The main goal of that part is to break away from him and kill him

I've never heard of the cues not playing when opening the glossary and choosing one, not even in this part, so that must be a bug. In any case, that's the impaled cue. So you must hold R1 to pull out the arrow or spike, or whatever it is that he's pierced you with. I'm surprised you haven't come across this earlier when fighting the Scars.
Lukas
I probably did, but I had a long break in between sessions. Thanks, anyway. And yes, the glosary really doesn't work in this part. You can open it, but no cues play.
@324:
Don't worry, the same thing happened to me when I got up to that part. I remember when I'd play, I'd sit down for like 10 hours straight and just go nuts, then I wouldn't touch it for 2 months. Iirc the prompt that explains what that is gets explained like... right near the beginning of the game and really only gets utilised like twice. At least, I never recall having to use it all that much.
Hi.
Spoilers ahead.
@324, Are you at the part where the thing is on fire, you have to try to keep from falling off the bridge, and then you have the fight? During that fight, you only have hand to hand combat, and eventually you have to do what others have said and press and hold R1 to remove whatever you were stuck with.
Yeah, I got past that. Thanks for your help all. Honestly I think restricting the glosary like this shouldn't be done, it's an accessibility feature after all. A sighted person can clearly see they're impaled, and I need to know the right cue for that. So it stands to reason I should always be able to listen to them to know what it sounds like.
I don't think they limited the glosary on purpose. Why should they? I believe it must be a bug. Someone could try reporting it, but I very much doubt they're going to fix it this long after the game's initial release.

The Last of Us Part I just got the trailer.
I wish their was a audio description of the trailer.
Since it was developed internally by Naughty Dog, on their engine, there's no reason for any of the options from TLOU2 to not be present in the remake. If so, that'd be a punishable omission!
Lukas
I agreed. Should be the same Engine that came out from The Last of Us Part II.
