A good rule of thumb is, if you want your point to actually be heard, don't make your self look like a bigger problem than the one your pointing out. A flaw of human psychology sure, but that's reality for you, so if you think your input is useful, learn how to communicate it without obscuring it's value with your attitude.
Is there a way to mute an account but still allow them to upvote/downvote? Maybe that should be done in the future to keep people from posting for a little bit when it's a serious situation that's worth more than just a regular warning and you want to talk it over for a bit, with the caveat that if a decision hasn't been reached in X amount of time it will be unfrozen.
I mean if your having to deal with new stuff they've done in the meantime while your thinking of previous stuff, or they have the ability to delete the posts they've made that your trying to moderate so others can't give input on them easily... Well it could cause a problem. Then again maybe they'd just end up tipping them selves into a ban anyway and then the problem would resolve it's self?
Thing is, the mods are handycapped allot of the time by the lack of tools this site has to offer I think, it's out of date infrastructure and lacks allot of the features that moderators on other sites find important. With Richard and Sander out of the picture for all but emergencies, we may as well be screaming into the wind when it comes to suggestions about new site features most times.
