Hey,
type the -offline switch at the end of your shortcut definition (alt enter on the shortcut).
To go to the steam menu bar, rout the NVDA cursor to the top. You’ll hear it says steam, view, friends, games, and help.
To open one of these menus press NVDA numpad devide to move the mouse to the review cursor, then press numpad devide to do a left mouse click.
You’ll have many options when you open up the menu, to click it position the review cursor to the option you want to click, like offline mode in the steam menu bar, then press NVDA and numpad divide then do a left click to activate it.
@3, its interesting. Steam doesnt read for me with NVDA since 2017 or so.
@4, have you set the no-dwrite command on steam? if you haven't set it up you have to press alt enter at the steam desktop shortcut and type -no-dwrite after the target path. optionally, you can make steam automatically log-in when you run steam, however it won't work if steam is set to automatically start alongside windows.
If you run Steam and it can't establish a connection to their servers, you will get a dialog letting you retry or run in offline mode. If you run Steam with the no-dwrite switch, this dialog should read, at least it did a few years ago when I had to do it.
You could also upgrade to the Steam beta where the game library is fully accessible.
@jack, the latest steam version added the accessible library from the beta version. If you haven’t updated steam it will automatically do so when steam is launched.
@Hanif: Thanks for the heads up. Hard to tell when you're already in beta mode and it autoupdates. Glad to see that the library has finally been implemented in a production build.
Could someone tell me how to get to the menus with NVDA in the laptop keyboard layout? I always use jaws and am not really experienced in using NVDA. I would need that menu too, to actually try and make my external harddrive the default setup location.
just open the game you want to play and steam will launch. If you here a different sound when steam is launched then repeet the steps.
