I also like the replies and telling us what you're up to, just make it very clear when there is an update for us to get.
just finished writing the first version of the 9th quest. A small area for this quest has also been completed. I think i will mainly focus me on the add-on again, so the next update can be tested and published as soon as possible.
extended the games rooms out to 103. I am almost done with building the land in front of the castle itself. Then i have to build and design the castle. Creating quests and the like.
It was a few days quiet around me regarding this project, this is true, cause i was actively building the castle of the castlevania add-on. Right now, the ground floor and the first floor are done, and i am half way done with the second floor, wich for now will be the top floor.
I also added an entrance to the basement in the castle, wich still has to be build, but for release it will be two depts. The first one, and the second one.
I have 8 quests designed for the castlevania add-on for release, but these aren't coded in yet. But the important part is, that they are designed. There will be a few easter eggs around in the area, wich will grand you bonusses, or an unlucky happening. these can be accessed each season, while others can be accessed each year.
So you'll get one area, but wich is devided in three sub area's.
This is a rough plan, i know it, but i am a bit in a hurry, and i want to inform you on what to expect. But one more thing, expect updates, so if you have purchased the add-on, it does not mean the add-on won't get updates anymore.
gotta dash, have to donate the manic monday gift on vandettacrime, then i am going to run.
I have some other suggestions, if not already in the game:
Some enemie types could attack in Groups or attack in both ways, means in Groups as well as solo.
Another Thing could be traps you could get into or build against enemies.
Third idea would be puzzles and such, opstacles to overcome and such. For example, activate or deactivate some mechanisms to open certain objects or such, a bit like in tomb raider, Indianer Jones and such.
Thanks for your suggestions, with the enemies in groups i can find a solution at some point, cause you only can fight against a single opponent, but i can create multiple instances from an enemy, for example, an undead creature in castlevania, can attack on it's own, lets say a zombie, but this enemy can also be a group of two or 5 zombies. You still will fight a single fight, but this group of 5 zombies, will have more hitpoints, then the group of 2 or the single zombie. I don't think this idea will make it in the next update, but certainly something to work on
The mechanics you mentioned can be done as well when we build certain area's or upgrade existing ones. Is noted down as well.
The third suggestion, the traps, i am not completely sure yet on how to or if we are going to include it, this depents on how the game evolves. Have made a note none the less.
When we release beta 3 at some point, this depents on when the add-on is ready, corrected, tested etc and when my Insurance agrees on allowing me to register the name nonvisiongames, so money can be legally accepted, you will find that castlevania uses a slightly different quest system. You get a quest, and you have to complete certain parts. We are currently experimenting with this system, and castlevania will get the first of these new quests. But don't panic, when the tests turn out to be acceptable, we also will start building new quests for the free game as well. But these quests for the free game have to wait till beta 4. But just wanted to let you know, that however castlevania uses a new, or probably a few new systems, we don't want to lay the priority on the add-ons, but on the game in complete form.
But i can tell, that the building of the add-on is almost done, and then we have to code in certain other systems. In short, it is picking up speed. But release mostly depents on my insurance and their speed. And in my experience these companies aren't that fast ...
With help from koma i discovered a very nasty bug in the combat with bosses in the package currently up for download. This bug was when the boss got the first oppertunity to attack, and you blocked to late, nothing happened at all, and the only option you had left was fleeing. This (hopefully) will be fixed in the next update.
Regarding the castlevania add-on. 5 of the 8 quests wich i had designed for initial release is coded in, but not tested extensively yet. And probably some new rooms should be build, to give that final point of detail
man, it is very hot in the nl right now, after a few days of coding very, very slow, quest 6 is done. still two to go, and then it can get tested. I really hope my insurance won't take to much time *sighs*.

Since we can't release demo content when it comes down to castlevania, when we release it, i will give a presentation via youtube. So you'll get a better understanding on what castlevania will contain in terms of the world, npc's, i probably will show a quest, an easter egg etc, without spoiling the story for this game

The build of the add-on is finished. Right now koma is going to check the grammer for the complete game. An estimated timeframe, we can't give.
After this, my insurance only still has to agree on registering the company name so we won't get issues with the law.

The next beta release is morely focussed on the introduction of the castlevania area. This area is a premium area and will be purchasable via our website when we release it. The price is still something we have to discuss in the team and with the beta testers when they have tested it. But it will contain the castlevania area, 9 new quests, 7 obtainable by the lord and 2 mob quests. New harvestables, two new recipes, right now two easter eggs wich can be accessed once per year. A small event during a certain season. 3 new skills wich only can be learned there. So we hope enough to keep someone busy for some time
as a sidenote: The free parts of the game, also got fixes and upgrades, so don't worrie

The navigation system is something wich is newly designed the moment we released rough beta 2? I am not sure when this system got introduced. It is based on the system used in muds, but then in menu's.
I really hope it will get familiar with some time.

it is a little weird at times having directions and actions in the same menu but you get used to it. But some stuff is awkward at the beginning but like most things you learn how to do it in less time than you'd think.
however, the system can be like in other games is very cool, this is ok, but maibe been greater.
Any News regarding the game?
The code is currently with koma, she is checking the grammer of the game, so the game will be even more representative. After this our beta group has to test the stuff, so when release arrives, it will be with the minimal amount of bugs. The sad thing however, is that i also have to deal with some things insurance related. But i won't hold up the release more then is required, we want to publish the game as soon as possible as well. But there are things wich should be done first.
A quick announcement regarding the game. Our beta testers just received a link and my insurances approved my plans with the game, so when the beta group is done testing, the game will be published and a youtube video will be made
As a little sidenote, due to that koma is very busy atm, we decided to release the grammer fixes as a later patch.
So the project certainly is not dead.

great to hear I was wondering what was going on with the game lately, what's the status of the Castlevania thing?
The first version of castlevania is ready and will contain a large area, devided in three sub areas. 9 new quests, a few easter eggs, wich can be accessed each game year, a few extra harvestables, two new recipes, three new enemies, the possibility wich can get you three new abilities which you can use in battle, this are abilities normally used by paladins. It will contain a general store which purchases almost everything which can't be sold elsewhere, contain the stables you can help the stablehand to capture bewildered horses during a certain season and we have more planned for the future. Right now it doesn't have random events yet, but we are planning on to include these in an update.
Also, the audiogames user darkwolf also had joined the team, and will do translations into other languages, and also is willing to write new quests for castlevania as well, she has at least 7 other quests in mind, and will also add to the free world as well.
But we promise, that this first release of the castlevania add-on, will get updates and additions.
Don't blow the horns of triumf yet, cause we are still working on the update, but i am here to give you a little status report.
The beta group is testing the current build since friday now, and several bugs were discovered by them and others by us. These bugs are fixed atm, so don't panic
Darkwolf is currently fixing grammer issues and rewrite several sentinces and upgraded other ones, and tbh, i love on what she has written, it gives just that little touch of extra detail.
But we are slowly squashing out all the bugs, so the publication will be without much trouble.
a couple ideas for later zones, not going to provide names just some ideas.
1. a city that is actually a crooked or corrupt city ruled by criminals or corrupt guards who are more like bandits
2. an icy Viking realm
3 a middle-east-sinpired desert land
4. an east-Asian inspired land with monasteries, ninjas, and samurai and such
5. a jungle
6. a ruined city
7. a giant world
8. a volcano
9. an underwater world
10. a huge mine
11. a big cavern complex
12. a realm more inhabited by fey creatures
13. a world inhabited by evil creatures as sort of an underworld
14. a classical-Greco-Roman myth world with things like ancient heroes, greek gods, centuars, minotuars, and satyrs.
15. a prehistoric world with dinosuars and such
16. a world where you have to defend good monsters against bad humans.
17. a world that is full of horror-style monsters
18. a meteor crash site.
19. a realm on high mountains or in the clouds.
just thought of some more areas that would be fun to visit.
