@flameAlchemist, I'd recommend downloading read the spire as well,, it's a zip folder; you can get it from here@ https://github.com/pitermach/ReadTheSpi … s/tag/3.22


Find the link called rts.xip and press enter on it, save the folder, unzip it, open steme and run rts.exe, then tab until you hear something like toggle all mods on/off and presss enter or space, then tab to the play button and press enter and wait.


Once the game has started you might want to turn the music down, do this by doing the following: alt tab to the prompt window and type volume music 0.1 and press enter.


To start a game try writing start ironclad and pressing enter.


writing help and pressing enter will help you a lot.


remember alt left and right will switch between  windows, alt end will get to you the end of the messages and alt home will take you to the top. Using alt up and down arrows will move you to the messages.

@brad since this is the say the spire topic I assume that flameAlchemist is trying to install it and not text the spire for which read the spire is an add-on. Though of course you can use both say, text and read the spire as I do but without text the spire read the spire is not useful.

I don't see the names of the mods when I launch it. I see play and when I shift tab I see a list with five items in it, but I don't know what they are. I also see a dropdown box and a button that says plus add view profile.

If you are using NVDA you can navigate the mod list with object navigation. See the say the spire documentation for more info: https://github.com/bradjrenshaw/say-the-spire/

There is also a button "toggle all mods on/off" pressing that once enables all the mods i.e. they are not enable by default.

What I do is use object nav to go into the list, then go into the list again and go right with NVDA 6 and hear something like checkbox unchecked, if I wanted to check it I'd press NVDA plus right mouse button and then go up through the list with NVDA 2 then right, then down with NVDA 8 and keep doing that until the mods I want are checked, then tab to play.

I was able to enable all the mods, but nothing happens when I try moving the left and right thumb sticks. I didn't get anything when the game first opened.

this is likely a controller issue a lot of people in the thread have had. Can you try hitting the d-pad and other buttons and see if that works?

something happened when I pressed start, no clue what it was, but some kind of sound happened. nothing happens when I press any of the other buttons on my XBox control same with the d-pad, the sholder buttons, the thumb triggers on the back of the control and thumb sticks

have you entered a name for your save slot when you started the game for the first time? cause that is what the game prompts for you. after insert the name you have to press enter and your should be able to move through the menus

@flameAlchemist I think you have some kind of controller compatibility issue, which one are you using? Also to clarify that after you get past the intro logo thing that you don't hear any clicks when hitting d-pad down or up in the main menu?

Nope. no clicks when pressing on the D-pad. I'm using the default Xbox one X controller. Its not the one that comes with bluetooth. I have to attach a USB cord to it.

Okay in that case, run slay the Spire without mods and see if your controller works there. If it does then there's an issue with Say the Spire and I'll look into it. If not I think it's an issue with the controller, your steam settings, or the game itself.

Just disabled all the mods and no changes. the control is still the same. I tried it with another Xbox control and no changes. What could it be in the steam settings, the controller, or the game?

I know this isn't that helpful but I think there's a program you can use with the controler and it seamed to help people.


I tried this game with an xbox controler and it worked for me...


What mods do you have?


when I used slay the spire, I used read the spire, RTS.exe and it worked fine for me.

Try read the spire.


It's what I used and it worked for me.


IF you can't use your controler, then try text the spire, that should work for you, you can either enable or disable the say the spire mod when using it.

Now I'm not sure what's going on. I just tried running the game with all my mods active and I also tried disabling some mods, like text the spire, but its not running for some reason. is their a way I can delete a save in the games folder?

I press play, and mod the spire has the dialog come up saying what ran successfully, but the game doesn't show up at all.
