Hello,
Thanks to Jake gross, we have speech player in eSpeak for NVDA  2019.3 and newer!
He has integrated it into espeak-ng, making it usable via the eSpeak driver. This also means it will work on linux some day.
Discussions are still going in the pull request, and furtther time will have to pass till a stable version of NVDA will incorporate the new eSpeak, so I thought of packaging it as an add-on, in order to allow people to test it. All what I did was modifying some paths to avoid conflict with the original eSpeak NVDA addon, modify the edward2 voice a little bit, and zzip the addon. All glory goes to Jake Gross.
The rate and rate boost settings don't seem to work yet, otherwise it is ok.

Um, thought ya said the rate boost settings aren't working?

Working great over here...

Running 2020.3 here.
Also, Klatt6 with English West Midlands?
Me like!

If only the new eSpeak could come to the world of the Mac one day.
Same goes for Android. That version needs an upgrade, badly!

the difference is in the klat implementation.

be a hero and stop Coppa now!

This is actually something I could listen to.

Rate boost definitely seems to work here. Awesome stuff.

If this gets released for linux, I will cry. Hard.

2020-12-02 14:12:32

but this sounds just like the normal espeak i am using with nvda...

best regards

voices.

Yep? Way more voices!

@3: I goofed  with the settings a bit, it seems I fixed it back without noticing. is regular espeak available for the mac? If yes, this should happen automatically when the code is merged. Android should come pretty quick, too.
@6: you can prepare your hankerchief, the code is   practigally working, someone just has to build and release it.
@7: change to the edward2 voice variant.

Amazing. Thank you so much. I've been asking NV Access to do this for ages.

I've been going by Bryn, which is now reflected in my profile. Please do your best to respect this :) Mess ups are totally OK though, I don't mind and totally understand!

You know what? I could actually use this!

@rings2006, Assuming you're referring to my post, I use Vocalizer 8 times out of 10, with Eloquence, and then... this.

@Munawar, Damn! What's your Windows, NVDA, and add-on version? Also, I'll take a stool, blood, and DNA sample, and social security number, and finger print, and...

Add-on version is 0.5

Strange! It doesn't silence my speech.

Like wise with the same set up, though running Windows 10 Pro 64-bit.
No issues.

Request for which repo?

2020-12-07 21:43:38

espeak-ng
https://github.com/espeak-ng/espeak-ng/pull/844
the next release should contain speech player, if the devs choose to build it by default.
