@assault_freak The one that costs 1 gem is a micro games party, not mini games. Micro games are small challenges you're supposed to figure out on your own, and find a way to get the ruby.
A minigames party costs 8 gems, and you will get the instructions as usual. However, when you launch a party yourself, you will anyway play only the games you have unlocked, so you will not encounter anything unfamiliar. On the other hand, by playing the board mode you could also reach some games you didn't play before, but will as usual get the description.
