Why would someone do that, also unless the phone is root, its hard to get a virus on it.

Hate to say it (kidding) but Ironcross has a point. The only true and tried method of getting a virus on a phone is through Bluetooth low energy (BLE). Unfortunately an attacker has to be physically close to you (within 10 meters or so) for that to work. And visiting random sites can't give your phone viruses. Not on Android. Possibly on iOS but not Android.

That is actually not true. What about apps getting administrative access to the device and doing whatever they want? Yes, you have to give them that access yourself, but you have to visit a website yourself too, download an app too and install it, so it does not make a difference. The only thing a virus can do with root which it cannot without it is mess up your system files, make your phone not be able to boot, remove default system apps and so on. Other than that, it can perfectly fine send random text messages, uninstall and install apps, perform a factory reset and many other things.

It is slow, very, very slow, I get new apps without knowing it, I see them on the home screen, some with weird caracters, so, I am afraid to open them, it heats like crazy when you unlock it and for example, check a message.

@28, your message assumes that someone will fall for that. The phone will give people plenty of warnings -- if not outright prevent them from installing it -- from non-authorized google play sources without the user of the phone explicitly allowing the installation.

Android gives you so many warnings if you go ahead anyway, its your own fault since you're assuming the risk / responsibility.

Well, in my opinion it is your fault on any OS. If you leave UAC on Windows enabled, then you will be able to allow and block programs on Windows too. Plus, so many warnings assume we are only talking about this tipe of malware I mentioned here. As long as you enable installing apps outside of playstore and there are several legit good reasons for doing that, this situation is entirely possible. One thing which is true though, as long as you don't have root a reformat will indeed get rid of everything. Anyways, sorry for going OT but just wanted to clarify this with viruses.

Well, you just made me thinking and I talked with her.
She said she is granting all the permisions because she thinks they are inofensive.
Sure, I can reformat but, what about my family, classmates pictures?
I think I have over 2000 pictures on there and they are good memories.
I do not have a backup solution at the moment because I can not get talkback to work on it, not even voice assistant.
And Shotgunshel, I gave it to her because of these things and slow updates from Samsung, so, I got myself a Nokia 3.
Sorry to go offtopik, but I was not sure if I should start a topik to discuss this thing, so, let me know if you want to continue this discussion, it seems interesting, atleast for me.

This nokia is my own, but I do not have alot of my own money, so, I can not aford a better one.
My mother gave me this s7 a year and some months ago and she said, this is yours, but please let her stay on facebook and talk on whatsapp.
I was like, ok, but only facebook and whatsapp, but she openned links on facebook, discovered Chrome and she started to look for thinks, not with a bad intention, but yeah.

They're choosing not to evolve from the basic IRS/Tech/Bitcoin scam, while we're continuously evolving. Now, it's time to give them something neither you nor they will expect.
