It's still shut-in time. I'm bored out of my tree. Manamon 2 can help with that.

As such, I've been thinking of two teams I could run through the game with. I have minimal experience with both teams (i.e., I've used one or two members a bit on both). One team limits itself to manamon which only have one type. The other team is all holy types.
My question is: what should I use?

Team 1: mono
Members: Alluppig (earth), Angorge (water), Bamboom (electric), Centiplex (insect), Limtoroom (plant) Marlaunt (ghost).

Team 2: Holy
Members: Tenshaino (holy-fighting), Vishthaugh (holy), Caboerain (holy-water), Sanctosoul (holy-ghost), Pegastorm (holy-electric), Kamadeir (holy

And if you're wondering why I'm not using Angillish or Sacraloon? Well, I have way too much experience with the bird (it's a manamon 1 staple, and it's a bit better in manamon 2), and Angillish I used in my previous playthrough not too long ago.

Let me know your thoughts. I could also go for a poison-type team (Cerberat, Delazzard, Ratiera, Treezon, Ursinearator, Turoison) if it's more to your folks's liking.

I will obviously prep all the manamon myself, though I may need help with trading and all that jazz.

I'd generally recommend the holy team just because all of those manamon are pretty good but none are overwhelming on the other team.  I'd also be willing to help you get good stats and the like if you wish.

Getting good stats isn't too great a problem for me. I have plenty of gold in this file, and can easily grab the right team in, say, two or three hours, absolute max (I usually get bored partway through and come back later, is why).

So, I haven't played through manamon 2 in a long while, and am kinda curious how my newest old favorites would do. I think I've got some huge weaknesses with these, though. I still have gurrerrol, and I've added Mondevol, Grandlan, Deciced, Mortrex, and Sacroloon. This is totally a them or me kind of team. If I'm faster, and I don't miss, you're dead, or pretty close to it. If you're faster or if I miss, I'm dead. This team absolutely rocks Manamon 1. Because of Sacroloon, I had less of a struggle with Arctana and Ninjarkon that were faster than what I had. I also struggled less against Tigrath and Deciced and Snowmonno since I didn't have to worry about missing power kick. It was also kinda funny to use Mondevol, Grandlan and Deciced against Irroadium. They really make that fight a doddle. I think the biggest problem is going to be the bosses, especially Dyaz.

I had both Centiplex and Limtoroom on my very first playthrough. Limtoroom was fun, it was less squishy than it looked because of all the health restoration things.

I'd be much more interested in that poison playthrough to be honest, because poison types are still not overwhelming me with joy.

poison type, or the  first team. Allupig isn't so bad, it has hig strenght and defense. There are better earth types but I wonder how it goes for you. ANgourge has also a nice moveset

Only slight downside with the poison team is that I've used Ursinearator and Delazzard before. Also Cerberat but not through the entirety of the game. Have never used Ratiera or Turoison seriously because in my experience they sucked, but I think at least one of them has gotten better. Ditto Treezon. I know it gets Nature Smash though, so that's neat.

@jayde, nope... the two that sucked still suck. lol Ratiera gets sludge hammer... I guess? But that's about all that springs to mind as being actually good.

Actually, Sludge Hammer on Ratiera makes it halfway decent because it already had Powerfang. It's a pity it doesn't get Slash or Jumplets or some other standard move for coverage, but Power Punch + Sludge Hammer is actually half decent coverage.

I'm really leaning toward my holy team, actually.

I vote teem holy,

I am a divine being. I can be called a primordial deity, but that might be pushing it, a smidge. I am the only one of my kind to have ten tails, with others having nine. I don't mean to sound arrogant, but I have ascended my own race.

2020-06-17 14:22:29

use holy, because my manamon is there, Caboerain smile

2020-06-17 22:11:57

Seems like most people seem to want team holy.

One of these days I'm going to get around to using team mono though, since I like the look of several of its members. Ah well, maybe next time.

Okay, next thing I've got to do is get great stats on all six via breeding or whatnot. This'll take awhile. I've already got items picked out.

And hey, maybe at the end of both of these playthroughs (holy and mono) I will give away my six, complete with the items they're holding. Hint: it's a bunch of chrono cores; hugely useful while playing the game.

Turoison is better now. It has a good alternative ability (storm collector) that heals it in rain, can make it rain, has really hig defenses, protection, pluss deluge and toxic storm. It's magic attack is not so good, but it is meant to be a tank. It only needs pollution ssolution, but i guess it can't be perfect LOL
BTW, toxic storm should be like firestorm and hulricane
Good luck with that holy team

2020-06-18 00:56:26

how'd you manage to get more than one chrono core?

2020-06-18 01:02:39

Because I've beaten the game a whole pile of times, and for the last few playthroughs I've carried over one more chrono core than I had last time by trading out of my old file, making a new one, then having those old mons traded back in.

Glad to hear Turoison gets some better moves. It's always gotten Toxic Storm, mind you, but Deluge is definitely an upgrade. It already gets the ability to heal itself, but double heal in rain sounds decent. It's definitely tanky, yeah; that's why I considered it on a poison team. I went away from poison because I pretty much can tell you how that one will go. Ursinearator will wreck, Ratiera will try to wreck and sort of succeed, Delazzard will try to wreck and only manage late game, Cerberat will hit a bunch of different types, Turoison will take too long and Treezon is slow and is part plant type, = death sentence.

I think Ratiera's gimmick is a combination of speed, and murdering you with powerfang and shred, and of course making you recoil with sludge hammer. The only way you don't get powerfang and shred run down your throat from the all but one or two manamon that seem to have it is be a ghost. Though I guess a chrono core will counter powerfang and shred 50 hp at a time, so there's that.

2020-06-18 01:53:00

Shred sucks. Sludge Hammer is great. Power Punch is decent (does it still get that? It had better). Hell, maybe it gets something better than Shred for standard coverage. If so, good stuff. Otherwise it's just sort of wasting its standard typing.

Poison types are at least better in this gen than the first. Not miles better, but it's a start.

Also, Trumer isn't awful. Needs some better moves, but it's got some options.

We really need to be able to find a manamon with both Pollution Solution/Toxic Spray and Poison Pressure.

Treezon's coverage, imo, isn't that bad. It gets Nature Smash and Sludge Hammer, along with a lot of disabling moves.
Pegastorm's ability is super useful, as whenever you deal with electric types, you can basically tank the hits.

At last check, it didn't get Sludge Hammer. It got something like Toxic Storm or Viscism or something like that. Viscism is awful, Toxic Storm goes off special attack. I may be thinking of Thornita though.

It does get Viscism, but I can 100% guarantee it gets Sludge Hammer.

Nah, it actually gets all 3 of them, plus what I'm pretty sure is an exclusive move named toxic branch. Last one I don't see much use for honestly, Sirenea or some other edge cases aside.

To get Sludge Hammer on Treason, you need to wait to transform it after it's first transformation. I think you have to wait until level 30, then it will get Sludge Hammer.

Barren Byron used Nature Overdrive!

2020-06-18 03:14:48

Didn't realize you could transform it into Treezon from Thornub.

I think what Boy is saying is that you can't just transform it instantly the moment it gets to its second form if you want Sludge Hammer. That might've been why I didn't see it. If it gets both moves, then yeah, that's cool. The poison-plant move is extremely niche, and a bunch of things that would take super-effective damage from plant will resist poison, or vice versa, so it seems kind of niche. Neat idea, though.

My luck is absolutely awful tonight. I have bred fifty-six Cloritus and not one of them has been up to snuff yet. It usually doesn't take this long.

Number 63 was lucky. Still not amazing, but not bad, either.

Also also? Replacing Tenshaino with Dageetle. It's about time I gave this thing a fair shake.
