Do they intend to switch back/change to an interface that screen readers have more luck interacting with and why did they do so in the first place?

I haven't looked into Dolphin in a while, but I remember seeing on their progress reports they were migrating away from WX to QT. WX is great for accessibility, but also often a pain to program for which is why a lot of developers move away from it. That being said, in most cases these days QT shouldn't be completely inaccessible. The experience wouldn't be as pleasant as WX in a number of aspects, but you should still be able to use it unless they're using a really old version of QT that doesn't include the accessibility support by default. Or have they switched again to something entirely different?

you can still play wii and gamecube games. Just use Retroarch

I was just looking through the issue tracker, and it seems as though at some point before Dolphin's QT UI used to work with screen readers as there was a report from Sanslash who also has an account on here with tab getting stuck in a dialog. I also grabbed the latest development build and sure enough, NVDA reads absolutely nothing. So whatever this issue is, it must be a recent regression.

@11 Appreciate that. I installed 5.0 in the meantime but I'll probably download the other build and transfer my user folder into it, I made my devbuild dolphin a portable copy.
Can't believe 5.0 is almost 4 years old already, I remember when I was trying the release candidates on my old macbook pro and them being much, much faster than the older versions of dolphin used to be.. I played through the entirety of Twin Snakes in 1 day.

As can be seen in the issue I reported the latest dolphin build should once again be accessible, it turned out the bug wasn't actually strictly with the QT version. Either way, if you grab this latest version you should be able to use it!

And considering... Oh wait, doesn't Dolphin automagically work with XBox controllers now? If so, yeah I'm going with Dolphin. Retroarch reverses the A and B buttonsbuttons, or A and X, something like that, and I don't think I should have to go in and fix such a noticable issue so it must be something they chose and it's weird, so I'll see how Dolphin is working these days.
