I am surprised why skype 8 hasn't got advertisements. I think it does, but somehow it's not accessible to screen readers. Or else, how would Microsoft profit?

skype version 8.36  works for now. you know uninstall 8 and delete skype stuff from appdata and you should be good for a wile lol.
also make sure you turn off automatic updates

Well, I guess they figure that most users won't hide Cortana, and won't disable the chat suggestions she gives, which IMO are super fucking creepy, so perhaps that's how the ad revenue is generated in Skype 8. You could also disable the ads in Skype 7, and it was a very simple process.

The glass is neither half empty nor half full. It's just holding half the amount it can potentially hold.

I turned off those suggestions. It just adds more clutter to the already cluttered window. With them off, I can just shift+tab a couple times to get to the history area.
