Just reposting this in case people who aren't on the newsletter want to hear it. You can sign up here if you'd like.
Hi there and happy holidays!
It's Michael and Billy from 2MB Solutions. We know it's been a while, but we'd like to let you know about exciting new developments on the 2MB front, and start a newsletter. That's right, as of now we're starting a newsletter! This is issue one! Aren't you excited? :-). By the way, we're not spamming you right now. You signed up for this newsletter when you bought a product, most likely mine racer or horseshoes, from us. But if you really don't want to receive the awesomeness that is our newsletters to come, there's an unsubscribe button at the bottom. Just please don't click it, we'll be oh so sad if you go :-(.
Anyway, without further adoo, off to the news!
First off, we'd like to appologize to anyone who up until now was unable to download their purchased products. We had a server crash several months ago, and along with the crash, all of our binary releases of 2MB products were lost. As well as losing the binary releases, we haven't had a windows machine to develop on for quite a while, so we had to redo our tools to compile windows games on linux. After a while developing and renting a mac server for mac development purposes, we finally have the games back in business. All that to say that you should now be able to download all of the products you own. In fact, we even released horseshoes for linux and mac as well, so now you can download that too! Again, we appologize to anyone who couldn't access the products, but now you can! :-). For those who haven't purchased or tried horseshoes or mine racer, links will be at the bottom of this email.
Secondly, Billy has released audiogame manager for linux, which allows you to install many audiogames on linux under wine with no fuss or manual configuration required. All you have to do is choose it from a list and click install. Could it be more simple? Anyway, even if you think it could be more simple you should go check it out if you use linux, we promise you'll be pleasantly amazed. He also releases new games about every week and takes requests for new games into consideration. To find audiogame manager go to https://stormgames.wolfe.casa.
Next, We'd like to tell you that in the up and coming months, we'll be launching a 2MB Patron service, which will allow gamers to subscribe to a monthly contribution plan for 2MB, and gain exclusive benefits in return. The details are still being hashed out but could range from behind the scenes access to us, trailers and access to demos before the general public, patron exclusive games not available anywhere else, and much, much more. Stay tuned, and please don't subscribe to anything until the site has fully gone live. I know the games now have a link to it in the main menu, but that was added before I expected to have to recompile the games so soon. DOH!
And lastly, we're working on a cross platform game engine similar to bgt. It is written in c++, will work on mac windows and linux, and will use lua as its scripting engine. If you're interested in beta testing for this engine before it officially enters public beta, please email us: [email protected]. Please only developers of audiogames send in a request, there really won't be anything for general users to test as of yet.
To your fun playing audiogames, and a happy holiday.
-Michael and Billy, 2MB Solutions.
P.S. Again, this is not spam. You signed up for this newsletter at the time of purchasing a product from us. However, if you don't want to receive our ever so delightful email newsletters anymore, there's always an unsubscribe button at the bottom of every email. We'll only be a little sad if you click it :-(.
