So, my NVDA has taken to read everything I have typed after I press enter to create a new line at the bottom of the text. For example,
I just make a new line and it started to read everything beforehand.
Any ideas as to how to turn this off?
Update: This seems to happen only on Brave (a spinoff of Chrome).

hi
try NVDA+3?

2020-05-19 22:39:09

oh i have a worst issue that only happens with nvda.
i can't click links and anything on a webpage with the tab key and then press enter, i have to use arrows, and, it is very very annoying, but i can click with tab in apps though

@mikes0916, Try NVDA+8.

If you for whatever reason wish to contact me, the best way to do so is through Discord (@Minionslayer0). You'll get the quickest response times, and by extension, a higher priority. I also sometimes post my thoughts (for the better or worse) over on Mastodon at @Minionslayer.

So...
No luck.
NVDA + 3 just toggled speak words to on and consequently off, as I don't want things to be announced as I'm typing unless I intentionally go over my post.
Anymore ideas?

Ok, this is definitely some Chromium issue, since I have been experiencing this for a few weeks in Google chrome as well. Maybe try an older version of Brave and see if it still happens so we can know if it's an issue introduced in NVDA itself? I'll probably try an older Chrome version to see what results I get.

Can also confirm. I keep intending to open an issue but then never get around to it because Chrome isn't my primary browser, but someone should.

For what it's worth, when I post, I just write my text in notepad and paste into the forum form fields. It's getting tricky to track my output if I type directly into the post/reply field.

@8, I'll probably do that from now on and then use the forum's helpful spellcheck when I'm done. Glad to know that it's not an issue on my end, though, I was getting really concerned. When I break things they typically do so in most glorious fashion.

@9, This problem has been happening to me too. Along with it, After pressing enter when I am pressing the down-aero key, it speaks one of the letters/words in the line I just wrote instead of speaking blank which it earlier used to. I too use chrome browser. Does it happen in any other browser too?

@vaibhavbhandari, Same behaviour in Firefox over here.

that fixed my nvda issue @4, thanks.

i'm having every, issue, stated here.
Like, on this new line, it just has the capital i being read from my top line of this post read when i hit down arow.

@TheTrueSwampGamer, I'm tempted to say some of it lies in how the forum was designed as no other websites I've tried at all have this issue.

Hi.

I just instaled brave to see what happens and can confirm that the repeating line thing happens for me too

Also; if you press enter, the screen reader will repeat the same line over and over.

Nope; that's wrong, it reads from the top. I'm going to uninstal brave now and go back to firefox, if you're using this browser every day; report this behaviour.

Oh and the thing where it reads the first letter of the first word when at the end of the post happens to me too if I press enter and the down arrow.

I'm gone for real :)

no, it happens to me on chrome also

Hi.

@rory-games, that's because brave is an offshoot of chrome.

I'm gone for real :)

yeah,
this issue, I've been having it since quite a bit of time. I just make sure that i don't have to review my text in the browser's edit-box, also, I can confirm that it happens for Chromion based Microsoft Ege too. Haven't tried the old edge yet. And not only this websight, it happens with google-forms and other edit-boxes, though be it of specific type. My guess is that it happens with multi-line edit-boxes on Chromion based browzers.

This is a Chromium-anything issue in multi-line edit fields.

However, solved in Chrome 83, apparently. There was an issue on this here:

https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda/issues/11098

I just updated to 83, and it seems to work now.

It's the worse problem I've ever seen. Really weird. It also happen in ThunderBird, Not just on the browser.
