This is too awesome for me to explain it, so I'll let this Reddit thread do it for me.
The year is 2064, and the world has been reforged in the fires of magic, technology, and greed. Orks, Trolls, Elves, and other races straight out of fantasy roam the streets, along with new and unfamiliar mutations inflicted on the populace in a traumatic event known as the SURGE. Cybernetic implants and arcane workings grant incredible power to those who can afford to wield them, and information– the most valuable resource in 2064– is stolen and traded by expert hackers with homemade VR rigs. Dominating this landscape are the mega-corporations, wielding nigh-limitless political clout and conducting shadow wars while an unsuspecting populace happily consumes their products. Do you have what it takes to survive in the cutthroat Sprawl?

Hoi, chummers!
After four years of development, the Community Edition of Awakened Worlds is finally opening its doors to the public, and it's the perfect time to get in on the ground floor. this sounds cool. someone should make a sp for it

I am a divine being. I can be called a primordial deity, but that might be pushing it, a smidge. I am the only one of my kind to have ten tails, with others having nine. I don't mean to sound arrogant, but I have ascended my own race.

This sounds neat. I couldn't get into the original, but I might give this a shot!

Prier practice and preparation prevents piss poor performance!

Sounds interesting.

Hey, Lucien here, I'm the owner of this game. I'm very interested in feedback from players using assistive tech, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you see somewhere it could be improved!

Hey,

This looks really cool from what I've seen thus far. As a fan of the RPG, though I've never actually got to play, I'm impressed with the stuff which seems to be implemented. Of course I chose a cyberdeck.

I'm curious, how complete is the rules system? The stats certainly look familiar, I'm just wondering how it translates into the game internals, out of curiosity.

tHanks for the commitment to accessibility. It's appreciated, especially from a new mud.

You may want to ask on the MUD's discord, or on the original reddit thread linked above.

So here's the thing.
I've been following this MUD for years now. I think it's interesting because I used to play on the original (as Tomi there too) back when Che was running the thing. Pretty cool. I even spoke to him about compiling it under Cygwin back when I was a teenager. Oh how fun. Then in 2016 I moved to Seattle and I was like, holy crappers, I'm living in the world of this MUD! I really was, the map layout is fairly exact to Seattle but with some changes as it is to be expected.
I'm a big fan. Recently I got the community edition to compile on a Raspberry pi. How fun. I like being a wizard of the world now. I can do anything. Lately I've been having fun making the elementals fight each other out of boredem. So fun!
I don't understand how the community edition was changed over the regular. I also see very little wizhelp documentation. Like the illusive reboot command. Reboot all works but what other parameters does it take? I may have to ask an actual God upon my death to ever find out. Poor documentation on building and creating your own things had lead me to abandon it for a while. I want to introduce weed as a good drug, not as a bad drug, for example. Making weed shops like it is in Seattle? Hell yes. That is something I think the original game makers just didn't think of would be a reality when they built it. So making it more in line with present and extending that concept to the future in a greater way would make this game more complete for me. Until then I lurk around and build source every once in awhile.

an opensource game?
wow.

I'm intwigued. It sounds like path-choosing is very much a thing in this MUD, which I like. Of course, I'm a good character usually, but maybe I'll download VIP Mud in between paper writings from Contract Law and give this one a whirl, unless someone has tried this with MushZ yet? I get the impression there's a way to do it, albeit there's some hoop-jumping. Be fun to have sound packs for something like this too. I like the idea of blending medieval fantasy elements with futuristic stuff too. We'll see what happens.

Hey everyone, appreciate you taking a look at the game! As you've probably noticed, I'm slow to reply on here; there's a lot to keep up with at the moment. I'll get more responsive as things quiet down after launch.

Good choice on the cyberdeck, the Matrix system is pretty fun to explore. The rules system is mostly complete, although there are some homebrew choices in there that were made before I took up maintainership of the game. I've already gotten some great feedback in-game on how to improve accessibility, including better map files and a brief toggle, so I'm looking forward to implementing those!

You're right, the changes unfortunately aren't summarized anywhere. You'd have to read the changelog channel in the Discord server to understand what all has changed, and there's a _lot_ of material in there; we're essentially trying to keep track of 1,780 commits which can each include multiple changes. It's an administrative nightmare!

Documentation is something we're working on. We've got a guide on how to build up on the GitHub page under the wiki heading, and we're happy to show you how it works and answer any questions, either in Discord or on the buildport. I've never actually used the reboot command myself; I always just use the copyover command, which restarts the game while keeping everyone connected.

Adding a new drug type is a complicated task. You can add non-functional drug items easily enough, but if you want them to have any effects, you'll have to dig into the drug code. If you search the code for 'novacoke' you'll find the drug code areas, and you can expand on those as you please.

I may make sp since I planned to do it in the original awakened anyway. How is it from those who tried? I need to get back to the game again seriously.

I hope it doesn't die again like the old one. I love it man. I just didn't get far into the thing back there.

Love it too, I made an account and I really must praise the people who develop this MUD for the so well explained tutorial, commands, skills, it seems easy enough to start and gradually get introduced to the game, so many varied elements are incorporated, RP is encouraged, what else is there to say?
It's just amazing and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
I think  I haven't found anything to my liking such as this MUD right here since Nuclear Legend

I choose to be happy

I'm trying to see what I've already coded in my old awakened soundpack. I ccan moddify it to fit this one. I'll have a very handful of time in my hand after I resign from my job anyway, so guess I'll go for it while waiting to move to America. Not a good time to move I know. But sudden life circumstances forces me out of Thailand.

Also, I will pray that your passage into the United States will be a journey swift and free of trouble. God bless.

Guys I have a bug. Any know how to solve it when you create a character, disconnect before you complete and can't get back to create it because there's someone (you) creating that character. You can't log in with it either. I need help man.

Last I heard, they were working on fixing it. You can create a different character, though.
