Hmm, for me the enemy intents work still fine with say the spire. Or do you refer to the issue where it does not report multi attacks correctly when enemy is also doing something strategic like a buff. That has actually been fixed in the GitHub code repository but that version has not been submitted to steam. I am actually using the most recent version of the code from GitHub i.e. I downloaded the code and built the mod from the source. The last modification for the code is from the 18th of February. I actually made a small modification to the mod where card rarity is added to the card buffer and offered this modification to be integrated as part of the mod i.e. I made a GitHub pull request. But so far I have not gotten any reactions from stewie i.e. the mod developer.  So yeah it seems that this mod is no longer worked on. That is unfortunate since the keyboard support, for which there is some initial code at least, would have made this great game available for more players. But of course it is understandable if the developer is just so busy otherwise or lost interest  for this kind of side project that requires a lot of work.

Hey I'm sorry for my complete silence on this mod, I have had a lot going on so haven't been able to work on this as much as I should have. I've recently started working on implementing keyboard support and fixing a bunch of bugs for public beta 2. Keyboard support is almost done but I'm not going to promise a release date as I don't know how long it will take, but I am still working on this. I'll also try to respond to the pull requests soon.

So, with mine, I cannot see the other characters, unless there are about three of them, and only then I can only see one of them. So, I've got Ironclad, then a blank space on normal battles. This also means that I cannot aim at different enemies. I also cannot see enemy intents. When I choose a card with A, there's just nothing spoken until I play it with A again.

Hi all,

I have a problem with the mod. When I try to view the run history the game crashes. The game also crashes when I get defeated in a run.

I have all the required mods, I subscribed to them from the steam workshop and I'm using the latest release of  the say the spire mod on github.

Are you using Say the spire and Text the Spire at the same time? I remember that used to cause crashes and I'm not sure if it still does. also make sure your mods in the ModTheSpire UI are listed in the right order (basemod, then Say the Spire).

Make sure you only have one version of the mod installed (either the steam workshop or the github one). The github version on the master branch is probably a little unstable so I'd make sure to use the one on the steam workshop

@stewie awesome to hear you are still working on this. I really appreciate your work for this mod. Having taken a look at the code I understand that this has required quite a lot of work first to understand how the slay the spire ui works and then patching in the screen reader support. Especially since as far as I understand there really is not good documentation related to this kind of UI modification so instead of that you have had to look at the decompiled slay the spire source code and figure out stuff from there. I actually would like to hear about your experiences in developing this mod if you care to share.

@devinprater wow something is definitely broken. If I understood correctly this has not always been the situation for you. May be a game and/or mods reinstallation could help you. I actually had an issue yesterday when I installed slay the spire on my new PC and then put it to full screen mode from the settins (I have some vision so it is nice to see things better). The game crashed and after that say the spire stopped speaking completely but the game seemed to work otherwise. On my old PC the full screen mode did work without issues. Luckily a game reinstall solved the issue and I'll not be messing with the graphics settings before I get some sighted help. Note that if you uninstall slay the spire it seems to keep your game progress but you might want to take a copy of them just in case. From the slay the spire install folder which by default is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\SlayTheSpire" you want to take a copy of the preferences, runs and saves folders. Note also that if you are starting slay the spire with mods using the recommended way of mts_steam.cmd steam cloud save syncing does not happen since this by passes steam launching the game.

@MasterChief yeah run history does not work with say the spire. From looking at the code it has to do with say the spire thinking it is in the options menu when it tries to work with somekind of drop down element in the run history menu. If I recall correctly it tries to get some options for the settins for example resolutions but since the settings screen is not available it crashes. I actually use both say and text the spire and have not experienced crashes when defeated. Since you are not using text the spire, You can unsubscribe from communication mod since it is only needed by text the spire and say the spire does not use it. Who knows may be communication mod without text the spire is causing your issue. Although if you want to access your run history you can use text the spire for that.

Have you had or can you have a sighted person to take a look if the game looks to work correctly. I am just thinking if this could be some kind of graphics issue that is messing things up but I have to say I do not have  any good ideas what could be causing this.

The code that exists for beta 2 right now fixes the game over crash bug and I know what causes the run history crash so that will be fixed for the next beta. The enemy intents bug is also fixed with the strategic multiattack.

@devinprater Which cards are you playing that don't let you select an enemy?

@shane First to make sure that your basic setup is ok. Did you launch the game with mod support and did you enable all of the mods i.e. did you follow the instructions in the say the spire documentation under "Setup Instructions for Steam" and "Mod the Spire" headings. If that all seems all right, then you could copy and paste here the contents of the ModTheSpire window after you have launched the game. It contains some logging information that could be helpfull. One possibility could also be your controller if it does not work properly with slay the spire. I am not sure if you are going to hear anything spoken by NVDA when you launch the game the first time. First time the game asks a name for your save slot and after giving that you get to the game's main menu.

@Quasar when it comes to say the spire, the first post in this topic is basicly upto date. Most notably you still need a controller to use say the spire i.e. there is not yet keyboard support. Though there was discussion some where in this topic about some folks using a program that emulated the xbox controller with a keyboard. If you do not have a controller and do not want to try that keyboard controller thing then the other alternative mod is text the spire. It makes slay the spire text based by presenting information about the game situation in text windows and has a command prompt for inputting commands for playing the game. Note that if you are going to use text the spire you don't need to reallly install java as the instructions tell you to do. Instead you can use game launching instructions from the say the spire documentation. I can explain more if you want to use text the spire. Oh and text the spire and say the spire both can be used at the same time if you want. That is what I do.

hat i did was subscribe to basemod, then mod the spire, then say the spire.
when the game opens, i can ocr and see the menu.
but, there is no mod the spire window.
