Hi all.
Would you like to help translating Undead Assault into your language? Now, you have the chance.
Why translating the game into as many languages as possible?
There are many people around the world who don’t speak english, or don’t speak the language very well. there are not many audio games, which has been translated into a lot of languages. if they are, the translations are not officially, which means you can’t download the game from the official website in other languages than english, and fully enjoy them if you don’t speak english.
We will try to change that in the Undead Assault project. We wanna make the game available and enjoyable for as many people as possible no matter what language they speak, and we will brake down the very known language barriers, which often limites a lot of people to enjoy games, if they don’t speak english.
So therefore, we are sharing the template file to the public, hoping that people wanna help us translate the game into as many languages as possible.
What you need.
1: You need a program called PO Edit. You can download it from the following link:
Download the latest version of PO Edit for Windows
2: You need an Dropbox account, and you need to be invited into the official translation folder.
To make everything much more simpel, everything you need is in the Dropbox folder. Instructions, the required files etc.
Please post your mail address here in the topic, and you'll be invited as soon as possible. Please note that only one translator for each language is required, so therefore, please write what language you wanna translate when you post your mail address to be invited. You can read more on why I have made this rule in the rules section.
The rules
Here are some very strait forward rules for the translation folder. The rules should be easy to follow and understand. If there is something regarding the rules you don’t understand, then please contact me for clarifications.
1: Never change, delete or update things which others have worked on without their permission to do so. If you do that, you’ll be kicked out of the folder without any warning.
2: Try to follow the already written instructions on how to update the translation files. If you choose not to follow those instructions, then you are responsible for making the translation at 100% out from the newest template file. If you don’t follow the instructions, you are also responsible to keep all the strings intact, and if you mess this up, Manuel and I have the right to not include the updated translation into the game, simply because it will not work if things are messed up.
3: When updating the translation, then please try your best to keep the filenames intact, which will make it easier for us all to see when the translation has been updated.
4: This is of course okay to work together with more people on the same language. Only one person is allowed to be registered to this folder for each language. This rule is to avoid people working on multiple versions of translation in the same language, without working together. It is only me, SLJ who owns this folder who invites people into the folder. If you invite any people, you’ll both be kicked out of the folder, and you’ll be out of the translation team.
Language channels.
In Undead Assault, there are multiple language channels, used for text chatting between the players. That means people who don’t speak english, or people who want to talk to people in other languages can do so, of course on the right channel which fits to the language.
Here is an example on how to change the language channel:
1: Open up the chat console by pressing the slash key.
2: Type in an extra slash sign, then type for example lang spanish to switch to the spanish chat, and then press enter. It looks like this: /lang spanish.
Please note, very important: When using different keyboard layouts, the slash sign is written differently depending on what keyboard you are using. This can lead into a lot of confusion for people who don’t know the english keyboard layout. Therefore, I hope you’ll help me expand the following list in the different languages on how to open up the chat console, type in the slash sign on the keyboard layout for the specific language and switch from the english channel to the other language. If we get this translated, we can send this small guide to people in their own language who are trying to switch to an other chat language, but don’t understand what we are saying because they don’t speak english.
Here is an example from the danish keyboard layout to demonstrate how important this is to know how it works on the keyboard layout you are using:
1: Open up the chat console by pressing the dash key to the left of the right shift key.
2: Press shift 7 to write an extra slash sign, and then type lang english and then press enter.
Here is the text in english, ready to be edited and translated into your language and to your keyboard layout:
How to switch to the english chat using the english keyboard layout:
1: Open up the chat console by pressing the slash key, the key to the left of the right shift key.
2: Type an extra slash and then type lang english and then press enter.
Please post your translation or send it to me privately so I can include this below.
If you have any questions, issues or comments, then feel free to either post in this topic, or contact me privately. I speak english and danish.
