There are desktop apps for Whatsapp but they're all uwp and actually kind of a shitshow as far as accessibility is concerned, I know the mac app asked to scan a qr code for whatever reason, and it was unclear as to where it was.

For me, Twitter was always a good way, to keep me updated about all my interests. I use it more to read articles, than to actually tweet. With Twitteriffic on my phone and TWBlue on my computer, it was always the most comfortable and easiest way to see stuff. But if Twitter really goes through with that, I will just delete my account, if that is possible.
And after that, I guess, it's time to go back to RSS-Feets again...

Mastodon is actually a really nice thing: I don't know if it will replace Twitter, but it definitely would have a shot in our community if blind Twitter clients pick this up.

Well, potentially add Chicken Nugget to the list of open sourced twitter clients. Q said he'd release one more final version then retire the project, possibly open sourcing it. That would be a perfect opportunity to pick up Mastodon.

1) what'sapp on the computer/Mac side, requires the QR code to be scanned from your phone. needless to say, I failed doing it, now that I think about it, my camera on the laptop probs doesn't work. this does mean, that one way or another, one will need to have a phone number with whatsapp in the first place. fortunately for us, it can be done without a phone, and without exposing our real number. we will need either an android or iPhone, or if we don't have one, an android tablet. if we use the first option, we go get whatsapp from the play/app store. if we have the latter, we must manually install the app, otherwise whatsapp will not install on our tablet.
now that this is done, it's time to get text now, an app that gives us free phone numbers from the US/Canada, with unlimited calls and texts. they do, however, expire after 2 weeks. at any rate, we can register with it. now we go on whatsapp, type in our new number, get them to call us, and whatsapp is now registered without touching your real details. do note, however, I'm not sure how long this will work for, whether it will be patched, but I did it around 4 or so times, yet to fail on me. I currently have a 760 area code on whatsapp, yet my real real number is a +44 british number.
2) not sure about others, but chicken nugget lags like fuck. according to the developer itself, a 3110 i3, with 4 gigs of RAM, is a low end system for chicken nugget. so, no chicken nugget for me, apparently.
