Hello guys!
I didn't quite understand how to get a key to use narration in retroarch.
Could someone explain to me?
ok, so you go to the settings menu, then to input. When you are there go to hot key binds. Now go one up, It should say AI service, if it doesn't just go more up. Then press enter and then the key you want to use
I ended up asking the wrong way. I would like to know how to get the key to paste in the retroarch, for example the obtained via google translate.
I found this, there's an official installation guide but I don't remember where it is.
I haven't even played those yet, so I can't say if it's accessible or not.
As for RetroArch, you have to go into the RetroArch folder, it's located in your C User Name App Data Roaming.
In there, open the RetroArch.cfg file, and find the line that begins by ai_service_url.Here is the line in my file, if you signed up on ztranslate.net it should be the same:
ai_service_url = "http://www.ztranslate.net/service?api_key=your api key"To bind the service to a key, you've to go in setings input and find the AI service line. There, type enter and then the key you want for that service.
Hope that helps.
@Garr, Small clarification, you need to press x (default) as a replacement for enter in RetroArch. Of course you can set enter, but that will make enter the a button in games too.
@DJEPIC I was looking for AI translate installation instructions and that's what I found. I know there's a guide somewhere but don't recall where.
Actually surprised it's not in post 1.
I put the correct url and key but notting happens, the setting is to narrator mode.
I found the guide here
I hope that the feature that I am looking forward to will work on other games soon.
I am having a problem that I need help with. I just install RetroArch back on my machine.
However I can't get the built in screen reader to turn on. What are the steps to turn it on?
I have follow the guide that I did for beginners. But the instructions didn't work.
I had to get someone sighted to help me to get to the accessibility option. I also notice that after I turn it on it still didn't talk.
However when I turn on NVDA it work. How do I use the program without NVDA? I would like to use sapi.
as fare as i know their are no advantigise of using sapi over nvda. but try starting it up with out nvda and if that doesnt work then i dont know
I'm not sure what's going on but, I set it up right the first time. Now the number of times I press the arrow keys is random, the menu is the same but pressing right can be 1 to 3 times and up is the same.
only difference I have were a couple of Windows updates
how do I even turn on the accessibility features in 1.8.9?
Well, my issue was actually my graphics drivers, everything is fine now.
@Boo15mario open retroarch then arrow right once and up 7 times and enter, then right and enter.
@642 it is not working for me as it is in desktop mode
ok, go to your appdata foalder and the open retroarch.cfg with notepad. From there locate menu driver and change it to XMB. Close that and open retroarch. Now try 1 right 7 up enter and 1 right
@645 thanks
I was also able to set the accessibility mode to true as well
is possible for ai service to read only the selected menu option and not the entire screen?
no
I know this has been posted before, but I haven't found an answer to it. I'm trying to play Pokemon Heart Gold using Retro Arch. However, after I press the AI Service hotkey to read some of the messages, the game just crashes and makes the program close. I'm using the latest version of Retro Arch, AI Service is set to Narrator Mode.
I also put the following url in the AI Service url edit box:
http://ztranslate.net/service.
I haven't changed any of the audio or video settings, maybe that has to do with it.
