Hi all.
I'm creating this topic to discuss The last of us part ii, which has been released for Playstation 4 the 19th of June 2020 at midtnight in your own timezone.
I'm creating this topic in the new releases, because the game is fully accessible to blind gamers.
This topic will be full of spoilers, so now you have been warned.

How to start the game for those outside the US:
1. You can easily find the game on the home screen. If you press the down arrow on the game, the games music will play. This is a great way of knowing that you have the right game selected.
2. When you start the game for the very first time, press the down arrow once, and you will hear TTS, in the language your console is set to. The TTS and the games menu support most languages.

I look very much forward to play the game later today. I have never been that much excited for any game before. I have bought a ps4 mainly for this game, and I have the feelings that it's totally worth it.
Please share all your first impressions, thoughts, experiences etc. about the game. Lets share our experiences about the very first fully accessible Playstation game.

Best regards SLJ.

Got past the guitar part, but didn't have a lot of time to play. Also the game came out at 7 a.m here though that might be because PSN doesn't support my country and I had to use an acc from the us.

hi
o what about part 1 it is playable?
and maybe is for pc?
thanks

Toto, unfortunately the answer to both of your questions is no. Well, The Last of Us  1 might be playable to some extent, but it's certainly not accessible as in having been designed for accessibility. In no way at all.

What a pity, I can't afford a PS4 right now, not to mention I'm still not convinced I would really go for it just for a single game. I don't even have a TV or a capture card, either. But my brother does have a PS4 Pro, so I think I'll be moving to his apartment for the next couple of months. :-D Just joking, that's not really possible, plus I don't have the time. How I wish we lived in an ideal world where making any wish come true is just a matter of seconds. :-)

What the heck, I was in the middle of Liam's live stream of the game when it suddenly stopped. When I checked it out, I found out that the video was removed because it was violating Youtube's terms and conditions. What the hell? I've never seen this happen with a game play-through video before, and certainly not mid-stream. This is an undisputable proof that AI is in deed evil. yikes)

I won't be using this account any more or participating in the forum activity through other childish means like creating an alternate account. I've asked for the account to be removed but I'm not sure if that's actually technically possible here. Just writing this for people to know that I won't be replying, posting new topics or checking private messages until the account is potentially removed.

Like Lukas, I'd be more than happy to check the game out if there was a pc version, that being said, great to here one of the major developers on a console has actually made an accessible game with a tts, hopefully first of many, and indeed if it is! the first of many I might be getting a ps4 myself in the future too big_smile.

With our dreaming and singing, Ceaseless and sorrowless we! The glory about us clinging Of the glorious futures we see,
Our souls with high music ringing; O men! It must ever be
That we dwell in our dreaming and singing, A little apart from ye. (Arthur O'Shaughnessy 1873.)

This game is both amazing and awful. that's all I can say. I'm still trying to emotionally process it.

Actually, this is not the first of many. Sea Of Thieves is trying its hand at it. Gears of war five’s menus and horde mode are completely accessible. The division 2’s menus are also accessible. I have heard that other games are accessible, but I am not sure, so I will not list them.

2020-06-19 17:58:45

And yes, I have heard of the controversy of this game as well. So long as I get to kill zombies, I don’t really care about The story. That’s what watching the cut scenes on YouTube is for.

Hi, just curious, would flagging the video as 18 or older have helped it not get removed? Maybe this is what should’ve happened.

I do not want to look down at the efforts by other studios. Sea of thieves and Gears of War both have support for things like inventory, menus, and the like. but here's the problem.
there are no mechanisms in place to allow someone to actually play the game independently.
The Last of Us has pretty much single handedly blew away any other attempt at accessibility in a mainstream title.
The lesson that can be learned here is simple. Build accessibility during development, and not as an afterthought.
I hope more studios can follow the example of Naughty Dog. it may take a few years to see this bare fruit, but if they start now on the next generation of games, then hopefully in a few years we can have something to cheer about.

Wait, so the entire game is accessible? Well hell, I thought it was just another one of those afterthoughts.

2020-06-19 19:18:13

Hi.
@dalen lewin: I tell you: The whole game is 100% accessible from start to finish. I bought a ps4 for this game only, and I have never had such an amazing experience with any other game. Never ever in my life. I simply can't find the right words to describe how amazing this game is. Just holy wow...
At everyone else:
I have played the game for like 6 ours. It's much better than I thought. I love how you are slowly getting used to how things works. If you fail, you can either skip it if it's not important, or if it's important, you can do it over and over again until you learn it. I had some trouble on getting used to stealth kills. I learned it the hard way. smile
The game takes a while to get used to, especially what all the sounds means.
Sometimes, I find it a bit difficult to know what's going on like what I'm interacting with which is a shame.
Crafting is totally freaking amazing. If you don't look for crafting items, then you'll just make things harder for yourself. smile
I have only seen one thing so far which is not accessible, but it's not important for the story.
For those who feer the game will be completed too quickly: I tell you, this is not going to happen.
The rest is a spoiler regarding to where I am currently in the game:

I have not finished chapter 1 yet. I'm currently in the building with the first none human enemies. I think they were called runners.

The story is.. well, I don't know. I like the gameplay though.
Over all I'd give it a 7 out of 10 because of the accessibility and gameplay.
spoilers
I fought with some WLF's and got my ass kicked a few times.. oopsy. I did beat them on my third try, playing on the normal skill level. I want to like the story, but I don't like how they killed off Joel + I have to play as Abby and that sucks.
I do like Dina though

How many hours of gameplay would you say this can provide?

2020-06-19 20:54:24

I've heard 13 or more. I mean A lot can depend on if someone does side quests or just tries to blow through the main story.

I know this is a story driven game, but is there a way to go off the beaten path and just fight? Or do I absolutely have to go with the game in order to find enemies? I know that there are side quests, but that doesn’t mean the game is going to let you free roam and go at your own pace, but that is ultimately what I want from any game.

2020-06-19 21:46:24

Wow, this game sounds totally amazing, listened to 3 people who streamed it today, I like that its fully playable by us blind people. Sadly I don't have  a ps4, hope it'll be available on PC soon, so I can play like all the others right now!

Spoilers
Quick question, how do you deal with really large packs of infected. There are like a bunch of clickers and runners where I'm at, I have to run real fast, but the stupid infected people attack like super quickly and I get killed. Previously I used a molitov on them, but currently I don't have any since I just Kicked irm burned a shamblers ass. I die even on very light. Gonna try this again now.

I am going to rent this game at the very least. Not sure if I’m going to buy it or not, but I am definitely renting it.

2020-06-20 05:50:29

I'm stuck and giving up for tonight.

Help would be great.

Spoilers: I'm at the part where Abby is surrounded by infected. I've even turned the dificulty down to light and can't pass it.

I know I have to jump so i do, whilst holding l1 to run, but the problem is, I don't know where to run. I keep pressing r3 to try to run to my obective as quick as i can and get to the part where she says something like, don't think just run, but it's hard to get even there without dying.

End of spoilers.

My hands hurt from playing this amazing horrible game, I'm going to bed.

I'm gone for real :)

2020-06-20 08:22:41

@22
I did this gameplay yesterday. Honestly, I tried two times before to arrive. You mst use all the time l3 for the navigation, and L1 to run. Becarefull, if you are after, you musn't run but Kill.

2020-06-20 08:23:42

I'm having a little problem, and I think I found the inaccessible point of the game. Without spoiling too much, I finished chapter 1 and now I'm in the open area at Seatle. I know there are secondary places in this great area to visit and you have to use the map to find your way. How do we feel about this place?
thank you so much

2020-06-20 08:41:19
