Hi guys, sorry for the lateness of this update, I've been working on a lot of things lately external to warsim and haven't been able to put much time into it as I could before, I will continue to develop it but the development speed will be a little slower while I sort stuff out, but as always Warsim will not be abandoned don't you worry, I won't be like some of these other early access devs that drop projects and disapear! That being said this update has a lot of different things in it, some reworks to little things here and there, new content, cheat codes, exploration, kingdom types and additional moddability!

**MAIN STUFF**

This is for the main stuff that has no category, now the faction name system is moddable and also the way faction names are made should work a little better, we have a new cheat code, a little rework of the menu, some new units and origin stories, A compact race selection menu and sort of orange coloured orange people!

* Made Faction name system moddable
* Added new system for faction name generator for race suffixes to be used in faction name (Chaotic Magi = Chaotic Dominion etc)
* Added new code '710' that will spawn you a list of 100 random races
* Added main menu link for features and bugs suggestions
* Updated warsim links and community section on main menu
* Added new hero origin story 'Broken hearted merc'
* Added new hero origin story 'Willow'
* Added new unit type 'Marshal'
* Added new unit type 'Justiciar'
* Added new unit type 'Adjutant'
* Added when selecting custom races new more compact race selection menu (credit u/YetiRoadBurger)
* Now orange races will be coloured a light browny colour which is the closest we can get to orange

**NEW LOCATIONS**

The second region of the east is now complete, it's not the most busy area but there are some cool things to explore

* Added Nameless ruins to the east
* Added Strange statue to the east
* Added the Paio'ak tree to the east
* Added the Piaa'ok tree to the east
* Added the Poai'ka tree to the east
* Added the Pkao'ia tree to the east
* Added abandoned jungle temple to the east

**NEW KINGDOM TYPES**

Some of these were previously added but blocked from appearing, now you will find a few more kingdom types in your worlds depending on the civilisation level of its occupants, Archonate and a Kingdom ruled by an Archon will be quite rare.

* Added new kingdom type 'Archonate' (Archon as ruler)(Justiciar as lord) (requires civ level 6)
* Added new kingdom type 'Kingdom' (Archon as ruler)(Lord as lord) (requires civ level 6)
* Added new kingdom type 'Land' (Marshall as ruler)(Warlord as lord) (requires civ level 4)
* Added new kingdom type 'Earldom' (Earl as ruler)(Lord as lord) (requires civ level 5)

**MAGIC FRUIT FARM**

The magic fruit farm is updated with some new suggestions from Vylcount

* Added ability to see how much bluetrii you have in magic farm (credit u/Vylcount)
* Added max number of possible bluetrii growing in magic farm (1000) (credit u/Vylcount)
* Added new farmsize description on magic fruit farm
* Added new text responses for having no gold, planting a plant and trying to plant too many plants

**BUGFIXES**

* Fixed name unity removing evil laws screen (credit u/Vylcount)
* Fixed Underland and Overlord kingdom types being blocked from generating in game
* Fixed blackmarket kids not despawning properly
* Fixed the colour issues of several locations in the east
* Fixed holy order of roses weird dialogue bug (credit u/YetiRoadBurger)

The faction name system has been expanded on for the first time in a while so now the range of names the factions you find can have should be a fair bit more broad, but more to come later!

Cool update! Especially props for adding more to the east! Those trees are, intriguing... big_smile
And the huge list of new faction name parts should add allot as well.


I don't mind if development slows down, it was going at a feverish pace before anyway so we were just being spoiled, being downgraded to a more normal schedule isn't exactly agony.
But seriously, please let us know when your gonna be gone for a while... it freaks people out. I know you must hate admitting that things aren't all peachy and that it must feel like defeat, but you've got a community of good people here from what I've seen, we can take it, and we'll forgive you being slowed down by real life when it isn't like, half a year of complete downtime. And even then I think most of us would be nice about it...
After all this is just a side project you love, it's not exactly raking in the dough, and if you don't make money you can't keep developing anyway.
You shouldn't have to feel so ashamed by simply admitting your only human to a bunch of other humans you know?

Hello guys, the crowning jewel of todays update is the battle prep overhaul, it's not the most major change but it marks the first significant changes to the battle preparation part of the game for a long time, answering some long time complaints about sending troops to battle and also adding lots of functionality to your generals and a new purpose to them being trained and higher skilled.

**BATTLE PREPARATION OVERHAUL**

Warsims battle preparation system has been untouched for a long long time, years and years with no further development, it was one of the earliest parts of the game and it hasn't aged well, we've had generals in the game for a fairly long time too and they don't seem to be good for all that much, this update makes a start on fixing both of those problems.

* Made general's pre battle graphics uniform in their layout
* Added general offers you choice pre battle of troop assignments
* Added generals with 100+ skill can offer 2 extra options
* Added generals with 150+ skill can offer 2 extra options
* Added if no general then default troop system
* Added ability to type again if you overtype the number of troops (credit u/yetiroadburger)

**NEW RACE MODIFIERS**

Although the effects of these races aren't new, they have been slightly modified offering some further variation of actually functional race modifiers.

* Added new race suffix 'Thoughtless' (stupid race)
* Added new race suffix 'Sightless' (eyeless race with lower stats than eyeless)
* Added new race suffix 'Baby' (young face and low stat race)

**NEW FACTION NAME PARTS**

Another batch of names for the faction name generation system, I attempted some additional reworking of the faction name system but it failed my tests and didn't do what was intended so I had to roll it back, will revisit it soon though.

* Added new faction name part 'Imbrued'
* Added new faction name part 'Maroon'
* Added new faction name part 'Rouge'
* Added new faction name part 'Rose'
* Added new faction name part 'Rose-Gold'

Neat! I thought it was spelled ruffian though not roughian? LOL
Great to hear the battle system is getting improvements... some day I wish for a list of your unit types in order from most to least amount or maybe highest to lowest battle score, that you can individually set amounts on before battle. This way you don't have to go through the entire list of unit types one by one and say no yes yes no no no no no no no. LOL
You could even break it into sub menus like kingdom units including peasants soldiers knights and champeons, then slaves/goblins/bandits, and then units from other kingdoms/demons/nomads. I guess it may be slower, but, less annoying I think... And since you could just leave a bunch of them untouched for most battles it wouldn't be required to set every single one each time either.
I also still really hope for a compression lib to get some higher quality/more varied music and maybe some ambience for various major areas too. I really think it's worth looking into since sound is a major medium for scene setting.

Ooh, that's a good point, I think Ruffian is the more common one, I'll note that down good call!

Hmm, yeah will have to think of ways to implement any further changes, but at least this new system makes it much easier to do battle without typing tons of numbers each time especially if you have a diverse empire with units from all five nations

A music overhaul would be awesome, I'd ideally love to have sound effects for all aspects of the game too, making it more diverse

@bookrage, the generals options are based around troop deployment, so pre battle you don't have to select individually each amount of units anymore for those not interested in the micro management, I may soon add the option to make it so that generals can be instructed to do it all for you including choosing who to attack, but who knows

To be honest audio stuff never interested me in Warsim nor I'm intrigued by what has to come. I think the game needs more focus on gameplay and balancing at the moment really, sound is so trivial right now.

TBH, music and singing ( and battle sounds recently) are so annoying in Warsim I'd rather listen to my grandmother, trust me once she start singing herself your favorite melody would be silence.

That's why the Sound stuff is and should be optional. For some People it won't be important and others including me, are waiting for it. So, I think both aspects stay at the same levels and importance for one or another.

yeah, that's what I mean as well. That are Little things wich make the world more alive. And for me, the live Performances of all Kind Count into that as well as throne room Encounters, quests and on the other Hand even the Audio stuff. Warsim cares even about the Little things wich make the game and it's world more alive as well as it cares about the bigger things and even game balancing. That makes it so unique. Even the growing flexibility in Terms of Options and styles how a Player wants to Play adds extra flavour into all this, so, everyone will be satisfied.

I give my credit and respect to Huw for the singing performances to say the least. And the procedural "songs" musicians make are unique to Warsim, but I guess being a text/console game: 'sounds stuff' shouldn't take much of the effort needed as other parts of the game (especially since you can't lower the volume), that's my two cents.

I like the Sound stuff and think a console game wich is text based and Sound stuff can fit well together, that worked in the wastes as well and there's room for improvements. Like I said, I think both aspects are at the same Level for me, especially if they can compliment each other, wich they can do. Could always lower the volume of the recordings. I think the various orchestral stuff is a we bit on the loud side so I have it off myself, but everything else is fine. I think the reason why I didn't mind the waste music so much is because it was just amvient music and sound that went on in the background.

You should be able to lower the program volume via "sndvol" just type that into run or start menu.
Also, you can see the faces, roof tiles, and other Ascii. We can't, so this is what livens it up for us. Obviously it should be optional though.
And agreed, I think battling needs improvements and their needs to be more major events and inter kingdom politics, I've given ideas for those in the past but, I guess they aren't priority so I've kind of given up on asking. It's not my game after all...
I do like the area expansions though, and I appreciate pretty much everything that gets added anyway. But yeah the core of this game is still rather basic and gets boring easily, which is unfortunate.

that was in my mind as I messioned sounds a while ago because of the ascie grafics a seeing Person has. Even that don't stands in the way of being a textbased game and Audio can add exactly that part of a living world for blind People as well. Like I said, optional, so just if you want it, you can turn it on, wich I will do if it Comes.

in truth, another thing I like is in the songwood forest area where there is just a recording of bird songs in the trees if you sit around at one spot. It is pretty cool.
