No, you wouldn’t be in trouble for sure.
Now for the last time on this post, topic, and wherever it could be, I’m pointing out my feelings about what Molly Burke does on her channel on Youtube, and the reason I’m doing this in the first place is because what she does affects me and a whole community as well.
So she posts a video on how a blind person uses a computer and gets two million views on that video. The way it is delivered or presented to the audience is one which actually tries to amaze people because she even points this out somewhere around the beginning of the video. So it’s like saying so you wanted me to post a video on how a blind person uses a computer? Here it is! This gives me the impression that she’s using her videos for a purpose, because when I’m recording a video that is highly informative, I don’t have much time to say something which will affect people more than the video itself. And she achieves this wonderfully with some 47,000 comments saying it’s amazing, it’s magical, it’s wonderful, how the hell does she do that, and so on. When I am asked to explain something unfamiliar to a sighted person, I try to keep it simple andI’m very careful with the way I present it because I don’t want to be seen as a God, first, and second, I want this phenomenon, like using a computer or a cellphone as a blind person, to be as normal and as common as possible to the sighted world, so we are seen as normal human beings and not like God-like creatures. Under the circumstances I live, the only thing I want in this world is to be accepted as a normal human being, because at the moment you get a reaction like God how the hell does he do that, you’re immediately being differentiated from that person, and this, I tell you, is the most serious hinderance to creation of a normal relationship with a sighted person because there will most probably always be a gap which will prevent the growth of your relationship.
Can we actually avoid the reactions which create a gap in the communication between us and another person due to blindness? It varies, but we shouldn’t at least be those who contribute to the creation of one. That is, I feel, what Molly Burke does.
Cheers.
