Hi all,

I actually have two questions regarding keymapping in swamp. I will break them down in two smaller sections:

question 1:
I know that it is possible to map the buttons of a xbox one controller so the game can be played. But i get a little stuck in the process of mapping the buttons. So, could someone please give me a hand with setting up a keymap file with joy to key?

question 2.
Or is it possible to configure the keyconfig.ini file so the game can be played with the keyboard only? Not that i dislike the mouse, but i am just curious on how this playing experience feels smile

Hope to hear from someone soon.

In keyconfig.ini, you can change the inputs for "move forward" and "fire weapon" to whatever you want. You can't change fine aiming, but the game can be played without that.
I haven't figured out how to use the analog sticks with Joy2key, but opening a config file in notepad might make this more doable?
I used the shoulder buttons for mouse movement. It's a bit obnoxious because I think it expects you to use the mouse to click on the tabs in the set button configuration box, so anything we do with the keyboard gets caught by the keyboard mapping until we switch tabs. I also haven't tried this on newer OSes until just now, and it freaked out and I got stuck in that box and had to use taskmgr to kill it. So you might need to use the review cursor / Jaws cursor to switch to the mouse tab.
Looking at a config file in notepad, it looks as though it should be able to map just about anything on the controller, and I'm confused that I haven't been able to find options for the sticks in the main window.

I came up with an x-mouse configuration to be able to play with the keyboard and the mouse without switching keyconfigs.
For a keyboard config, I just change the firing and moving forward to k and semicolon, respectively. With x-mouse you can then set left mouse button to simulate k and right to simulate semicolon, or whatever setup you have.
I like my setup, I can turn on the front and back radar, navigate menus, move maps and switch to my favourite weapons with just my mouse.

Hi,

@cae_jones,

Thanks a lot for your answer. Only one question about the keyconfig.ini file, how can you aim somewhat precisely if the only turning method you have is the 45 degrees turning? Or is there something i am missing?

I did manage to switch to the mouse tab, but as you mentioned, the key which gets registered is the tab key, or in other, more rare occasions, the shift.

@lordlundin

Thanks as well for your answer. It sounds interesting, but is x mouse a specific application or did you change your config in the keyconfig.ini file?

I will give it a shot i think big_smile

x-mouse is an application that can use your mouse to simulate keystrokes on your computer. The latest accessible version is here, don't update.

Hi,

@lordlundin,

Thanks for the link, +1 for that one smile I did download it, and will play around with it somewhat.

In the meantime, if anyone has information regarding mapping the keys so swamp will work with a xbox one controller, i'd be glad to hear about it smile
