i got a set of dubble bace peddles a fue weeks ago. there the best set i've ever had. but when i push my foot doun on the peddle it hits the drum ither once or twice. how can i get better control over how many times the beater goes forward?

Based on my drumming experience, the springs on the sides can cause that to happen if they're not tight enough for you. That's what happened to me once. Play with the tightness of those to see if that gives you a better sound.

as for your technique!
this is very important!
when your just learning, u need to start by placing your heels on the floor, and using just your ankles to push the peddals.
otherwise your using your leg muscles to drive into it.
the ankle movement gives it a better crisper sound.
start off slow, get a steady pace, and keep pushing yourself, get to a speed wich is  cumfterable and stick at it until that is easy, build up then faster and faster to master the art of double base rolling!
