I'm trying this on a Linux Mint VM right now. This is really cool! I can't figure out how to install gecko and it looks like it's complaining that mono isn't available even though I did sudo apt install mono-complete and sudo apt install mono-devel. Most games I've tried thus far work just fine.

Is it feasible to get Entombed to run in Wine? If you're going to add it, please use this version. http://blind-games.com/newentombed/EntombedSetup.exe

Please add Shades of Doom 1.2 to the list. I prefer this version.

I have been trying to get Entombed working from the beginning. The link you provided is a newer version than the one I had originally. It is still not working, but I think we are getting closer. Fingers crossed.
It looks like Shades of Doom 1 is a no go. It installs and launches just fine, but as soon as you try to enter a door, it locks up. No errors or anything, you can still hear the sounds, but the game just stops responding. If I can figure out what's going on and if there's a fix for it, I will add it. This is why it's not in the list already.

Chris, to get monno / gecko installed, when creating a new wine config, just press enter in the respective installers and wait for it to do it's thing. Audiogame manager will always complain that they're not installed no matter what you do, I believe arch's way of installing them is very different to ubuntu's.

2020-12-05 18:25:35

What installers? All I did was sudo apt install wine and sudo apt install winetricks. Are all the other necessary packages available in the Ubuntu repository simply by typing sudo apt install and the name?

No, it's a lot simpler than that. All you have to do is run wine with any parameter. It will create a new prefix, and then download / open installers for mono and gecko. These are both inaccessible GUI's, but like I said earlier, enter should do the trick. They usually take anywhere from 10 to 30 seconds, but after that, you'll have mono and gecko. audiogame manager will probably still scream at you whenever you try installing something, but the games themselves will work just fine.

2020-12-05 21:03:30

So installing mono-complete doesn't at least fix the wine-mono problem? Having wine install them at runtime is ok, but it means each bottle is going to be much larger than it would have to be otherwise. I wonder if the path is different on Debian based systems. Do you get anything if you run:
ls /usr/share/wine/mono/
There should be a .msi file in there. On my system it is wine-mono-5.1.1-x86.msi
. If not, maybe I can come up with a better way of detecting it.
Also, I am working on the wiki and installation script for Debian based systems. It would be extremely helpful if someone could read through the Arch Linux instructions and post a package list based on the packages listed there. Remember, if you want to work on the wiki, or the code, let me know. I can add users to the fossil repository and set permissions for wiki editing etc.

wow, this sounds cool. I might have to get back into linex again just to try this, but I am having some trouble getting it up and running, so may need to make sure that my vm settings are right.

It's stored somewhere else on ubuntu / debian systems. I can't seem to find it right now, but that's probably why audiogame manager isn't detecting it.
Installing gecko / mono when creating a new prefix doesn't lock them to that specific prefix, so you shouldn't have problems there. The option to install them only appears when creating a prefix if they're not already present.

A new version of audiogame-manager has just been released. If your version does not update automatically, you will need to redownload it. There was a bug introduced in the last version that has been fixed now. After this version, automatic updates should work again.

If this could be somehow ported over to Mac OS, that would be a dream come true.

Greetings Moritz.

Instructions for Mac setup coming soon. It was reasonably easy so far to make the needed code changes on my end. They are being tested currently. The Mac side of things requires installation of modern bash, xcode, and a few other things.
Mostly I just wanted to let you know I haven't forgotten about your request, and it is being worked on. More soon.

mac support is here. It requires manual setup, so it is a wiki entry only. Thanks to Jeremiah Ticket for writing and testing these instructions. Thanks to lilmike for proofreading.

Hi, this does not work on mac. It gives an error saying the developer cannot be identified, and then only gives a cancel or delete button when trying to run the .mac file from within terminal.

I've been going by Bryn, which is now reflected in my profile. Please do your best to respect this :) Mess ups are totally OK though, I don't mind and totally understand!

A tip for fixing the above problem is now on the wiki. Here is the relevant text:
Gatekeeper must be disabled for audiogame-manager to work correctly. Run the following command to disable gatekeeper.

sudo spctl --master-disable

Nope, now it says audiogame_manager.mac's location has changed.

i'm having the same issue and my gatekeeper is disabled as well.

It should be fixed now. Also, for the Mac, the download is now a zip file. This apparently helps to keep things from breaking.

I think that is a cosmetic error. Since that was the first game you installed, the file didn't exist. It should exist now, and the game you installed should launch so long as it is in the list of working games. I will try to have that grep message fixed for the next update. If you are unable to launch the game, let me know, and I'll move that problem to the top of the list. smile

Yep, I'm using it on Linux, and just spent an hour playing Death on the Road. Really, this game manager is even great for finding *new* games to play, that I've not played before. I mean, when setup is as easy as choosing a game to install from a menu, it's incredibly easy to try new games, and i would encourage any developers to think about supporting this, or even adding your games to the list!

So I have an adventure at c save that I want to import into this and use it. Is this possible? I love this, and this is another reason why I don’t need to go in the windows anymore. The main one really. :-)

2020-12-16 06:47:52 (edited by stormdragon2976 2020-12-16 06:49:22)

you should be able to import them. If I remember right, there's a "stages" directory you put them in and they load. To get to that, go to the directory:
~/.local/wine/adventures-at-c/drive_c/Program\ Files
In there should be the installed program, and somewhere in that directory should be the stages directory.
After reading your post more carefully, I see you said save, not stage. The same thing should still apply, just put it in the correct spot, and it will hopefully work.

so where do i get the sequence storm thing from? i have it on steam for windows... also, how do i delete a game i no longer need/want, as i inadvertently installed RSGames which has its' own Mac client already.

2020-12-16 07:06:56

Sequence Storm can be downloaded from Itch.io. I'm not sure that you can get it there without paying for it again as I think that's different from steam. Sequence Storm does not work on the Mac for now. Hopefully we can figure out what the problem is with 64 bit games on Mac and get that resolved though.
To remove a game you no longer want, run audiogame-manager with the -r flag. Select the game you want to remove and press enter. you will get the confirmation message "The selected game has been deleted".
