@150, i forgot to mention this, in the castle courtyard section, when you hear a low pitch sound for the guards, it means they are not looking at you. A higher pitch sound for guards means they are looking at you and you will get caught. The guards also make a kind of metal clanging sound when they are far away, like the iron boots sound like when you walk.p

will this work for any of the other Zelda games, or any of the older ones?

@152,

Considering that this is work exclusively on the PC port of one particular game, I highly doubt it will work for any of the others. It's possible some of the ideas will work for other games but not without a lot of effort.

2023-12-13 03:48:21

@152, i believe maybe the system may work for mm too.

2023-12-13 06:43:26

Yeah I could see this working for MM if they figured out how to port it in the same way, though you'd probably still need to adjust certain things.
Re: Guards looking in your direction vs not, that's really cool there's a sound for that. Are they planning to release any public betas at any point? Or just keep it closed until they're finished.

2023-12-13 09:21:01

@155, yeah, it would probably need some adjustments for mm. A pc port is in development, but it will take some time.
As for this, i have no idea if they will publish anything public. For now, it is just me who gets to test the features since it is still under development.

Appreciate the update. Also, please thank them for their continued work.

Hello
I love Ocarina of time, it has been my favorite video game since I was a child. I have an issue with the PC Port. I cannot seem to enable accessibility mode, I enabled the tts with no issue. How do I enable the other sounds to tell me things like walls, doors, chests, you name it! Also, I noticed that NVDA does not read the menu bar correctly, how to fix that?

It's not fully implemented and not official as far as I know.

Hello
Is there a way to find out which direction you are facing? I know when you pause the game and press f, g, and t you get your magic meter, how many rupees you have, and your health respectively. If there is any way of finding this out please let me know.

How is this project progressing?
Also, can anyone give me a step-by-step guide on how to start playing and installing?

Unless I missed a major announcement, the project is nowhere near in a playable state. No step-by-step guide exists yet because no one outside of the development team has played.

Hello
Could anyone walk me through how to silence the music in the menu in ship of harkinian? Better yet, exactly how am I supposed to get the sword without the ability to see? I do not know what direction I am facing. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

You might as well not play, because the game is not in a playable State for the blind yet LOL

@164, you can find out which direction youa re facing by the use of a chime sound you hear whenever you turn Link aorund. You have like a sound compass which uses different pitch depending on where you are facing. You can get the additional accessibility sounds in a custom build which is not released publically yet. I could give the link to the build.
@165, that is not true. I am a blind gamer and i have been able to get to the second dungeon in the game with little issues. There are a lot of accessibility sounds which helps me a lot.
Also, the project is still going on, but development is still going slow. So no progress update yet.

@computer:
I mean if you're allowed to post it I'd be curious to see what new sounds have been added, I think I've figured out at least some of the basics, it's still difficult to know where you are contextually though. I'm certainly not expecting perfection though considering it's really still an alpha experience.

2024-03-26 14:25:15

@167, No new sounds have been added yet. I know they started working on a audio glossery for the game, but it hasn't been complete yet. It tends to crash the game so far. Where are you currently? I could try to explain things to you if you want. I use discord a lot.

2024-03-26 17:38:55

Honestly I've hardly started, I've been a little busy with other things. I'm right at the start where I have to find my sword. After today though I should have a bunch of time to play round with it so will definitely go through this over discord. User is unexplained_entity
