26, how long does it take before the game should load? I’ve left it there for a couple minutes and nothing seems to happen. No audio anyway.

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

@RTT entertainment is that happening with the game installer, or when you launch the game itself? Which games have you tried? Also, is your keyboard set to English or something else?

Hi. My keyboard is set to American English and this happens when I launch monkey business, alien outback, and ESP pinball extreme.

@RTT entertainment Can you try with something else, just to see if it works, maybe Crazy Party or Shooter? I wonder if I need to set the version for the games you have already, maybe something broke in wine 8.X.

Hi.

Tried running crazy party, and the exact same thing happened. I think it has something to do with wine 8.8.

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

2023-05-30 15:51:33

@RTT entertainment can you try using downgrade to install wine 8.7, and if that doesn't work, 7.7?

sudo downgrade wine

You can answer no on the part that asks to add the package to ignorepkg. If one of those works, let me know which one and I'll see about adding exceptions for the games that require an older version. If it's 8.7 that fixes it though, it may just be a bug in 8.8, so there may be an 8.9 release soon. In that case, it may be best to just wait for a few days and see if the new version works. The next three days will be quite busy for me, but if I get the chance, I'll do some testing on my end too.

I have the games working on Wine 8.8/8.9 so I'm not sure if it is WINE, from what we were going over on Discord, it's more than likely the lib32 things failing to install, we were going over the wiki page but ran into a problem with cutting out the check functionstol

You can avoid trying to comment out the check function by passing --nocheck to makepkg.

also, try to ocr the wine window that appears. I think the problem is that it wants to install mono or something like that, but for that it opens an inaccessible probably windows native window.

2023-06-01 16:54:10

You can usually tell by the window title if that's the case. If it says wine mono installer, press alt I and wait for it to go away. If you land on a window that just says wine, the mono installer is still there and you should focus it and press alt I. Then both windows will go away and AGM will continue.

Hi. So, I installed Linux mint on my laptop and the games works fine. However, exiting the game doesn’t get rid of the wine window. I lose all speech as soon as I exit the game. Can someone please help? Looking at the screen with Seeing AI say something about Errors, and not able to find certain things, couldn’t make sense of it.

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

@RTT entertainment that bug pops up from time to time in some wine versions. Is it all games, or just one or two in particular. if it's only a couple of them, then you will only need this work around for those, but if you happen to have a wine version that does this with everything, you'll need it for all of them until a new version of wine comes along.

To close the game, after saving your data, or whatever you need to do, run audiogame-manager -k and select the game from the list and press enter on it. The -k flag means to kill the current wine server. I know that's a bit inconvenient, but it's better than locking up the desktop lol.

Important for people using the testing branch of AGM, if you have STW or Christmas Chaos installed, the launcher and Tolk.dll have changed. Make sure to remove the old Tolk.dll from your cache:

rm -f ~/.cache/audiogame-manager/Tolk.dll

You can download the latest version manually, or reinstall those games. If you want to download and replace the existing, grab the new one from https://stormgames.wolfe.casa/downloads/Tolk.dll and replace the following files with the newly downloaded version:

~/.local/wine/survive-the-wild/drive_c/Program Files/Survive the Wild/lib/Tolk.dll

~//.local/wine/christmas-chaos/drive_c/Program Files/ChristmasChaos/Tolk.dll

Also, if you happen to experience any problems or crashes, please let us know here so the developer will learn of them. My tests thus far have gone really well.

Hi. I was just wondering, how do I upgrade my version of wine? I am using wine stable which is version six. It seems to be all the games. Is there a possibility to add the option to install the games from local files, like what you do with the games that require purchasing? This would prevent links from being broken.

Hopefully, we'll get a fully accessible open world game someday.

On Ubuntu Mate, you neeed to track down a PPA for it, on Arch or the latest Debian you can use the AUR or backports or Debian testing respectively. I don't have a PPA link to hand for Ubuntu Mate, I'm assuming you are on 22.04, so you could upgrade to 22.10 then 23.04 and so on, but I've had Ubuntu upgrades to new versions brick my sytem

edit: PPA link here: https://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/20 … ll-ubuntu/

Also for installing local games, would putting them in .cache work? I found out what your issue was on Arch and confirmed the --nocheck flag fixed it since I ran into that same issue myself the other day installing a different package as well, so if you wanted to go back to Arch you could just install the lib32 things with the --nocheck flag

I want to start this post by saying this is a really cool project. The number of moving pieces you've put together here is seriously impressive, and watching the entire audiogaming landscape for Linux change because of this project has been a sight to behold (pun intended).
With that said, I'm running into an error that has me stumped, and am hoping somebody will be able to point me to a solution.
I've been trying AGM out on my Debian/Mate system on and off for a few months, but none of the games I run are displaying windows that can gain focus. This occurred in both Wine 5.3.3 (Bullseye) and 8.0 (Bookworm/current). Once I realized Bullseye was only running 5.3, I wanted to wait for the release of Bookworm before actually bringing something up as a possible issue.
In short, everything is working great, accept for the part where the games should display a focusable window. Whether I run AGM in a terminal or via a desktop shortcut the result is the same: the game runs, but can't be alt-tabbed to or accessed in any other way (that I've found).

Some research pointed me to this:
https://unix.stackexchange.com/question … t-by-defau
which suggested using xdotool to first locate the window (xdotool search --name *) and then activate it using the id returned by search.
I've been using Paladin of the Sky for my testing because (a) it has music to tell me if the application is running, and (b) I can listen to it for a while on repeat without going nuts, so my commands look like:
find the id:
$xdotool search --name of
46137345
verify it's the right one:
$xdotool getwindowname 46137345
Paladin of the sky
great, activate it:
$xdotool windowactivate 46137345
XGetWindowProperty[_NET_WM_DESKTOP] failed ((code=1))

I have also tried looking for the window using wmctrl, referred to by:
https://askubuntu.com/questions/21262/s … of-another
and no window is listed for Paladin.

This behavior is consistent across games: I use Paladin solely as an example for illustrative purposes.
Is anybody having a similar issue? Has anybody solved it?

@john thanks, AGM has actually grown beyond even my grand vision of what it could be, and is still continuing to do so. I am really happy that so many people use and like it.

As for your problem, have you installed the specific driver for your video card? I am not sure how Debian names the packages, on Arch they are xf86-video-something for the most part, but you can do this to see what kind of card you have:

lspci | grep VGA

Once you know what kind of card you have, see if the driver is installed, if not install it and see if that fixes it for you. You certainly should not have to do anything special to focus game windows.

@StormDragon:

This is a bit off topic, but whatever happened to the tintin soundpack for Alter Eon? I wanted to install this on Mac, but the link appears to be dead.

My system has only Intel integrated graphics which, as far as I can tell, are included in the package firmware-misc-nonfree, which is installed.
This does appear to be an issue with all programs running under wine: launching applications directly (without the use of Audiogame Manager) also results in their not having a reachable window.

2023-07-09 05:06:36

@john do you happen to have a screen connected? I talked to someone earlier today who said he had this problem on a computer until he connected a screen. Another possibility is, do you have the lib32 version of the nonfree driver installed?

(edited after additional testing)
That is one unique solution. As soon as I connected a monitor I had a window and everything worked perfectly!
My system uses VGA, and I found the following:
*If a monitor was fully connected, everything worked.
*If only the cable was connected but the monitor was not plugged into the wall, everything worked.
*If the vga cable was connected to the computer but not the monitor, a window did not appear.
Thanks for the help!
