Welcome to my development topic on silkroad online.
Since this is a development forum, i will post more details regarding programming updates.

If you wish to have more information on the game system, please google for Silkroad Online , this should give you tons of information.
Not that i am not willing to put the information here, but its to much to list.

Below you can find the client updates.
I will not list the server updates, as they are not important to the end user.
Just note that if the client progress seems slow, its a Multiplayer game so i have to program all server functionality as well.

Client Functions.
Sound FrameWork.
- 3d Realistic Audio system which includes calculations for speeds rotations movement and so on.
- TTSEngine .
- Speak Through microphone (Still debating myself to enable or disable that functionality).
- XBM Sound compression which is a great compression for all sorts of sound types.

Movement Framework.
- Free Roaming Engine which allows you to move anywhere you like.
- Teleportation
which allows you to move to another world / region.
- Horse / Ox / Animal Transportation.

Drop / Loot System.
- When drops are available you can press L on keyboard to open the Loot System, Or press Up on the D-Pad of the xbox controller.
- When in range of loot you can use this function.
- If you decide to not pick up loot it will be pickable for anyone after one minute.
- After 2 minutes the drop will dissapear.

Character Creation.
- Choose Hair Style.
- Choose Hair Color.
- Choose Facial Hair.
- Choose Eye Color.
-Choose Body Type.
- Choose Gender.
- Choose Voice for emotes.

Account System.
- Each Account Can Hold 3 Characters.
- Simple and quick sign up.

Map System.
- Press M or the Back button on xbox controller to open the map.
- You will be presented witht a list of objects in the region.
- Select a object to start the indicator sound.
- The indicator sound will guide you to the destination.

What am i looking for ?
More voice actors, thanks for the ones allready participating.
The game wiill be almost 100% spoken with voice actors.
So i am always looking for more voice actors,, since the game will contain loads of quests, npc's monsters etc.


I will keep updating this post as i continue work on this project.
When i feel its playable enough a public alpha test will be done.

Hello Xsense, I'm not a professional voice actor, but I can try for sure. Perhaps I can bring some vendor npcs to life, who knows. big_smile
I've played Silk Road with a friend a few years ago. Even being completely blind, I've tried lots of mainstream games. In fact I have more experiences with regular games than audiogames to be honest.
Regarding the character's movimentation, perhaps you can trade a chip or two with Aprone. Since he was the first, as far as I know, to introduce the use of the mouse on a multiplayer audiogame.

Anyways all the help in voices are welcome, the more the better as the quests and npc's etc will require a lot of audio.

I will talk to him regarding that when i get the chance.
Sounds interesting smile.

It's great to hear more people played this game, how was your experience on it ?
The fun thing is they used to have an auto select target option which would auto target monsters i guess thats a big help in that game as well.

Hey Xsense, how goes it? Well, my experience with Silkroad was a bit strange at first, since the original sounds of the game are not very accurate. After getting used to it, it was very fun to play, even needing aid all the time to say what is going on.

Its good to hear you had fun playing silkroad smile.
Im sure that this game will be great fun when accesible

The alpha time is not know.

As for updates.
The voice acting has begun which is great so we can implent realism instead of a sort of realistic tts engine.

As for the game function i have made 2 major updates.
One to the sound system which is

First,
The sound engine now uses speed velocity sound adjustment.
Meaning when a horse passes by or and object or when your running fast.
You can hear the surrounding sounds transform as it would in real life.
Imagine a ambulance passing by in high speed you can hear the sound transform ,
The game does the same now.

As for in game updates.
I have created a map system which is easy to use.
When you press M on keyboard or the Back button on the Xbox controller.
You will be presented with the map of the current world you are in.
Then you get a list of surrounding objects on that map.
Select an object and press Enter on keyboard or A on the Xbox controller.
Then an indication sound will start playing letting you know where you should walk to.
To turn the sound off again do the same action open the map and select the targetted object to disable the sound.

Wow, this sounds awesome. The quests, etc are being updated from the original, inaccessible Silk Road?
Or are brand new ones being created? Creating them from scratch will take longer. There are a few good voice acters in this community, but I think the best voices will be from professions, like those found at voice123, etc.
