Alright thank you. Will test it again when I have time.
@firefly, I think the demo is only on steam.
edit: uh? I think it is no longer availabel.
Ah, that pleases me. Then at least I'm not too stupid to find it on steam, haha.
It all sounds nice, but isn't the gameplay too short? For 19.99 euros I could get a title like Hades with an infinite replay value, almost two copies of slay the spire with dozens of hours to invest in, like 10 copies of sequence storm expansions with infinite playability as well, or a few hearthstone packs with invinite replayability. 4 hours are just, too damn short.
4 hours for a beat em up of this nature is actually pretty normal... see games like Streets of Rage 4, Bladed Fury, Double Dragon Neon, etc.
HMM, i know this goes a little off topic: Are there any interesting sidescrolling RPG's?
No metroidvania. I realy mean a RPG.
But if I'm not mistaken, it means once you complete the story, 4 hours that is, you can still play online and things like that, right?
@57, which game are you refering to? If it's this one, I don't know as I haven't played it. But most side s scrolling beat em ups in this category don't generally have online modes with some exceptions. So the question of whether 4 hours of game that you might occasionally replay is worth $20 is up to you, really taking into account higher difficulties and if a game has a decent enough fighting system that puts enough variation into each playthrough.
@Destranis: yeah, you sure can.
@firefly82: odin sphere for ps2, or odin sphere leifthrasir for ps3. Sacred Citadel on steam. urm what else... grandblue fantasy versus I think.
Street of rage 4 has a bit replayable volue and variation like Assault describes, but the game isn't that playable unfortunetly. It lacks a lot of sound cues.
Granblue Fantacy VS. is primarily a fighting game, not really a side scrolling rpg. But Odin Sphere Liefthrasir is a good choice.
aha true. I was thinking about the rpg mode. more like a fighting game mix with rpg mechanics I guess.
Have you completed grandblue vs @Assault? sorry out of topic a little.
It's definitely a fighting game first... but it's cool seeing the additional side scrolling areas pop up in the story mode. No, I haven't beaten it yet. I still have it on my ps5, but wasn't able to really get into it.
Hidden Dragon Legend and Eastern Exorcist are a couple good ones I can think of when it comes to fighting/action rpg stuff. They even satisfy me on a metroidvania level given I like that genre too.
How do you guys run odin sphere leafdracer on the emu, seriously? I don't know how. The rom placement on ps3 is so confusing!
Hi.
The game is on extreme discount in the Playstation store at the moment, 80% discount, so I just purchased it and will look at it later.
Have someone bought the full version and actually seen how far you can progress in the game?
Early impressions of the game? So far, it's entertaining enough. But the lack of voice acting, which means a constant need to OCR, combined with difficulty choosing missions, is kind of annoying. I got a mission early on and couldn't figure out how to accept it, and just seemed to stumble into it by accident while leaving the camp. Gameplay itself seems to be ok, all four face buttons seem to be mapped to attacks, just can't figure out which is which, and the l1 perry mechanic is cool because it actually gives you a decent window even if you don't press it exactly. Let's see how much further this goes... lol
check out post 15 for controls, I think you just have to convert it to playstation's. for mission, you have to pick one first, and then you can leave the camp. the main hub section is a bit annoying yes.
Ok. Other than the settings screen being different on the ps4, everything else looks the same... I guess at the beginning there's only one mission, but it seems that OCR gets the dialogue and mission details in one option, so I'm not sure what that'll look like when there are multiple ones. And does voice acting ever show up? Seems kinda pointless if there's no voice acting to have a voice language... lol
When I played it, the story cut scenes were voice acted, as well as the characters I talked to.
Never mind, figured out the dialogue. Turns out I turned it down by accident somehow. I'm curious... are there audible cues when you pick something up? Or do you just have to press the pick up button and hope you get something?
there is sound, yes.
Does anyone know what the keyboard commands are? on mine, it came with a strange mapping. WASD walks, F jumps, and space attacks, and the rest of the keys I don't know yet. what do i have to do after he talks about defending the village?
that's explained in post 15.
Anyone know how upgrading stuff works? Seems like I can only talk to npcs in the camp, and one of them display skills when I talk to him, but doesn't show me any way to upgrade anything.
