This is for anyone who also plays this game and can't see the screen. I've watched Brandon do it. I've read about others do it. But I can't do it myself. Apparently, there's this accidental audio cue I'm supposed to listen out for. I think I know what it is because sometimes when I walk my character randomly breathes in or something, but I don't know what that's supposed to mean. I've figured out that when you first step into lava, there's a higher pitched footstep sound. That doesn't really help me though because you start getting burned almost right away. I can usually quickly move in the other direction but most of the time I take some damage, and this eventually adds up and kills me.
Most of the time, I can pass the first room simply by walking along the lava area to the right, eventually I will here a kind of wood crunching sound instead of the lava footstep. Can't do this in the next room though since you seem to be on an island of sorts with lava all around you.
I also can't exactly rely on sure footing because I've made it to Asphadel on 3 runs, but haven't gotten the boon on a single one of them. I've tried listening to blind people stream the game and explain how they pass the lava, but I can't seem to reproduce what they're doing.Someone, please, tell me textually how to pass this. I really want to finish a run in this game. Hell, I've even tried hacking out the lava by looking through some of the lua scripts and juggling around some numbers, but that hasn't worked. Frankly, I'm stumped.

Yeah, I having the same issue there. The first room is really easy to pass but next? Well, the fact the rooms are kinad like small circles surrounded with lava and to get to the next clear place you need to dash a bit makes this thing really hard. I am wondering how people can do that really.

Yeah there must be some way. Brandon, for example, has managed like 8 game victories, and he must have passed through Asphadel on all these occasions. That doesn't even include all the times he passed Asphadel but died later. Whatever he's doing must be reliable enough.

I haven't yet even progressed to the laver section, I m always losing before that.

I haven't figred out the best way to fight enemys, how to dodge and target for example. Is the dash that usefull for us actually?

The dash is the key to pretty much everything in this game honestly. with asphodel the rooms are islands with lava in between them. Unfortunately the only way to really viably get past it is to grind with the mirror of night until you can withstand landing in lava a few times per level (with god mode on this is fine at 80% damage reduction). Unfortunately I think the only way people are getting past this is with a mod that extends the mirror of night's powers https://www.nexusmods.com/hades/mods/41

Regarding targeting, the game will snap to the closest target. The sword is very hard to use though, I recommend using literally any other weapon first until you get a feel for ranges. Pretty much every enemy's attack has a startup sound so you can dash away from or past them depending on what you want at the right time.

@4 as #5 said, the blade is pretty crap. I've heard the spear is very good once you unlock it, especially with the right aspect which teleports you to the enemies you throw the spear at, so you can kill it with melee attacks. Right now, the shield is what works best for me. You can throw it, and if you have aim assist on, it'll try to fly to the nearest enemy and hit it. Plus, if you're near an enemy, you can always bullrush it. The cool thing about this is that when you're charging up, the shield blocks a lot of attacks. Though I usually just end up throwing the shield around like mad trying to clear out the room as fast as possible.

is doable for sure. I've managed to beat the game tree days ago, with the mirror extender mod, but is doable. A tip. if you are in the asfadel, when you clear te room, dash rapidly to the door sound. That's is what Brandon do on he's runs and worked for me

Sorry for my english

Hi.

So, you are saying that I should listen out for the enemys attack sound, dash out of the way and then dash twards the enemy and attak it? I have to figure out the attack sounds though, that'll be fun.

At Connor how do you actually enable auto aim? If you use the shield, i suppose that throwing the shield into a certain direction is the special attack, right?

@8 aim assist should be the first option in the controls menu. You should be able to find it using OCR, but there's unfortunately no way to know if it's currently on or off. Though when you toggle it, it plays a weird woosh sound, and that sound changes depending on whether you've just turned it on or off. I think when you turn it on, the woosh sound is higher. As for the weapons, yes, the shield throw is the shield's special attack. And if you have aim assist on, you should be able to hit enemies a lot more reliably. This also goes for the bow and spear.

If you want to test if aim assist is on, go to the courtyard and equip the bow. Face Skelly, if aim assist is off your arrow will go nowhere near him. it's the very first option in the controls menu I believe.

Also an important thing about lava. The damage lava does to you builds up over time (starting at 1 damage per tick and increasing). Dashing resets the damage amount back to 1, so dash a lot.

Well yeah, I guess aiming will be hole different issue. I can't hear if the enemys are in front or behind me. I can certainly hear if the y are to the left or right, does it help if I push the stick in the directioon of the monster and shoot? Have to try that out with skelly I guess.

Ok, I really need some tips on dodging atacks. Hitting isn't really a problem, it sorta works 80 percent of the time, but I mostly can't even progress past the third room or so before I die already. I never have an idea on where to dodge when an enemy attacks. I guess I could dodge anywhere, but how do I know if there is a wall or anything in my way that prevents me from dodging? I don't get how you guys are beating this game.

Greetings Moritz.

Usually the rooms are laid out so that they're wider than they are high, so you can usually dodge left and right with little issue. You'll know if you're dodging at a wall or something because you can hear the enemies not panning as you move away. Also dodging past the enemies is an option, that way you know where open space is.

2020-11-10 00:09:54

Guh, Ok, I will try that. I do think god mode is on, at leat as far as I can tell. Do you generally dodge the hole time or only when the enmy is about to attack?

Just dodge whenever you think they could be. Generally it depends on the weapon you're using though. For the bow and (spoilery 6th weapon) you can stay ranged so you can just dash away from enemy groups a lot and spam shots. For the other 4 it'll depend on how aggressive you want to play it.

Hi.

Ok, here is a little demo of me playing the game, it pritty much showcases which problems I currently have with the game, hope you guys can help out a little possibly.

@Simba figuring out how god mode is on can be done by either activating Lion or quickly using OCR when you die. It should say something about god mode stat increase or something. It usually comes out very garbled, probably because of the death animations, but you should see something like that. If you don't, god mode isn't on.

@simba are you hitting the vague direction of the enemy before you start holding the charged shot? A lot of the times I heard the bow firing to the right instead of to the left at enemies and vice versa. I'm not sure why a lot of the time your bow is just firing completely the wrong way, it looks like you have aim assist on. I'd check to make sure though.

2020-11-10 21:48:35

Hi.

Hmm, I might sometimes miss turning into the right direction of the enemy, I often press the charged shot to quicly and therefor might miss the shots, I think coordination is still missing.

I think auto aim is on, at least when I am in the court yard and shoot, I mostly am able to hit skelly, so I suppose it's activated.

2020-11-10 22:36:30

Is the sound that god mode is atactivated that sliding sound when you click on it or that little chime? For auto aim it was that extra chime that it's activated, how with god mode?

i also unlocked a new weapon. I don't know what it is, but it is awesome. I can basically constantly attack enemys till they are down. The special seams to be some kind of throw, and retrieval when you hit y again. Any ideas?

greetings Moritz.

Hail the unholy church of Satan, go share it's greatness.

2020-11-10 22:46:15

yea. is the shield. and yea, god mode is activated when you press the option and you ear the chimes

Sorry for my english

2020-11-10 23:01:15

Na that can't be the shield, I have the shield for quite some time now and unlike Aegis, you have to retrackt that weapon manually.
Sounds like some sort of spear or something in that order to me.

Greetings Moritz.

Hail the unholy church of Satan, go share it's greatness.

2020-11-10 23:47:52

You're right, it's Varatha the Eternal spear. God mode activation is the chime I believe, though if you OCR the loada game screen you should see god mode somewhere at the bottom.

For the spear, it has a 3 hit combo (hit attack 3 times quickly), if you hold attack and release there's a charged spin attack I think that clears out crowds (has 2 levels of charge past the first one), hitting special throws the spear, hitting either attack or special when you aren't holding it returns it to you. The spear can damage enemies on the way back to you.

2020-11-10 23:54:07

Ah, thought so smile. but boy, I think i found my weapon in the game, I love that thing right now, it basically does everything I need and is dang awesome.

Well, I guess I'll stick to that thinggy for a while now.

Ah crap, I almost had the first stage beat, but Megura killed me in the end. I lastedd about 2 minutes in that fight, don't know though if that was to god mode or my better dashing. I really love that spear, it's the best weapon for me currently.
