well some of you here probably already know about this, but it is really cool. duolingo is a language learning app for IOS where you select a language, and then complete lessons and level up, you can get powerups and other things too! There are 30 languages to select from, and it is 99% accessible. it might take you a few out of healths to get used to it, but you'll be going in no time. I just got it a few days ago and love it. post your comments, and add me to your friend list! my username is wbt-gamer, what's your's?

sorry for doubleposting, but the reason I put it here is because it is a game, seriously it feels just like playing a game.

2018-12-15 01:48:56

Uh... no, it's not a game. lol Nor is it new.

does it work on android?

2018-12-15 08:36:20

@3: it behaves in the way games do. gems, health, etc make it a game. @4: I will have to check on that but it got a website so you could just go on that to use it.

We'll have to agree to respectfully disagree on this one. Ask anyone and noone will tell you duolingo is a game, though it may have similar characteristics to one... but I'm not a mod, so what do I know?

Yes, it works on any kind of platform, even on pc. It's not a game, it's a language learning app. I've been learning czech for a short time on it, and yes, it's accessible. And it's not new at all.
And if i can suggest something, than try it on pc instead, the web version, because it's the most accessible there... And definitely no, we aren't talking about a game, omg.

2018-12-15 18:55:44

I have played it on android and it helped me learn more english, so, it is nice and accesible too.
A game, nah, not really, but worth trying if you want to learn a language.
And, wow, when I played it in 2016 I believe, it did not have gems, health and these things, I have to try it again.

I am myself and noone is ever gonna change me, I am the trolling master!

Although it has some elements of gaming, such as xp and levels, in order to keep the user motivated to use the platform and learn a foreign language, it is not a game for sure.

2018-12-15 23:37:47

ok ok, point made. ps: when did it actually come out? I thought it was new. also mods move this to off-topic and, thirdly, yay! I will be able to play on my touch when I finally get it!

yep,  it is accesseble on android. I have it and i really like.

Yours kindly

Ok so my take on it although I do feel like people shouldn't be bickering about it.
Yes it's a learning app, but the functions of it is a game. Your learning but your learning to get points to get more stuff to unlock other features. There are achievements you have to complete. I don't have any friends yet so I don't know if that adds anything to it. You can dress up your little bird in different suits, but you have to play/finish lessons to get the lingots*which is what the little dollars are called*.
There is also a new feature I came across, your suppose to have a conversation with a bot. Either way it does have a very game like feeling to it. It gets intense because you want to finish/complete the achievements. So for those who kind of feels like its not a game, I'm sorry. It's meant to be challenging while being fun at the same time.
My username ... ok, I don't know but wbt-gamer I friended you.
And I bought the track suit for my bird so he's looking quite flashy!!!! So learn and have fun.

What languages can one learn?

2018-12-16 18:57:57

I don't think duolingo is very suited to learning a language all on its own. While it does teach you new words and things effectively, you don't have many tools when it comes to learning gramma. Where it may come in useful is for home practice, if you're studdying the language primarily in a different course or at school.

I used to be a knee like you, then I took an adventurer in the arrow.

@16: I just had to laugh at your misspelling of the word grammar, on a language learning topic? and yeah, with spanish, I am being helped by some other friends too, not just duolingo.

2018-12-17 09:41:05

Just laugh, although you won't really ceach anything with it. Nobody is perfect, especially if his native language is not english. And well, that's true, but for example there are languages that have a section called tips and notes, and there it explains almost everything, for example if there are grammar things in each of the skills. For example i'm learning czech with it, and it explains a lot of things.

what do you imply by this?
