I am About to put a pledge down right now.

This is super  cool. Confused about what the simulation is supposed to do though.

Hey up guys! So happy to read you're thinking about or have pledged. I'm doing a new build based on feedback this weekend so I'll be sure to firstly increase the speed of, and secondly increase the volume of, the footsteps. It's something a lot of people have mentioned.

As regards passing, we're almost at 50% after two and half days, which bodes quite well for hitting the £4000. If we double that, we're thinking about a release on Switch. But shhhh.. that's a secret wink.

All the best

Best of luck with Nintendo lol. I've heard they can be... Fun to work with.
Glad to see the kickstarter is coming along so well.

Wouldn’t Microsoft help? They seem more open to accessibility.

I'd totally get it on the switch.

I've tweeted at them, but I mean, it doesn't feel likely..

Without having the backing of a publisher, it may be difficult. that being said. Xbox will make it possible for you to self-publish. Take a look at the Xbox ID stuff.

I think an Xbox release would be awesome, I’m thinking of getting one at some point. Would a PS4 release be possible to? I have family members and friends that use PS4. Stick to what you feel comfortable with though, a release on PS4 really isn’t too terribly necessary, albeit it would be pretty awesome.

PS4 would likely be a lot harder than xbox.

Further ports require a fair bit of time, which means money, so as with most things right now. The success of the Kickstarter dictates the scope of the release platforms. Console is great, but I think the demand for an audio game is somewhat smaller there, and most console gamers use speakers rather than headphones, which also isn't ideal for us.

2019-10-18 20:21:12

That's not entirely true. Modern consoles have headphone inputs, and most serious gamers also use headsets while gaming. smile

..disexcept the Switch, when it's in docked mode. Yay...
If it was somehow ported to the Switch, it would be super cool if you could use the HD rumble whenever we moved, to feel more immersed.
I also noticed that when in focus mode and walking past someone, the audio signal becomes garbled, and they sound really odd. Although, I'm not sure if the Switch has the means to support binaural audio.

Thanks for the heads-up, this looks quite intriguing and I'll be sending a few dollars your way in a month or so. I'm also relieved this isn't yet another "blind hero must learn how to fight and survive in a world of darkness, find a love so you can caress her face and probably get your sight back after killing the big bad" kind of story. Not that 3d audio games with these mechanics have all been bad, many introduced great mechanics and stories, but that blind person in a 3d audio world trope has kinda been beaten to death already so I'm happy you're not building your world around it.

Boldly going where everyone's already been.

Thanks audacity! The Kickstarter will finish in 27 days, so a month may be too late!

Just realised I didn't answer the simulation question! The story is set in this post-apocalyptic city, and so we liked the idea of people selling binaural simulations of past events from the previous society. The one that's in the tech demo is a race track event, but we've got a jungle, an alien planet etc. in the works. You can turn around in these environments, as the audio is ambisonic, and so is turned into binaural in real time, but you can't move around within them. It's a way of showing off the beauty of binaural in more types of environments than we could conceivable make 3D levels for.

Hi Pitch Black

Good to see you on the forum, I’m really impressed with the demo, I think the quality  of sounds and voice acting is fantastic and makes for a great sound scape in the demo, I also think the audio focus mechanic is a clever idea for a navigation tool  and works really well.  I saw your earlier post about updating the demo build this weekend based on feedback you’ve received so far, it’s great to see developers keen to get involved with the community and open to making changes and suggestions people have given. I backed the project on day one, I really hope you guys both meet and exceed your Kickstarter goal, also really love that you are offering a PC, mac and mobile version too.

So whenever I have used the arrow keys, sometimes I turn quickly, but sometimes I don't turn. That may not be the case, but I could be wrong.

Hi Paul! Thanks so much for your support, and of course! The Kickstarter is obviously important for raising development funds, but it's also a wonderful way to get feedback from a really broad array of people. It'd be ridiculous of us not to take that on board and make changes.

Mitch, so sorry you're having an issue with that, it's not one we've encountered before. Is it repeatable, perhaps in a certain area? If you have the means to record the audio (can be done on Windows using Audacity) that could help us sort it.

I would like to try the game for myself on windows 7 to see what it's like before it's released but will the game include missions or Cutscenes or is the game just exploration or is it a simulation?
or does the game have a storyline?

Hi,
I have tried the demo and it is really awesome!
I have a question though: Is this game going to have combat or is it just going to be a Story-driven puzzle game?

Greetings and happy gaming, Julian

Hey there!

So lovely to come back here and read such kind comments. To quickly answer some questions.

No combat in this game, but should this be a success (and the company continue to be viable after release, which in part is dependent on how well the Kickstarter does, as that's a good indicator of demand), combat is something we'll tackle. It's something I'm not sure has been done in a way that's genuinely satisfying, but it's very tricky to get right with audio, particularly to build in complexity without adding a bunch of frustration. But as I say, it's something we'll get to in the sequel.

And, it's all on the Kickstarter page - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pi … udio-game/ - but the story line, and the world that it lives in is something we've spent months and months developing. The game is also fully voice acted.

Thanks again for the support everyone, and if you can, please do share the Kickstarter page to anyone who may be interested. It really does make a massive difference to us and the project.

All the best
Harry
