accessibility to like you.
