I don't understand why I am unable to receive money from a friend in US.
I am not in US, is that the reason, everything else, my bank account, my debit card, everything else seems to be linked fine with Paypal.

Do you or your friend get any kind of error text or page when trying? If so I'd look up
that text and Paypal probably has a knowledge base article on it.

As far as i know, some countries has restrictions for incoming payments on paypal due to lack of finding common ground with the local banks. Mongolia is one of those countries which gave me a lot of headache. Well in some sense it is still troublesome.

Sounds like a bank restriction then, unless you were only trying to transfer it to your Paypal balance and not your bank account. Have you looked up the error yet?

I think I figured it out.
Paypal in my country only allows to make payments to a seller, not to a person. They recommend to find another way to send money to friends. How nice of them.

In that case try Venmo. There are other cash apps around which aren't so centered on the US and Canada, and chances are if you can use it your friend can too, them being in the US and all. If all else fails you can initiate a wire transfer.
