I heard the google nest has some sort of interactive touch display? Dooes it have a screen reader?

Power is not the responsibility of freedom, but it is actually the responsibility of being responsible, it's self, because someone who is irresponsible is enslaved by their own weaknesses.

yes, it does have a screen reader, but you can only enable it once you've finished setup which requires you to tap a finish button on the screen itself, which I believe is in the lower right quadrant of the screen, if I remember correctly.
Once you tap finish, in the google home app you can enable the screen reader and use the display with it. But until you do, no screen reader for you.

Personally I'm more concerned about them being so easily hackable. I know, most people don't change their default passwords, but if the owners aren't going to do it themselves then clearly Google needs to force them to do so.

Regarding the screenreader: I've heard you can set upp the net hub via the app which is accessible, and don't use the touch screen at all. in this way, you should be able to set it up all on your own and enable the screenreader without sighted help.
I haven't got a nest hub yet so I haven't tried that, but I'll get one in the near future.

My girlfriend will be sending me one pretty soon, I’ll let you know when it gets here if someone else doesn’t beat me to it.

Yeah, it does, but it uses Chrome Vox, so, gross. Chrome Vox truly isn't bad, unless you try to run it with a touch screen. Then, it fails. Swipes are unreliable, the focus is jumpy, and yeah no, don't.

Hi.
I've just got my Google Nest Hub. Cromevox could have been better, but it's better than nothing.
YOu are right. Seriously, Google have fucked up regarding to accessibility. After you have set up the device from your phone, you need to press the OK icon on the touch screen to continue. So I started to press randomly on the screen until something happened, and I was lucky to hit the OK button.
What a disappointment. I thought Google could do that better. I thought Google made their products accessible, and did care about accessibility. But, no.
Even worse: Looking at their support page, it only explains how to activate the screenreader. So I think they broke it in an update.
Yet an other reason for I stick to Apple products as my primary devices. That might change, if Google starts to take accessibility seriously, in all their products.

Best regards SLJ.
