I wouldn't use the change volume command unless you know what you need, for example, just a little louder or quieter. As was said, you can clip, but if you want to be professional, that is not a good thing. Clipping is distortion. a little of it isn't too bad, especially if you turn it down afterwards and put it in with other sounds, like maybe in a game. If it adds up too much, it can be noticed. I normally record at a low level and turn it up afterwards, sometimes you can have more background noise this way but it shouldn't be too much. Or you can use the maximize volume to keep from clipping but you will have a lower volume level.

Make more of less, that way you won't make less of more!
